As a teen I used to struggle with guilt over wet dreams/nocturnal emissions. I think St. Augustine and a book on Moral theology I used to refer to would call ejaculation "pollution." So church teaching is definitely a mixed bag when it comes to positivity about sexuality and the human body doing what it does . Just a couple questions for consideration: 1) Couldn't you use masturbation as a means of preventing the inconvenience of wet dreams? The extra laundry, especially if it happens 2, 3 or 4 times in a week is a drag. 2) Can't pleasure have multiple purposes? In marriage, the unitive and the procreative, but in other circumstances just pleasure? Sort of like how we go for a massage in order to address physical tension or injuries. In conclusion, I think Christopher West's approach to discussing Church teaching on sex is an important development in how Catholicism has handled this topic in the past. Respect and openness is important as opposed to shame, guilt, and repression. I've had the suspicion (and I could be wrong) that the Church abuse crisis has a lot to do with sexual repression leading to psychosexual disorders among clergy.

The point on nocturnal emissions doesn't make sense. If a natural nocturnal emission, which happens rarely usually monthly, had the same benefit there would be no measurable difference in benefits. Also, if the end is health, then the end can't solely be pleasure, simple as.
