Actually Magsafe already tried to solve alot of these problem. Thats why they are little slower than other solution from Android world because they dynamically change the charging wattage based on temperature of both the phone and charger, another thing is they also add magnet to align the coils to reduce the waste of power.

My coworker bought an iPhone 12 Pro Max, which she has on a wireless charger all day, about six months ago and her battery health is now at 92% which to me seems kind of low for a phone that old. Another coworker who has had an iPhone 12 mini for about four months and who uses the cable to charge has 100% battery health.
@mocha6315
@mocha6315 2 жыл бұрын
That is a very unreliable claim because battery health is also dependant to the user’s usage and his/her charging habit. If you use a lot of performance heavy apps, the phone will heat up very easily hence it will degrade your battery health much faster no matter which charging option you go. There are a lot of combinations we can do here but the optimal usage is most probably using low performance dependent apps and also constantly using low power wireless charger between 20 - 80% because you will easily hit 100% when using the cable, unless you have a complete confidence that you will always pull out your cable before 90%.
@MrMartis913

@mocha6315
@mocha6315 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrMartis913 it is unreliable because you do not provide any context. The only information you gave is your coworker used wireless charging for six months and it drops to 92%. You didn’t gave informations like how frequent they charge their phones per day or their apps usage which hugely impacts their battery health. Your claim is absolutely stupid and not worth to take note for. Edit: grammar
@MrMartis913
@MrMartis913 2 жыл бұрын
@@mocha6315 It’s funny how you say “not worth to take note for” and yet here you are taking note of it. I did say she has her phone on the charger “all day” but no, I didn’t state her app usage because I don’t know it and I don’t need to know it. My first comment was essentially a hypothesis, not a conclusion, which you seem to have difficulty understanding. You said my claim was “absolutely stupid”. There is no reason to be rude. I’m sorry you can’t get laid, but don’t take it out on me.

I have purchased an aftermarket wireless dock, but still using my 5mAh charging brick from apple store. Don't think I get the full 15w fast charging, but it still charges pretty fast. Think I'll test with cable, but I doubt I can get the full 15w charge using this brick so I think I'm technically not "fast-charging" the phone. Feel free to tell me if I'm wrong. i wonder the same. I want to put a wireless charger on my desk. This way my phone will never fall below 20% and i will do my best to not charge it to %100. They say this is the best way to preserve battery life. So having wireless charger is both easier to charge and comfortable but also it is good for battery health.

2:21 - charge cycles isn't just about going from 0-100. It is any time the battery cycles from charging>use/discharging>charging. That's why older NiMH/NiCd trickle chargers destroyed Li-based batteries, because it continually tops out the battery as soon as "charge" is spent or lost. So a wireless charger repeatedly charging your phone from 100%>99>100>99 eats up charge cycles... and so is placing it on the dock, using it for a minute, placing it back on the dock, check your text, place it back, etc.

Interesting thanks. Quick question though: does it impact taking the phone off and on the MagSafe charger ? I use the MagSafe thing as a holder for the phone. If I go to the kitchen or feed the cat I remove the phone from it. So over a day I probably ‘start’ a charge about ten times. Does that impact battery life ? I’d be curious to have a video about car charging… I’ve heard a couple of times car’s power outlet aren’t super consistent in the power flow and that could hurt devices.

I just brought a 15-watt wireless duo charger from Samsung 2 days back. I'm using a Samsung note 20 ultra phone. The wireless charger comes with a 25-watt wall charger adapter just like my phone which even out of the box has a 25-watt wall charger adapter to plug in. Due to the Usage of the Samsung wireless charger Will degrade my phone's battery or not? Since it's manufactured by Samsung do I need to worry? One more doubt is for a 15-watt wireless charger why does Samsung give 25-watt wall charger adapter?

Charging more often does not equal less cycles because two half charges will still equal one charge or one cycle but it could still be better for the battery overtime.
@pureby

The first part of your comment is not correct. Two half-charges from 25-75% will degrade your battery *much* less than one full charge from 0-100%.
@wajih228
@wajih228 Жыл бұрын
@@pureby could you explain why because charge cycles confuse me
@pureby
@pureby Жыл бұрын
@@wajih228 Without getting too technical: rechargable batteries "rest" at 50%. 0% and 100% are the two most stressful states. Think of a battery as your stomach -- you won't feel good after eating 3 portions of food in a row, neither will you if you have eaten nothing for the full day. But you feel perfectly fine somewhere in-between lunch and dinner. Besides, going to 0% triggers chemical processes which facilitate battery degradation. Going to 100% produces extra heat, which too degrades battery. The best practice is to charge your batteries at least 10-90 instead of 0-100. This can literally make your battery last years longer.

Charging %10 to %100 everytime doesnt degenerate your battery. For my last 4 phones, i always plug it in nights at %10-20 and get it at full in the morning. None of my phones battery died before the phone itself died. The point is you can charge 50-80 or 10-50 or 5-100, everytime it affects battery as one cycle and degrade it same amount.

The 20% thing is a myth, or is now that battery tech has improved enough to only complete a cycle of your battery no matter when or how much it is charged.
@AdrenalinnVapor
@AdrenalinnVapor Жыл бұрын
It's not a myth, it's actual battery chemistry. A complete cycle count has nothing to do with the 20 and 80% sweet spot. Yes discharging a battery from 80% to 30% twice equates to a complete cycle, but it is way easier on the battery than going from 100 to 0%. The amount of cycles on a battery is only a portion of the impact on longevity, excessive heat and being in the upper and lower 20% are two big things that degrade lithium batteries much quicker.
