Did you never want to step up in car, basically you stayed at the same level over and over. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it just suggests you've reached your personal high point. Myself come my next car it'll be a 2 seater convertible sports car Audi bmw or Porsche because that is where I see forward movement

He could of easily put a stage 2 on the golf R to 400hp. The m140i would get smoked. And it would cost less to tune the R in comparison to m140i. They are overpriced

@Chris even 0-60 the golf R is faster. 4.6 sec vs m140i 4.8 sec 🤦‍♂️💁‍♂️. Top speed is a win for m140

Was never a massive Golf R fan, nor a fan of the Lapiz blue although I watched a bunch of these videos over the past year. Now I’m driving a car almost the exact same spec as the one in this video and loving it. Bought a late 2017 MY18 MK7.5 R a month ago, and not a single regret yet after driving it to work daily. I miss driving it on days I’m not going anywhere, and keep finding excuses to go for a drive. It just needs a tune and some handling mods now, as all it has so far is a res delete.

For weather in the UK, Golf R is a no brainer. Unless you like spinning out everywhere, then go for the 140i!

I have to agree that Rueben from TuningWerkes is fantastic! Did all my Golf R mods including Racingline R600 intake, silicone intake pipe, APR stage 1. Perfect set up for stealth performance, esp when you’re a little older 🤪

What’s the traction like in the TCR? TCR looks better than the R but I went R because it’s invariably wet here.

@@YT_Kieran TCR needs a lot more attention to control acceleration to avoid wheel spin from a standing start. Still practicing on this😁 However, from a rolling start TCR feels slightly more punchy.

TBH the straight 6 RWD hot hatch ( although more of a small GT ) is a good box to tick for the experience. Plenty more time for 4 pot AWD turbos as the market is saturated with them now.

When you sell a car early on you can have regrets, especially if you didnt take it anywhere near its potential. Enjoy the m140i for what it is. It's a great car, just move it on when you've achieved what you want then you can move back to an R to settle your unfinished business. Remap it, catless downpipe and fmic etc. There's no rush, just enjoy the 6 cylinder sounds. Personally I think the perfect car would have been an R with B58 engine, or 5 cylinder turbo

I just bought a Golf R the exact same as your except i have the Spielberg alloys and in my opinion i wouldn't swap mine for a M140i but that's my preference and i haven't even nor wish to drive a M140i. the MK7.5 Golf R is a great car and will be a classic.

Test drove the golf R and S3 before I bought the m140i, couldn’t stand that fake noise like a wet fart after a madras, both were quite dull to drive. Choose the m140i purely on that superior B58 engine. Yes I know it doesn’t look as good as other hatchbacks but drives better than any other. Couldn’t justify £57,000 on an RS3 though, yes it’s a fantastic car, looks the best and sounds fantastic with that 5 pot but still suffers from that common ‘Audi understeer’

Like many other viewers I watch your channel for the Golf R, specifically before sourcing a fully optioned July 2018 car as a base for a HGP 3.6. conversion. Just picked it up - awesome! Please be more careful next time choosing your location for the walk around and owner intro. The noise of traffic passing by in the background is annoying.

Mine has been staying with me for 6 years now. A devoted affair between us. I take care of her when service is due. Just replace second set of new tires P Zero, added with interior coating. Feel like new on the road still. It embarrass some so called super sport cars at traffic light sprint run.

C'mon, let's be serious, it's a lovely car, well built and all, but like you I have an m140 and it has a full cat back Remus, and there is no comparison in sound. It's a bloody 6 cylinder that is throaty and it does varying burbles, it's the bloody nuts. Please don't say a 4 pot sounds close.

All these pano roofs across the VAG brand eventually sooner or later start to leak (normally down the inside of the A pillar to the footwell and become a night mare in terms of keeping the damp out of the interior, BMW have a similar issue and for this reason cars 3 years or over with a pano roof predominantly command a lower used price than those without the option.

Scott P Far from stock mate, he’s got blacked out badge, sticker on Callipers, black spoiler, fancy exhaust tips. Steering wheel, leather seats, and blacked out windows.... nah not stock mate. And to be honest, he has modded it horrendously.

Neither are going to stir any real emotion because at the end of the day, they’re a hatchback. Just fast ones that can do the boring day to day stuff as well as out a smile on your face. The stock R’s biggest problem is that the GTI looks better.

The overall feeling of seeing you in that Golf R is one of slight sadness imo, because you do really seem to miss yours, even while you’re just a passenger. Don’t listen to anyone else ffs, life’s too short. If you miss the R that much, go buy another one, tweak it to your heart’s desire and ignore the haters! (Your YT will soar too ‘cos controversy, unexpected twist etc, etc! Lol! Perfick!) ;)

Make sure it's garaged over night or you sleep with the keys under your pillow. To many are getting knocked. 20 MPG.... Any advice, save £6,000 and buy a well looked after low mileage mk 7 GTD.

You need to get another R .... but get it tuned. When you did the drag race vid you were absolutely gutted when you got beat, you could see it written all over your face. Get a remap on a Golf R so that doesn’t happen again next time ;-)

M140i > Golf R. Both great cars but the BMW feels more special hence why I own one. Previously owned a Cupra 290 which is similar to the Golf. Golf does look better though and you can actually use the power in the wet!
