The advantage of stabilizer is it limits wear on other components. Your balljoints and tie rod ends will last longer.

That's what I'm after, I just replaced the ball joints and I want to extend the life of components, bonus if it stabilizes the vibrations.

Strange that I don't need it, why would my 04 ram 2500 have one installed factory then?

I replaced everything all steering components including track bar ball joint and still had death wobble on a 2016 Ford F-250 (40,000 miles)with that said I put dual stabilizer on and it stopped it. Only thing I didn’t try was castor adjustment. Tires are good and running correct pressure.

I just replaced my sway bar bushings, sway bar links, track bar, tie rod, Tie rod ends, draglink, adjustment sleeve, and the tie rod to pitman arm. Drives much better than before and hasn’t been aligned yet but plan too. Is it necessary to replace my stabilizer? All steering parts are stock

In my case I'd lifted 4.5" and one week later DW apeared, the EOM stabilizer get loosy... so, instaled a dual kit and the problem DW had fixed and the driving get better now than before the lifting... I hope DW do not appear leater on again.

odds are that it will surface again. Stabilizers do not fix death wobble, nor are they the cause. They are just a shock that dampens the side to side motion that creates death wobble

Thanks for the straight to the point video. I bought a used 2010 jeep jk. Pretty soon here I want to upgrade the steering, properly. Where do I start ?

replacing ball joints, tie rod / drag link and making sure your steering geometry is correct is where we would start!

I installed a bds 3in lift and all was well had everything checked out and torqued with full alignment 1500 miles no issues. I upgraded the steering stabilizer to the fox through style mainly just to complete the system and match the fox shocks. Was pulling a trailer and got Death wobble all over the highway. Without the trailer I do not get DW but bumps on the highway I feel light shaking like it’s wants too but doesn’t. Only thing changed after the lift with issue feee driving was the stabilizer even tho that doesn’t make sense. All is tight and track bar is good. It’s a 22 gladiator with 7500 miles so it’s not worn parts. Jeep told me to add a dual stabilizer.. I’m lost lol

If a Jeep dealership told you to add a dual steering stabilizer... run. definitely not the right answer! Here are some things to look out for: The Drag Link and Track Bar need to be as close to parallel as possible. If those cross, you get bump steer that can absolutely lead to death wobble. If the 3" kit didnt come with control arms or something to correct suspension geometry or steering geometry you will need to get those corrected. the added weight of towing will multiply any issues between alignment/suspension geometry and steering geometry.

@@TheOutlawOffroad thank you! I have had nothing but bad “professional work” no matter where I go maybe it’s my location. I installed all 8 adjustable control arms and rear track bar as well. Brought to another shop for adjustment and they had the caster so forward my front springs were pressed against the upper bump stop tube. I removed the uca and put back but it’s been a nightmare

Rust Country, was on my Jeep for a week before I pulled it off and threw it in the garbage, replaced with a RockSport (Metalcloak) which is 1000% better, for not much more of a cost.

Great video.. one question i had was 06 TJ 4" suspension lift approximately 33" tires.. why are you so against the dual stabilizer and wouldn't the dual help stabilize better between the lift and oversized tires?

I have the same thing and my 33 12.50s pull me all over no death wobble I just want some tighter steering.
@TheOutlawOffroad
@TheOutlawOffroad 4 ай бұрын
A dual stabilizer does absolutely nothing to help, and we hate seeing people waste their money on them. a 33" tall tire is not as heavy as one may think. proper steering geometry, proper caster and toe will help keep that jeep centered on the road and a normal stabilizer is more than capable enough to cushion any road feel.

If you're getting pulled all over the road, you need to check balance, steering geometry, and alignment

I’ve heard that stabilizers won’t fix wobble if you have it. But hubs, track bar, and upper and lower control arms are the primary factors of the death wobble to happen.

Just putting this out there, I had a 2007 Rubicon that had no problems at all with the rims that came on the jeep Mickey Thompsons with 35" tires, well they got stolen and I replace with Pro Comp Rims and that's when it all started LOL 4 Wheel Parts would not accept that the Pro Comp Rims would cause Death Wobble so they had me try some new bars etc etc Unbelievably the Tires and Rims showed back up in my Yard after I had to buy the Pro Comps,,,,, Long Story,,,, well I change them back out and it fixed the problem,,, Cheap Rims caused my Death Wobble and 4 Wheel Parts wouldn't fix the problem they just made excuses... Death Wobble is Scary when it happens on the FWY at 65 MPH.

@heartofthunder1440 6 ай бұрын
@@hntgnut obviously the front end of these jeeps are very sensitive to change, you don’t just change 1 thing without going full bore on changing everything. Even then it wouldn’t be right. I’ll have my death wobble fix for awhile, then I have to adjust something else when it starts back up. It’s really chasing your tail around the whole problem. I have ABS and Traction control on, on my jeep. It runs and operates fine though. Ain’t nothing that a piece of electrical tape won’t fix.

Do they not help you track better with a set of bigger tires ?
@TheOutlawOffroad
@TheOutlawOffroad 4 ай бұрын
they do not. A proper alignment, tire pressure and steering geometry will help track better and a single stabilizer is more than enough to accommodate that

@ajlanter8242
@ajlanter8242 Жыл бұрын
this is partial wrong bc a bad stabilizer could definitely cause DW, other things can do it but the one i jus replaced had like 1.5” of play in it where i could jus move it back and fourth with no resistance. simply going to a different brand won’t change anything, but if the stabilizer is faulty it definitely would fix it
@TheOutlawOffroad
@TheOutlawOffroad Жыл бұрын
we will have to disagree here. A stabilizer is only acting as a dampener between the road and your steering components. A worn out stabilizer or dampener will no longer dampen the effects of worn out steering components. Replacing a worn out stabilizer with a new one will continue to mask other issues.

Thanks for the info. I don't have death wobble in my 21 F250, but I hate the way the wheel jumps around in my hand on shitty roads. SO I think at some point I'll do a stabilizer, but now I won't even consider a double stabilizer.

I had a 2002 Xterra for over 20 years until the wife wrecked it. It was a beast and the best vehicle I've ever owned, no question. When I had to unfortunately replace it, I went with 2016 Jeep Wrangler JKU. It looks great, and is easy enough to work on. However. this Death Wobble thing is bullshit! I mean, WTF! Really! Death fUHkin Wobble shouldn't be a thing guys come on! Let's bug the shite out of Stellantis and/or stop buying these vehicles until they make them safe. This is unacceptable.

You provided no hard evidence other than you saying they dont do anything. Seems like they work well for many people. So even if all they do is help reduce wear and extend the life of all your steering joints, why are they bad? Seems like your evidence is pretty subjective. Even if they just help dampen steering, how is that bad? You really didn't make much of a case against them except "steering stabilizers are a waste of money cause i said they dont do anything but dampen steering, so dont buy them and waste money." Was really hoping this would be an informative video with some sort of hard results or scientific test. Turns out it's more of an opinion peice.
