Yeah I think you have the right of it. It's not that you already need to have amazing dexterity to become a surgeon, but if you do become one you'll develop amazing dexterity along the way, probably quite a bit by the time you're fully qualified with how much school and practice that lies along the way. This pertains to just about anything in life as well and people need to realize, it's about setting your sights on a goal and working toward it, not feeling like you have to be prematurely "gifted" to do anything.

A lot of surgeons play videogames and even just doing fine motor control with joysticks like that on a regular basis goes a long way to making someone steady enough to successfully do surgery. You do need steady hands to be a great surgeon but it's not like you absolutely have to have preternaturally good nerves to be a surgeon, there's plenty of orthopedic surgeons that have stone hands from beating in implants and literally swinging sledges in the OR as part of their job.

the heart is a big muscle so what i mean is it is a large structure „anyone“ could operate in general: the smaller the structure the steadier the hands have to be for example eye surgery

But it definitely helps lol. I’m not trained as a surgeon but I have to perform surgery on animals for research, and shaky hands caused by all the caffeine definitely makes things way more annoying

can i ask you a genuine question? my hands never shaked from caffein, i usually drink 2-3 cups of coffee. How much is usually needed for your hands to shake? (in your experience)

@@fizipcfx I usually drink two cups a day. And that’s enough to make my hands shaky. So on the days that I need to perform surgeries I usually cut that back to 1 cup or no coffee at all. But not all people are affected by caffeine the same way. One of my colleagues drinks coffee like almost nonstop but his hands are completely fine.

I build and repair electrical components and it’s more less the same thing. They deal with blood, I battle against flux. Now in my opinion, being a surgeon is far more difficult. If I fail a repair, 99% of the time we have backup plans and can almost always get our clients a favorable result. Surgeon have so many more variables in play, let alone dealing with their conscience after being unsuccessful
