I made my first batch of soap after much research which had led me to your "no lie about lye" video which was the reason I finally felt comfortable with making that first batch, my Soapmaking has come a long way since then and you are now my top KZfaq star, I always watch everything you put out before I watch anyone else, even if it's not relevant to anything I will ever do, I just love being part of the family :) now I'm making some lovely soaps (and all kinds of bath body and cleaning products) and making KZfaq videos of it too! Just got over 200 subscribers which is exciting and it's all because of you Mrs V thank you and much love to you and yours xx

see this video is why I love Bev and Howie When you see a project and a mistake is made they don't edit it out. mistakes happen and if you can help others to not make mistakes then show it! I've so many times watched videos tried it and had issues come up so thank you bev for showing use the whole project.

A double boiler guarantees no scorching... it's as simple as placing a smaller pot of water under your larger pot of soap if you don't have an actual double boiler. I hope this helps next time.

with regard to taking your soap out of wrapper and letting it dry out more ...my Mom did something along those lines. She bought in bulk around every 3months or so. unwrapped all the bars and would put the bars into the dresser drawers, linen closets, clothes, etc...basically any enclosed storage she wanted to have a nice clean scent in. When she put the bars IN she would take OUT the bars that she had stashed 3 months before. She then had a storage bin in each bathroom cabinet for the current supply to be used for bathing. When that ran low...switch the drawer soaps out again with new.
@francesjolly51063 жыл бұрын
If you scorch you can cool it of by sitting it in cold water with ice if you prefer and the scorched product will stick to the to the pot and you can get the good part out by not touching the bottom.

Bev , the best way to rebatch if you don't use a crock pot is in the oven at 250 , it takes a bit of time but works like a charm i have rebatched this way for years. And use quite a bit of water or in your case I would use goat milk ! Just watch it and give it a stir every now and then, add more milk if needed, it will be chunkie but that is not a big deal. As far as scent get a essential oil and add it when the soap cools a bit after you remove it from the oven so as not to burn it off. I am sure you know which would help your FM. It takes about 1/2 ounce to every pd to make a strong scent so start with less for you I would say. And be sure it is body safe oil. Just a few tips if you want to use them I have made soap for 18 years and this method has never faied me.

I think it will be much safer as well to put the water in the pot first that way its at the bottom and will act as a barrier between the soap and the bottom of the pot 👍🏾

It took a long time for my hubby to "like" my homemade soap. Now we can barely tolerate store bought, our skin is so much softer & we have far fewer issues with overly dry skin now. I don't add any color or scent, just pure soap. I'm curious what adding the store bought will do, as far as drying our skin? Another question. I've been told to keep all soap making equipment separate. However, after you go through the the saponification process, shouldn't it all be safe?
@OzarkSoaper7 жыл бұрын
It is best to keep it seperate if making raw soap , but you are correct if you are rebatching it will not hurt to use your food equipment, just wash it well or you will be tasting soap!

Hi Bev ❣️🌿🐦 I love this idea, I have a lot of soap slivers leftover all the time and I just CAN'T throw them away. I think the way you always show your mistakes shows great strength of character and not pretending to be perfect. How would I do this in a slow cooker? It's so hot in my kitchen right now. I'm in Kentucky and it's been around 100 degrees for about 3 weeks. So using my slow cooker would cut out a lot of the heat. Thank you, you're an awesome person. Love Jude, from Kentucky ✝️🥀🐴🇺🇲💚

chevyforddodge4x4 Lol! One of the reasons my husband married me is cause he likes my cooking. Lately I’ve gotten lazy & waited to long to go back into the kitchen to check on food until he yells “what’s burning”? I can usually get away with a little fib & say it wasn’t as bad as it smelled (usually by starting over again). If you like the green & white stripes in Irish Spring, buy the generic. I didn’t know it wasn’t striped any more because we use the generic. For the last year we’ve been using “Dove”, (one thing we like about it is we can use the tag ends to write messages on the bathroom mirror to each other). I decided to make crayon shapes, but ended up with enough for a full soap bar. I didn’t know how to get it to dry out so kept adding the ends once in a while, & have enough for 6 bars & some crayons. I didn’t realize you have to cook the soap! This is the first video I’ve seen that tells why you heat the soap. So, I’m ready to try again. (Hopefully without burning), and should end up with some crayons too!

if you havent already use a microwave use like a pound of soap cut up start grated wld be best in microwave for 1 minute check after 30 to 45 secs stir place back in for like 15 secs at a time until your comfortable add like a tablespoon of water at the start too add in more fragrance if desired/dyes than mix and pour into mold

That's because you normally use the Crock-Pot isn't it? Put it in, put the lot on, "Fug-ged-ab-ow-dit" until the next day. Sorry you had to lose so much and had a scorched smell in the house (is that what alerted you?) but you salvaged it. Not the prettiest soap you ever made but it'll work! 😅
