I am from South India. Born, bred here, never had a chance to understand this. My daughter got a seat in Airforce school through general category, by sheer luck. I met the principal who was from Delhi. She asked me to introduce a good real estate agent who could help her get a house to buy. I was visibly surprised when she told me that she wanted to settle here. She then explained to me that she liked the simple ways of South Indians and that language had never been a barrier for her here. I felt happy on hearing this. Now I understand this completely. ❤

Well said Sir. I have observed this in my own life. I have stayed in Dehradun for my studies and am currently staying in Chennai for my Job . People in the North are more towards physical strength viz. People are into joining the Army more and show off culture buying iPhone and Cars even if it's on EMI whereas people in the South are more towards saving culture and they are spending a lot on Education and Savings like Gold(proof by data). They don't like to show off and I could see even a person earning so much is so humble . We should learn from both sides and have balance in our life.

That may be a stereotype that has been fed into the peoples' minds, I do not know from where. I am from North India and I have been noticing for a few years now that these Dravidian parties are trying to manufacture a North-South divide, especially in the literacy (saying Southern states are far more literate than Northern states). Barring a two states, there is not much of a difference in literacy rates between North and South. What use is literacy in a state like in Kerala where half of the population works in the Middle East or rest of India.

I am a Bengali who lived in Punjab for 27 years and now in South India. The level of show off is extremely high in Punjab, Haryana, New Delhi.. I know many people who consider eating with hands as dehati. Also, I have seen unemployed people having iphones, cars, in debt. Most of all, I see many Punjabis in a lot of stress that if they can't go to Canada or increase their standard of living, their life will be difficult. I don't say Bengal or South is free from it, show off in one way or other is everywhere.. but the show off in North will definitely exhaust u if u don't earn a lot or don't belong to rich class...

This video was really informative. I think the people from Assam are more laid back than the rest of India and we rarely migrate unless for career purposes. That could be because Assam did not face foreign invasion for almost 600 years prior to British rule. We probably feel more secure in our own land.

@@prasadbhadane608 About the state flag. Why is it surprising ? Indian states were not united for millenia, many parts and pieces were divided among feuding monarchies for millenia before finally uniting once we obtained freedom from the British. For that constitution to work in the best interest of the nation, more power has to be provided to each state as opposed to a homogeneous rule from the center. Indian states differ much more from each other than the spanish states and german states you mentioned, yet they have a much higher say in their politics than the indian state. Take a look at the Lok Sabha Election results of 2004 to 2019 of the states of South India and look what govt would have formed if they were able to have their own elected representatives working for them. Instead they are subjected to rule from a ignorant, homogeneous party, which forget nationalism, has no understanding of the diversity, people and cultures that amalgamate to call themselves India. Unity comes with representation, unity comes with compassion, unity comes with being open minded to everyone that is different to you. For a party that uses disunity to win elections, cannot complain about the nation splintering into state identities separate from its ignorant nationalism.

I am à Pakistani from Islamabad. It was my observation that Pakistanis (old west Pakistani) are more show off and agressive than North Indians who in turn are more of these then South Indians. South indians are really humble and brainy. Most of the computer jobs in USA are held by them. I always wondered why is that? Really liked your analysis. Did you had any interaction with Pakistanis. One of my wifes cousin is married to à south indian . I asked her what is the cultural différence between you two? She replied that when ever there is a différence of opinion between us , i shout and blurt every thing out but he keeps quite and keeps evey thing in his heart. Both live in US. I am à Neurologist by profession and an auther by hobby.

Absolutely right! In the past historically, it is the north of our country which has been invaded innumerable times and their land ,property, as well as their families have always been snatched away....so obviously that psyche of insecurity has been ingrained into their genes, hence they live life king-size while they can! Although as you say, it can be tuned down a bit in today's world...but the joyous nature of the people of the north, especially of Punjab is something that can be learned by all of us!

I am from Haryana, living in Mumbai for past 5 years. I lived in noida as well for first 4 years of my job. There is a drastic change of attitude amongs youth here in Mumbai. No branded clothes, No fancy cars, no expensive shoes, very rare people having Iphones despite the fact that the salary drawn by average employee here is much much higher as compare to the north.

My father's mother was Bengali, father's father(Dadaji) was marathi ( maharashtrian and so am I by sirname) , my mother is Punjabi so our family is mix of 3 cultures. And it is my mother's reading that she appreciated the groundedness and simplicity of maharashtrians a lot. Instead of showing off they rather show less than what they have and are actually little embarassed if they do have to talk about how well they r doing financially.

Sir , I am following your vlogs since from few days. I liked it ,since it is very true & you explain it with great sense of humor. Though am south indian , I am basically marathi , we r 4th generation staying in karnataka,we adopted its culture, we r happy about it. My son is very excited about north Indians, their joyful ,helping, brave AND POSITIVE attitude towards life. As his colleagues are north Indians, he too have changes in his life styile& thinking. I believe some kind of good changes are acceptable. Nowadays south indians have introduced many north Indian foods in marriage menue , mehindi, lehanga , kurth dress etc, which were not accepted before. This generation youths r not having any problems in accepting new changes. Nice to see all this.

Totally agree 💯 Punjabi kahawat hai "Khaada Peeta laahe da Baaki Aadam Shahe da" (Jo kha pee leya wohi apna tha, baki sab to Adam Shah ayega aur loot ke le jayega) Par abhi bhi North India mein dange-fasaad zyada hai. Punjab ne abhi 20 saal pehle trauma jhela hai. Delhi mein Sikhon ne 40 saal pehle apna sab kuch gawa diya tha. North India ka trauma khatam ho nahi Raha. Abhi bhi stability se thodi dur hai.

A very interesting and thought-provoking video. Stereo types are not always true, but substantially correct. Unrelenting invasions through the Hindu Kush have left a lasting impact on the northern areas and this could be the reason for the philosophy of live it up and live for today. Another reason in my view is relatively the Gangetic belt has always been more fertile and prosperous compared to the South, with wealth in the hands of landed gentry. However, as to the effects of partition and population displacement, one does not see the see 'live it up' approach in migrants from erstwhile East Pakistan who have done well. I wonder why. Thanks for the video.

My father (and me as well) is a southie and has never stayed in North (except for general tourism). But from a very young age he has been advising me that Northies have this "show off" attitude, but it is not wrong as they hae faced many insecurities since generations. He used to advise my northie friends to not to indulge in show off as well. But he used to finish it off by saying that we in south are eating food because there is northie fauji protecting our borders.

Another brilliant video. Videos like this bring the country together. We have been divided for ages. We should give credit to North India for standing upto numerous invasions while giving credit to South India for preserving our culture and temples (which were being brutally destroyed in NI) so that now when the time is ripe we can all come together and build Bharat again.

North Indian culture is more material especially Punjab, Haryana area with more emphasis on good eating for strong body, work hard physically (like mr. sango said commitment to protect against enemy). Although human psychology tends to show off that which it does not have in reality. Some folks take show off to another level like skipping meals to buy that designer shirt etc. Such attitude makes life very stressful and ill effects of this stress spill over covertly in other areas of life.
