Do FLEXIBLE Grips made with a 3D Pen Work?

I used a 3D Printing Pen and Flexible filament to add a custom grip directly on to an old hammer. I was curious to see how well this would work and whether the flexible filament would easily peel off or break. Basically if it would be a functional, useful 3D pen idea :)
In addition, I wanted to show that you can include your own custom designs on this flexible gripping area when using a 3D Pen, to really give your tools some flair.

I like the narrative in this video, it gives a little more context to the thought process you have as you're doing the make. Good job on the grips as well, looks like they turned out quite nicely!

I had the impression that tpu/flex wasn't suitable for the pens due to very high temp requirement, but they seem to work very fine on this scenario. You could try to punch a hole on the bottom of the handle then fill it with plastic and add some glue to secure it.

The Scribbler goes up to 240 deg C, which works for TPU filament. You should give flexible filament a try, it worked well.

@@PotentPrintables Thanks I will try it on the 3d simo kit sometime. I wrote a profile on the arduino firmware that goes up to 240c-250c but i am not sure if its real or a bug.

That's nice and takes some patience. I would have simply 3d printed a cylinder of the grip and called it a day. The details I can mark with a pen later if I really want. Thanks for sharing your work

Thanks. The big difference is that this won't slide on and off like a 3D printed version would. It is really stuck on there...it will be interesting to see if it holds up over time.

You should do another video doing the same thing but you should sand the wood so it's kinda rough and just copy the logo onto the wood

Unlike regular filaments, flexible filaments seem to be applicable to real life.

I'm sold :) Do you have any suggestions of what the "best" Glow-In-The-Dark Translucent Flexible filament might be? Or just Flexible GITD.. Or Translucent GITD .. Or just GITD! ∩(︶▽︶)∩

I've never used any GITD filament at all- it's on my list of things to try though!

@@PotentPrintables Np, I have some ordered. SainSmart Glow in the Dark TPU. Also have some shimmering green GITD Zi-Rui 3D Printer PETG coming. I work with glass so I wanted to test how well it works for my theoretical works of Art ;)
