Why was this video titled 'Do not try this in NZ'? When it turns out it's just quite simply a nice friendly tour of Mt Maunganui, Tauranga...? Yeah it's beautiful up there I did that walk too...

Fact. The Mount used to be it's own town separated by the harbour from Tauranga. Eventually amalgamated with the city in the 80's making it a suburb. Not sure if it's still spoken but early in transition it used to be said.."Remember, when you're at the Mount, you're not in Tauranga " A local saying from a local.

So when you come back to Mt Maunganui, be sure to visit Pilot Bay on one side,near the Mount, & the beach on the other side. This is quite unique. It is a tourist destination that does have a holiday feel about it. If you walked from Mount to the airport,then I know what you're saying. Great perseverance! See you next time! 😊❤

Come back in February. Stay the night bring your boardies have a swim or surf and then hit the restaurants and then a pub. One of the best places in NZ

The only difference between this an an Aussie beach town is 1) a lack of people 2) a lack of a beach - you are not selling the place very well unless you are trying to promote shops.

You didn’t even show the beach, sure it has good shops and eateries, but the long beautiful surf beach IS Mount Maunganui.

My wife and I had our honeymoon at the mount in 1983 courtesy of the wifes rich aunty who had a house there. Loved it there.

Mate welcome to my home town! Well I grew up there until the end of my teenage years. I'm new to your channel, liking content though!! If you havnt already, you need to visit the naki! Mt taranaki puts the mount to shame! Theres only 2 places in the world where you can go from the snow to the surf in under an hour. And taranaki is 1 of them. It truly is a special place!

My Great -Grandparents had a house in Mount Maunganui called 'Miranda' -the seaside village where they lived on the firth of Thames. In the 1970's I spent many a happy week or two down there with Grandparents and family, swimming at the beach, finding pipi's (small clams), and watching Johnny Weissmuller 'Tarzan ' movies from the 1930's. The rooms had that peculiar mothball and old linoleum smell. The beds had saggy woven spring-mesh under the soft mattresses. Loved the place. In the 1980's it became trendy with teenagers around the Xmas holidays, and there were lots of bands playing and excellent New Years parties.

I used to walk up the Top of the Mount everyday after work with my old Army kit Pack and webbing 40 mins up 20 mins down

My hometown as of 7 years ago..... you missed the key factor.. Ocean Beach and the sheltered Pilot Bay.. OB is a world famoussurf beach, , but safe .. Pilot Bay is stunning.. sheltered, warm water. Andthe restauraantss andcafes are xlnt. ... now.. you're pie freak.. you didnt get out the Bethlehem 10kms north, for Patricks' Pies... 9 times NZ Supreme Award winner. Next ime, ccall me..
