Can this Tilswall metal detector that costs $65 really locate coins, silver, lead, gold, rings and other valuables? Do you need to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to find buried treasures and valuable items?

I don't wear a wedding ring but if I did and used it for an experiment like that I think my wife would bury it for a further test. With me wearing it. Thanks Tom, that was fun. I still can't believe you threw that ring into all those leaves...

Great video Tom! We have a great time with our Bounty Hunter and pinpoint detector. Just another reason to get outside and do something.

Tom, I was thinking about investing in a metal detector because I like to work with reclaimed wood. I have a stack of 1xPine in various widths that I want to run through my planer. I don't have time to use my usual method (N52 rare earth magnet). It is strong enough to pick up my 28 ounce Estwing framing hammer and it will also find a brad nail through one inch of plaster (Best stud finder). Quick tip: A ceiling fan pull chain epoxy to a N52 rare earth magnet is the best stud finder money can buy. No batteries to go dead, no false readings. Just simply finds metal inside walls and the ceiling fan pull chain doubles as a plumb bob.

Thats a really good use case for a metal detector I never thought of. I also made myself a stud finder using rare earth magnets. I'll try that on the old wood next time I run it through the planer. Thanks!

Gold rings need to be very close to the coil.. like 5mm to be picked up. Nails and steel you get about 15cm to play with

I just picked up the Gordon from Harbor Freight and it’s going back if they will accept the return. Coil got wet and now it beeps every time you move it. Kinda stopped after drying a bit, but the thing won’t detect my necklace that is a gold and silver mix unless I put it in pinpointer mode. I’ve used harbor freights cheapest detector, and I’ve used the discovery 1100 from Dicks sporting goods. I might keep that one for the kids, even though it can’t be bought online for half the price. Currently waiting for my Nokta Simplex Ultra to be delivered.

So I just got the Gordon and sometimes it’s just beeping like crazy when I’m holding it in the air. Idk if something wrong with it or not. This is my first one
