BIG THANKS to Evan Era for his wonderful guest appearance at the end of this video! Evan's very fun 'hit and run' teaching style, is a perfect compliment to my more psychological and detail-oriented approach. We also share the view that learning magic isn't just for hardcore sleight-of-handers, or serious 'students of theatre.' Magic can be fun and even silly too! MAGIC IS FOR EVERYONE.

SankeyMagic My idea: force any card... have a dublicate in the bag wich has a plastic coctail sword in it... That introduce a joker saying its a killer you can pay for killing... he has another of those swords in his hand.... turn it over to show that on the bag of the joker is a phkne number... if anyone wants a killer.... xD... thatn secretly pop the jokers sword of and steal it way... than let it fall in the bag and do his stuff... than show that the killer has done it again...

Jay: your humour is so undersold and it makes your episodes wacky and offbeat and just...fun. I did wonder just for a second why a porpoise fin would find a card in a bag - relieved that your 'alternative butchery' hasn't clashed with the magic yet.

now im jealos that i dont work in louisville when another couple guys in my company do and they don't even realize what is going on up there. I wish I could go to that meeting and meet you guys. when I was a kid I tried magic but I didn't have the dexterity to do it so I gave up after trying for so long. I just recently at 28 got back into it and I've been soking up every little trick I can learn. Jay Sankey has been a huge influence to me and how I view magic. Evan is just hilarious. mismag has taught me tons. and Chris Ramsey has become one of my favorite magicians on this channel. it's thanks to these guys that I have gotten back into magic and pushed myself to learn things that's not necessarily just simple card tricks. I appreciate all you guys do to teach people. i know you like for kids to learn but as an adult it's just as exciting for me to learn. thank you.

This was great Jay. I just found out about Evan a few weeks ago, and he's my son's favourite magician! So great you were able to get together with him. I also love this effect. It points out something I don't see very often... since you are SO far ahead, and you can put so much emphasis on the paperclip "finding" the card, that you can play it as something magical happening, not something that the "magician" is doing. I should really practice this.

Great trick!!! I have been watching your channel for a while, and now, time to go and by a few decks of cards!! Thanks for the inspiration, I love your tricks, and you have a fantastic teaching style!! Can I offer you a suggestion, how about a video listing the items a person should have on hand, to be able to put together a little routine of maybe ten tricks. Cards, coins, along with other easy to find everyday props, which can easily be found and used........ Keep up the fantastic work!! 😊😊

I love this effect. I like how it lends itself so perfectly to any individual presentation style. I think the reason magic took a downhill turn is bc too many magicians took a snobbish/elite-ish stance on "exposure", causing a rift btween them and the cool magicians who only wanted to teach and help beginning/upcoming magicians. Thank you, Jay and Evan for being one of the cool ones.

If you want to add a little personal flair to the trick, drop the small handful of paperclips directly into the bag and shake it up. It's fun because obviously only 1 is going to stick and it feels less forced, like it could have actually happened in the bag.

Hi Jay, I'm sure you must have considered this, but I figured I'd provide an alternative handling for your viewers. You can achieve the same effect without a force, by having a paperclip in finger palm (as long as it's aligned with the finger). It lets you display the full face of the chosen card (pushing over with the deck hand, and the like), and then you feed it into the paperclip as you close the spread. The rest of the presentation is exactly the same, but I took inspiration from one of your other videos, where you vanish a penny or small coin, and use it to find a selection.
@SankeyMagic
@SankeyMagic 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, I almost taught that on this video! It's a bit harder to do, secretly loading on the clip, but it's a strong approach for sure.

Really like that trick Jay thanks. I also like your approach to magic as I was getting a bit intimidated and depressed watching videos by people who gave the impression you are a rubbish magician if you can't do an invisible classic pass or some knuckle buster. But unless some smartass knows a double lift you can delight tons of people keeping it simple. I have been doing a weekly card trick at my local sandwich shop (no kidding) to the girls behind the counter and all I am doing is working my way through The Magic Book by Harry Lorayne plus a couple of yours. And we are ALL having a great time! So thanks for that.

Love it Jay, and not to poop on the beautiful slight of hand, but why is it necessary to keep extra clips out of the bag? I'd toss them in one at a time, perhaps miming one to account for the one on the card, and say something about fishing, comparing the paperclips to fish hooks.That way, when you "catch" one it just so happens to be the chosen card. For a moment I thought you were going to put something else in the bag. Maybe, A GLASS EYE...

How do you remove just one card with this "buckling"? ( means bending, right?) I've been practicing, but I don't understand what you bend. I can only see that you are squeezing the lower deck. Pulling and pushing with the other fingers will only move the whole deck in stead of a single card.

hmm, all sorts of ways to not put paperclips in the bag... but maybe it would be stronger to eliminate the slight of hand (why do it if it's not needed?) -- if you actually did put some clips (don't let anyone count them) in the bag, they still believe clips went in, but they get to see it too. Shake the bag real hard, dump everything out on the table. One's clipped - the rest won't matter.

So, I've watched this up to the part where you explain that they can pick any card, and I have yet to see the method. I'm gunna make a guess at it. The paper clip was palmed and you slid it onto his selection before placing the cards into the bag, and you feigned grabbing a paper clip and putting it in there once you revealed that that's what you were gunna do.
