It's not a question of will they break, it's a question of WHEN they will. The trailing arms on the Roadmaster R4R and R4RR chassis equipped with “Monaco Gold” suspension manufactured by the former Monaco Coach Corporation (MCC) are prone to failure, which can cause sudden handling problems and even a loss of vehicle control that could result in a crash. These Source Engineering trailing arms are several times stronger than the original parts and are backed by a Source Engineering lifetime warranty to the original purchaser.

Source Engineering out of Oregon sells the best trailing arm upgrade kits available, far better than anything the new Monaco Corporation could offer. This kit looks like a copy of Source Engineerings trailing arm kit.

Hi Eddie. Thanks for the comment. It's not a "Copy" That's where we get them. :)

From what I read some of that era had trailing arms that went over the axle, if they do, you're ok, if they go under like those, you are in danger like they said. Does anyone concur??

There may have been some earlier models of the RR4R Roadmaster (Monaco) chassis that used a better design of trailing arms. The main thing to consider is if your model of coach fits within the following range then your coach would have been originally equipped with the faulty trailing arm design: 2002-2004 Monaco Knight; 2002-2009 Monaco Cayman; 2002-2004 Holiday Rambler Ambassador; 2002-2009 Holiday Rambler Neptune; 2002-2004 Safari Cheetah; All years of Safari Simba RD.

What about 1997?

The problem design did not start until about 2002, so a 1997 should not have this defect. Still a good idea to have them inspected though!
