Do RX-8's belong in the Junkyard?

Whats up guys, in todays episode we tackle some issues i've been avoiding to deal with on my RX-8. Many of you know that I have been working on my Datsun, but before my 280ZX, this rex was one of my first "project" cars I tried to mess with. My intentions with it were to build it up as a budget drift car, like many other jdm kiddos want to do. But in reality, drifting is a very expensive hobby and sport, and i was just way over my head with that dream. To be honest, I would love to tackle the drift scene with an RX-8, but priorities are catching up with me and I just have too many projects in the lot, so this ones gatta go since I don't even touch it as of lately. Besides that, RX-8's are great cars, awesome platform, just takes the right type of owner to care for em and at the moment I'm just not invested into it anymore.
What do yall think? Are RX-8's a good platform to enter drifting with? They handle great but the low HP is something you gatta work with. To be completely honest my reason for wanting to get rid of this thing is the power steering issue and the fact that it doesn't have A/C any more LOL! Which is an essential here in Texas!

I loved my rx8. Picked mine up non running for $900. Had a blown motor but found someone in Orlando who rebuilt it for $1200 in 1 day. So all in $2100. Car had perfect leather interior and handled like a Porsche. Sold it after beating on it every weekend for $4500.

it's a shame Mazda dropped the ball on the RX-8, the platform isn't terrible but it just couldn't deliver on the hype.

Definitely didn't have much potential at all it was a sports car with a unreliable motor in it the only way that the Mazda would have been reliable if it got the speed 3 motor that's about it@@korosumyself

Man there's hardly ever any RX-8s at the yards around me so I see you as really lucky. When one did show up at a local yard I did luck out as I pulled some Megan Racing coilovers off of it. I gotta put a clutch in mines before I can start driving it though.

my fucking dreamcar, I love this so much. Can't wait to move to a different house so I'll have space to work on this car. Currently driving a Hyundai Kona Electric for work but your RX8 looks like a beauty bro!

RX8s had such a great chassis shame the engines just do not last. perfect cars for a lot of engine swaps i really want another set of oem RX8 5 spoke wheels

When I lived in Arlington Texas I found a shop that can throw a used tire on my s13 for like 25 bucks a pop. For situations like that where you just need to move it, I think that would be your cheapest option.

I hate that these things died out. Those Renesis engines just couldn't hold up. 😢

Hey did removing the steering wheel and re centering it cause any problems? Just replaced the steering rack on my integra and I’m facing the same problem haha

whats up? as far as I remember yeah i just had to unbolt the wheel then reinstall it with it properly aligned no issues

Nice video. Yeah rotary engines known for have to be rebuild every 100 000 km/62137 miles. Didn't know about clutch pedal. It's such a shame these cars are pretty cool. They all should be bought for dirty cheap and swapped some cheap piston engines. Something that is still cheap but undesirable.

Picked mine up for $500 and sticking a K24 in it 😅 make it reliable. B13 hard to find, that would been the only other option for it.
