Nicely made Video. I only collected vinyl for a few years in the early 80s. Once I got a car I switched to cassettes since almost all my listening was in the car. I got my first cd player in 1984 for $300 which is $900 adjusted for inflation. Cds were $15-17 each. The last time I bought any vinyl was in 1988 . Target was closing out their vinyl with every album being 50 cents. I bought all the 80s genesis asia and the firm. Since then I haven't bought any and probably haven't listened to any since the mid 90s. To me cds are superior in every way except album artwork. If collecting vinyl brings someone joy then they should collect them. I will stick to cds and digital.

Interesting point of view on the subject. As a kid in the mid-90s, I grew up with the vinyl records my parents had bought when they were young taping many of them on cassettes., We got our 1st CD player relatively late - around 1998 or so. As a teenager/young adult back in the early 2000s I bought quite a few CD's that I was taking to my car as I used to spend lots of time driving. Then, in the early 2010s, I have become a great user of ''de-materialized music'' (first by downloading mp3's on the phone, then subscribing to some streaming services). I switched back to vinyl records around 2018-2019 mainly because a new turntable was given to me as a gift, and at the same time my father (who knew about it) passed me the entire family's collection of vinyl records he no longer used. Also, back then, I had just changed job. The result of this was that all of the sudden, I was able to spend more time at home (since the new position was 100% working from home), and that I could also go record shopping during my business trips across Europe, therefore having real access to a larger musical playing field. Then I moved to North America, I did start a KZfaq channel thanks to which I get to share my passion for the music and records with the so-called vinyl community ; some of its members that I met in real life are now good friends of mine - who made me discover great stuffs whom I would probably never have had the opportunity to be introduced to. Digital has its advantages, no question. But the most important is having fun listening music, no matter the format is.

With the LP 60X, you need to have it set at 12 for LPs. As you found out, if you have it set at 7, the tone arm will still go to the 7 inch position, regardless of what record you’re playing. You might consider purchasing resealable outer sleeves. With these, you can remove and replace the record without totally removing the outer sleeve. They’re very convenient and the record jacket looks great in them!!! There’s nothing wrong with liking CDs. However, nothing, including CDs, can compare with the experience and sound of vinyl. I just hope that you continue with your vinyl collecting, and as the years go by, that you continually grow in your appreciation of the vinyl format-just like so many have and continue to do!!!

I grew up in the 70s buying records. But since the late 80s mostly CDs. Perfect sound and don’t require a lot of babysitting just to store or play.

Glad you're still getting a buzz from your record player Bryers. Bought my first vinyl in 1970: it was a 7" single by the reggae singer Nicky Thomas... and yes it still plays well. My secret for vinyl longevity was to buy sapphire stylus rather than diamond and replace them on a regular basis. They're a bit softer on the vinyl.

i usually ask questions-pictures on ebay. i recently got elvis speedway original 1st press. i have had my turntable 10 plus years. i probably have 300 lps.good video bro

Ppl make too big of a deal out of "collecting". You buy music, you listen to it. How can you enjoy anything if you nit pick at it all the time. Nothing to be disappointed about. It doesn't have to be a lyfestyle choice. I've got a u-turn audio orbit with an acrylic platter, got it at a discount cause the lid got damaged. Its a rescue. I listen to it occasionally and I know I have it if I find a cool record. I don't have the want to to go down an audiophile rabbit hole cause I know I have a solid player. I like cleaning records. Everyone needs Miles Davis' Kind of Blue and Bitches Brew on vinyl. That is how I feel.

Yeah, I'm pretty similar. I'm not to concerned on getting the best sounding records in the world. I only get records if it's an album I REALLY love. I do want to get those two Miles Davis albums at some point! 😄

Doesn't time fly , i remember viewing that video of you putting together your stereo. It doesn't seem that long ago. I dont own a record player , and only enjoy playing cds. I have Edifier speakers attached to my Sony brand cd player. The sound quality is good. In the seventies i had a stereo , and played vinyl. I woud put a record on and then turn out the lights and sit in the darkness so i could focus on the listening pleasure. People say that vinyl recordings are still a good format .

That was one of the most iconic moments in KZfaq history. The fun part of getting records for me is going to the record store and discovering a record you want. When listening to a record you pay attention more to the sequencing of the album and the opening and closing to the two sides. It’s fun to listen to like I Want You She’s So Heavy on side 1 and flip it over and get Here Comes the Sun opening side 2. Plus the cover art looks so good on the vinyl records.

First of all I loved the editing & I enjoyed the music in this video, second of all I’m glad you still like collecting records, even though CD is your preferred choice. I enjoy collecting both nearly as much, I do prefer collecting records personally though.

Great video. I’ve been purging a lot of my records trying to get down to the essential albums, that being said I still have over 1,300. I find that CDs are still relevant because of the cost, portability and ease of use. Enjoy.

Heh, 20-somethings buying LPs and players. Next, can I expect a spike in requests for tuna mornay and fondues, flares and platform boots, prog and disco, trans ams and corvettes? PS I had most of the vinyls you held up! No more. My wife still berates me for selling them all off in a garage sale.
