Another great tip. Most of us who didn't start out with bowling coaches have built up a lifetime of bad habits. Over the years we probably manage to throw the ball semi effectively somehow. But we do so many things wrong. I know I sure do. I look at each of the tips offered by Brad and Kyle and I look at my own game, and they help me to, hopefully, get back to correct basics so that I am not fighting my bad habits with every ball thrown. Thanks guys.

yes i started 2 handed and my swing was not tucked in and it was like out, and it took like months of practcie to make it like at an acceptable distance from my body, (its still not perfect but alot better) if u dont start with a coach best thing is just to record yourself and watch these brad and kyle vids and house bowling etc vids to learn the correct way and to fix it as quickly as possible

Bowled on and off for 25 years. It is only the last 3-5 years started taking lessons! Average idling at 160 and now 180. U are right. Years of bad habit, muscle memory caused every change so difficult, need extra extra efforts to take it away 😅

Brad and Kyle: I watched this video yesterday and then bowled last night. I got the balance arm thing in my head and it was all I could think about which scared me at first. But getting my left arm out in front and then pulling it back on my down swing was money! It just about eliminated me pulling the ball! Thank you thank you thank you!!

So I worked on this in practice today. Once I got comfortable with it and stopped looking at my arm instead of my target, it was instant improvement in consistency. Strung a 6 bagger together at the end of my last game. Brad and Kyle Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've totally rebuilt my footwork and release from the ground up this summer. I have significantly increased my rev rate and am so much more balanced, but I developed a habit of pulling the ball to the left. I just realized about 3 weeks ago that it was because my balance arm was flailing around and getting out to the left too early. So I've been focusing on it lately and absolutely it felt so weird when I forced it to stay out in front of me. But it is coming together nicely and I have become so much more consistent at not pulling the ball. This video was awesome.

Love the video. My coach still tells everyone I can’t be coached because I refuse to square up at the line. He is old school. But it feels unnatural and many times the ball has virtually run into my leg. It’s just one of many things I work on.

Get a new coach. Stat. This isn't 1977 anymore. Being "square in the shoulders" has been straight up SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN to be ineffective. Same with "lifting" the ball to create motion, which systematically creates late timing issues.

The feel I always try to go for is my left shoulder stays left of my head and my right shoulder behind my head. Stick your arm out and try that and see where your arm ends up. If I don’t focus on that, I push everything right of target. This video really solidified “why”.

Coach Daniel shared this shortcoming of mine in a couple of videos I sent on the membership FB page. When I first tried it, I was so focused on the arm, I forgot everything else. I'm somewhere in the middle right now, but still looking to get a little more in front. It's already helped my game substantially. By seeing Brad do it, I noticed one additional thing I can do that I hadn't been. Thanks to you both for the instructional videos...very valuable.

always focused on not dropping my right shoulder instead of the balance arm on the left. good tip, I will take this to the lanes and practice with it... I am a 200 average bowler, but not consistent enough to repeat shots and really string strikes. I had to really spend time learning a spare game because I constantly tug the ball left and there's only so much hold with modern equipment. balance and opening my swing properly should help a ton going forward as a balanced bowler and 1-handed.

I agree. Except I've had the seemingly stiff left arm that would lose control upon release and gutter the ball just as in this video, lol😤. I'll definitely give this new position a try.

I have worked on this for the last year before this video and i have found myself that if i dont keep that arm in front or me i will pull my shot almost every time. i would assume it is the same way if you have it too far in front of you as well that you will push it out too far. great video guys.

Had this problem and gave me tennis elbow really bad. Don't know what your grip pressure is like but that was my problem. Squeezing the ball too much and trying to force it. I drilled a much tighter thumb and tighter inserts. Did the one step drill and made sure to have a really loose arm swing. It took me about 6 months to really get it looking and feeling good. On the 8th month I won my only regional title.
@SirJoelsuf1
@SirJoelsuf1 8 ай бұрын
Hundreds and hundreds of repetitions of no step drills. JR Raymond has some good stuff on it. And if you have your thumb in the ball your swing needs to either be totally straight or it needs to start outside of your hips then go inside. With your hand in front of your face at the release.

as a newbie, is there anything bad/wrong from today's perspective of bowling the old-school way, with your hips in line with the wall and just keeping all the movement in your swing?
@SirJoelsuf1
@SirJoelsuf1 8 ай бұрын
It's NEVER been optimal, really. Like Kyle said, it restrains your hips which you need to generate power. Take a look at how bowling was before, say, the mid to late 1980s. More bowlers left 5 pins than 10 pins since there was no such thing as angle since there was no such thing as friction because bowling balls were made of either wood or rubber. Has it been like that for the last 40+ years? No. THAT is why "keeping all the movement in your swing" is not an optimal way to throw a bowling ball. Oh and it leads to injuries too because what do you think will happen if you FORCE yourself to stay square with everything when you have a 14/15/16lb object in one hand and nothing in the other?
@Dr_Bombay
@Dr_Bombay 8 ай бұрын
@@SirJoelsuf1 well, like i said, i'm new to it all, but i've seen everything from 12 year old girls to 70 year old ladies use the old methods and they are just as good as anyone bowling the modern way. i'm just curious on the pros and cons, that's all.
