McLaren's win in Miami has shown that Max Verstappen can be beaten, even when his brakes are working as intended! Granted we did need that safety car but is there actually more behind this Norris victory than we initially realized? Let's take a look!

A constructors title battle is more likely. Max is gonna beat Lando no problem, but Perez gonna Perez, whereas McLaren have arguably the strongest driver lineup on the grid.

The one thing that gives me hope on this is that Andreas said they had a good degree of correlation now in design vs track --- that's a massive step if true since that seems to be what's continuing to kill the mercs --- if they can design parts that genuinely yield positive results on track then we have a chance here

The Redbull last year was leagues ahead of everyone in Miami, and to be 2nd fastest now? I don't think it's a one-off, but we wait to see what the Imola upgrades will do.

@andrupka8749 nope, very not true, the "damage" was Redbull trying to cover off why Verstappen was slower than Norris, Verstappen himself admitted the car didn't feel any different after the "damage". The older tyres are really no excuse because the Redbull was the best at preserving those tyres, it showed almost 0 degradation and 0 loss of pace at tracks where degradation was an all time high, the McLaren package did wonders and that is evident with Piastri matching Verstappen's pace with half the upgrades of Norris. The McLaren pace is definitely very real and works very well, especially considering that this track isn't the best for McLaren. The McLaren car struggled so much with low and medium speed corners but thrived at high speed corners, so we didn't even see the true full potential of the McLaren, and we will see that in Imola. This all might sound delusional, but are now at the stage of 2007-2008, almost at the ceiling of performance, and not much more the teams could do to extract performance out of the cars, if we're not getting a title fight this year, we are getting one the next.

@andrupka8749 he has been complaining about the car all weekend long, since FP1 till the race the car just didn't work as it usually does, and it's not only Verstappen, the whole grid just had 0 grip, even Norris, but Norris struggled less.

@@foxy126pl6 It's feels more like an excuse than anything else, Max said that he felt 0 difference before and after hitting the bollard. Just like what they said about Perez in Australia. It probably did cause damage but Red Bull are implying that the damage was the cause of the McLaren win is a bit too much. Norris had better pace than Max before he hit it.

Since Max would have won that race if that SC hadn't messed up and just caught Norris as it should have, its clearly a no. Commence the Max grid destruction program in Imola, everyone will be sorry for claiming that Max/RB are over. Max is going to win every remaining race from now on, just because he can.

Personally I thing that if there a team that will be able to bring a fight with Red Bull it will be Ferrari, they had no major upgrades on their cars since Bahreïn and they still are close-ish performance wise and with the planned Imola upgrades and the so called "SF-24 2.0", they talk about actually bring a fight for wins. McLaren will be there when there's occasion but a full-on title fight with Red Bull or even Ferrari is rather optimistic.

I think it's possible that Verstappen gets beat in a couple more races, but a title battle? I don't think so. But this season is already better than 2023 as we've had 2 winners other than Verstappen in just the first 6 races. Hopefully at least that will continue for the rest of the season 🙏

Well... in the 2 races after this video, RB scored a total of 33 points (29 of those for Verstappen) and McLaren 60 (30 each). Ferrari did 65 (40 for Leclerc). Considering that none of those races had any rain and none of the cars broke down, one could almost hope...

My thoughts are: You're smart enough to know that there's no downside to be "jumping the gun" on this situation. If you're wrong, everyone will write it off to wishful thinking (and you hedge enough anyway). If you're right, you'll appear to be prescient.

My feeling is that ultimately the answer is no, but we're not going to see what happened last year again. I could see it following a similar pattern to the season so far; 2/3 race streaks of wins for Verstappen, but with more races like Australia and Miami where someone else is in the position to win. Couple more wins for McLaren, couple more wins for Ferrari, maybe a win or two for Checo, but still ultimately not an especially tough season for Verstappen.

Lando dictated the pace in Miami after the safety car, which was surprising. But without technical problems for Max, there's no way there will be a title fight. McLaren tend to have bad luck in races, too. Its been interesting to see them doing well though!

Redbulls weakness is getting the car setup right, every sprint weekend limits that time, they have struggled over the last year at every sprint, (no KZfaq personalitys seem to pick up on this fact, probably because Max still wins) Imola will have more then just fp1, so i expect Max and the team to get the setup dialed in. Whats more likely....that mcclaren and lando will keep this form or max in the RB? Max has a 53 point lead on norris. Even IF his form were to hold up he'd have to essentially be winning racws from here on out to bridge the gap. A bad day for max is P2 Speculation on this is nonsense on many levels

No Will, It's Max and Red Bull in 24 as well. Red Bull had both engines turned down 1 step in Miami because they were having cooling problems from the sprint. Add 3/10ths pace back to Max. Also, the brake cooling is still an issue for the RB 20, it won't be fixed for Imola, but it will be fixed before too long. So, barring all the coming upgrades and what they bring Red Bull still has .5secs in the bag with cooling remediations. YIKES!

I think we're in for an exciting battle for P2 in the Driver standings, especially since Ferrari are getting closer to Red Bull too. As for who's taking the fight to Red Bull themselves, it's gonna be the Contructor's that we'll have to look at there. Checo is going to be fine, he's just sadly not better than the pair of Ferraris or McLarens.

Two of my predictions for this season were that McLaren were gonna be closer to Red Bull but not within striking distance of a championship and Lando was going to get his first win Call me a genius To be honest I don’t really believe there will be a championship fight but like I said I believe the dominance won’t be as strong, maybe like 2022 where it was still very dominant but others did win like George, Carlos, Charles and Perez Great video as per mate 💪

No the title fight is not on. Max usually has a 5 tenth per lap advantage over 2nd place. McLaren made upgrades to close the gap and was faster than the Ferrari. But Max wasn’t 5 tenths quicker than the Ferraris only about a tenth or two. This means Miami was an off week for Redbull allowing other teams to get closer, therefore making the gap smaller than what it’ll be over the whole season. Plus at the end a strong Lando had 10 lap newer tires than a weak Max.

Depends on which championship: The Drivers: Probably not. The Constructors: Maybe... Sergio Perez is in a weird place right now, he is very inconsistent in his Red Bull, often being outpaced by both Ferrari's and McLaren's. Not all of this is his fault of course, the car wasn't designed around him it was designed around Max, and Max probably gets all the upgrades before Sergio gets any. But if McLaren and Ferrari continue to regularly beat him (and occasionally beat Max), expect the pressure on Checo in particular to increase. And if Sergio does struggle, expect the question of his Red Bull future to become very loud. (Also it would be nice to see Red Bull lose something as a result of their historic mistreatment of their second car, Sergio, Albon, Gasly have all shown in other teams that they are extremely talented drivers, the problem isn't their driving skill, the problem is Red Bull.)
