Printing two science fiction novels in one "flip" edition is an old publishing tradition of the genre. Whether or not Folio was aware of this when they designed this edition, it's quite beautiful pairing of two essential novels I just missed out on. Lucky you! You should check out the film version of A Scanner darkly. Very faithful. Both novels are excellent, but A Scanner Darkly is far heavier since it is a response to all the friends PKD lost to drugs.

man philip k dick is such a good writer, i wish i had money to buy folio society editions

I love both books, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep is the superior title in my opinion. But I enjoy PKD’s 60’s titles more than his other work.

I was really interested in reading "Do androids dream of electric sheep" after watching an anime called "Psycho Pass" in which the antagonist compares the society in the show with K. Dick's works especially mentioning this novel. Unfortunately this seems to be the only available copy under 100€. The problem is I am definitely not a fan of this type of illustrations so I won't be buying it. Which is a shame because the binding style is really unique and i definitely like the concept. Well I will have to look for a different edition. For people that enjoy these types of illustrations though this must be a prime opportunity.

I’ve read both before, I prefer do androids dream of electric sheep, and I really didn’t like a scanner darkly. Perhaps it was the theme I didn’t like as both are well renowned as being great books.

wow thats one good looking book. Have you read do androids... is it dated compared to modern scifi?

The writing is pleasantly brisk but not dumb, it's exciting and with a theological question at the end, reading it nowadays does give it a retro-futuristic edge considering it's a futuristic world without mobile phones or internet and an abundance of directory books and note pads, which just feel odd for a story set in the future to our modern sensibility. But what do you actually mean with dated? Over-used ideas, cliché, archaic writing style?

Beautiful books (though, in all honesty, I dislike these illustration for Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?), probably the best out there nowadays, but I will never be able to afford them.

Sadder Than You to be honest they are so expensive nowadays for customers out of the UK that I stopped buying them for now...

@@BookCravings They are expensive even if you are in the UK, but agreed, the cost of importing them is, like, super expensive nowadays.
