Learn the systems on your truck, find the correct diagnostic software to monitor those systems in your truck with a laptop. It is not rocket science, and once you figure it out, it is easy to keep these pigs running. Not as easy as an old school non emission diesel, but easily doable. You may have to get your hands dirty too... Most truck owners refuse to do that and then complain when something breaks.

I knew someone that had a 2014 cascadia evolution and often he had to put his truck to the shop because of the infamous dpf system, one day the one box needed 2b replaced completely and that was going to cost him over 15k plus labor + downtime so he opted to delete it instead, best decision ever! He told me, no more Regen problems, no more sensor problems, no more wire harness issues, no more plugged nozzles, no more def purchasing and the truck now barely has issues! DPF is a ripoff it is designed to breakdown often so you spend $ fixing it.

If you are going to put a video out telling us why we shouldn’t be deleting ats, you need to give some solutions. Thousands of truckers have been put out of business due to the government regulations. I have a small trucking company, and my mechanics spend the majority of their time troubleshooting ats. Many times, the big dealers can’t give a straight answer for a correction. The systems are too complicated and unreliable. Maybe if the money was coming out of your pocket to keep the nox out of the air, you would change your time.

They're actually not complicated if you can read a schematic. Just understanding what the system is designed to do goes a very long ways. You have to understand what the EGR is doing and why, what the DPF is doing and why, and what the DEF is doing and why without confusing them and using them interchangeably. I see so many people who use DPF and DEF back and forth thinking they're referring to the same part of the system when they're not. After treatment is 3 distinct systems basically in a series designed to handle different "features" of the exhaust. They all have to work for the truck to run well, but once you understand how they're separate you can start to look at what the error codes are saying and understand what part of the system is failing. It's not an all or nothing "everything is bad" situation.

If the government is so concerned about environmental issues why don't we change the current technically obsolete models with European ones? They extract 560hp from 10 liter engines with 30-40 % less fuel. Why can't you import a truck like that here?

IM in the middle of the ultimate delete: I am deleting my DD15. I have a reman 1998 Series 60 12.7. I found a motor mount kit for Cascadia gliders and had to have the front plate mount reworked . EVERYTHING works with no lights, cruise, brakes, throttle pedal (out of the donor truck). I even kept my 13 speed. My 2014 Cascadia is a former Swift truck I purchased in 2018 with 475,000 miles. It has 892,000 now and still runs (I deleted the DPF filters , drilled them out at 672,000 mile) and bypassed the 7th injector and lived witha yellow light ever since and every freightliner dealer whining about my truck throwing codes but it RAN with no derate and no issues and NO DEF (I just added water). Now thansk to government rules I will have a reliable and decent truck that is still in great condition. Front air ride all new, both drives completely rebuilt 6 months ago, new fifth wheel all new interior and extra sound insulation, mini-split AC with a Nissan leaf battery behind the sleeper that runs the ac for 12 hours without recharge (its a heat pump and it will heat to about 25 degrees then it gets really ify but I have a $150 chines diesel heater that will run for DAYS on the leaf heater even with the battery packs heater running in cold climates. Anyway, EFF the EPA and ANYONE who claims a delete is a bad idea. For those of us who could not have made it without saving $ from doing a delete its REALITY!

The gear ratios that fleet trucks are getting in their trucks keep emissions engines at RPMs higher than they ought to be when driving at 70, 75; or some higher and rediculous speed. Spec your truck so that the engine at the highest highway speed you drive is in the meat of the torque band. With a DD15 or DD16 engine that means that your engine speed should be at 1400 for a DD15, and can go a hundred RPMs lower with a DD16 engine. The DD15 and DD16 engines torque band starts at roughly 925 RPM and falls away at 1450. It is not what your engine makes in peak power that counts. It is what horsepower you have in the torque band that makes the difference when climbing grades. With horsepower comes a faster heating under load of the engine oil, which leads to blowby and oil lifespan issues. I am not advocating for taller gears for heavy haul applications, just 80,000 lbs, 36288 kilo and lower permitted vehicles.

Try telling that to most of the semi truck owners that. They think it’s a conspiracy and that you’re nothing but a tree hugger. They don’t think their children and grandchildren deserves to live in a clean air one planet earth. I own my own semi trucks and running Reefer loads and live in California. I had people in northeastern states telling me that California can fall into the ocean for all they care, so I asked if they enjoy their fresh produce in their local grocery stores, even if they buy canned fruits and vegetables. What most people don’t know or care to know is that 65% of their fresh fruits and vegetables comes from California even Canada gets their fresh vegetables and fruits from California. Let’s not talk about Florida oranges, orange juice from Florida are bottled in Florida but 43% of oranges are shipped from California. Your knowledge helps educating people, I really appreciate that so much sir.

My job has a 1996 Isuzu box truck that now is in use more then the 64,000 mile2016 Isuzu box truck because the DPF system won’t allow the truck to go more than 5mph the tow alone would be 400$ plus finding a reasonable mechanic, estimate was 5-8 grand due to a emission system if it were my decision I’d remove it and not have any problems regarding the system as I’ve seen trucks with a dpf delete run 400,000 miles after

Wow people, this is his professional opinion. And he is not wrong, with proper maintenance you can stay on the road. I have a million miles and is been a challenge but I’ve learned to maintain and clean the system and still going strong. And even if he wanted to, not saying he would, but if he was to go and tell you as a professional to remove or alter the system the epa would rain on his parade. He can lose everything. But learn to maintain the system , you would be better off.
