@@oklevetanihrvati3698 It's evidence that the U.S.A. is not a pure theocracy, and has _some_ secular laws and values, among them legal (if not always actual) freedom of speech. Unfortunately, while the constitution and laws may define a secular nation, the reality is that the U.S. is far from secular in many respects. Until, _"In God We Trust"_ is removed from the currency, _"Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: 'In God is our trust.' "_ is removed from the national anthem, and presidents stop invoking God on a regular basis, the U.S. cannot claim to be a truly secular nation with any credibility.

@Alex McAuliff - Are you still pitching that "indoctrination" bullshit? I am your counter-example to debunk your idea. I was raised in a non-religious home. I wasn't even told I could choose my own religion. Religion was a topic that was never discussed in my childhood home. I came to faith in God and Jesus Christ through my own reasoning. I learned evolution and secular thinking in public school (now, _that's_ indoctrination). When I was introduced to the idea that there is a God, that biblical creation is how everything came to exist, and the rest of the biblical narrative, including God becoming a man, Jesus Christ, and dying for our sins and rising from the dead and still being God, I found that these ideas made more sense than what I had been taught in school. I am a rebellious sort of person and don't give a crap what others think of me. If someone calls me a heretic, I really don't care. In fact, I argue with Christians rather frequently because many of them have got their Christianity all screwed up. Very few actually follow the Bible. Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox churches are doctrinal hot, soft, stinky messes. As for anything you said - it's debunked right here.

I've been an atheist for about 20 years now and I've come to accept that at the bottom of everyone's worldview are axioms that are not based on reason or science. Some call them self-evident truths, others call them intuitions. The closest thing to a foundation based on pure reason are axioms based on performative contradictions - which have their own problems. The danger of being secular is that we all hold non-scientific premises as if they were different from religious premises. Just take one of the popular premises of today: Equality. There are plenty of explanations to describe why it is an ideal but they are all just rationalizations of why people have it as a premise. It cannot be actually justified scientifically. In this manner, non-scientific premises creep into society as secular premises and we get self righteous intellectuals thinking they are being rational while banning or cancelling others who don't agree with their so-called secular views that in reality are just gods in disguise. Secularism is useless at best; and at worse it is a great camouflage for terrible premises that lead to destruction.

NY Times Aug. 14, 2018 Bishops and other leaders of the Roman Catholic Church in Pennsylvania covered up child sexual abuse by more than 300 priests over a period of 70 years, persuading victims not to report the abuse and law enforcement not to investigate it, according to a searing report issued by a grand jury on Tuesday. The report, which covered six of the state’s eight Catholic dioceses and found more than 1,000 identifiable victims, is the broadest examination yet by a government agency in the United States of child sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. The report said there are likely thousands more victims whose records were lost or who were too afraid to come forward. It catalogs horrific instances of abuse: a priest who raped a young girl in the hospital after she had her tonsils out; a victim tied up and whipped with leather straps by a priest; and another priest who was allowed to stay in ministry after impregnating a young girl and arranging for her to have an abortion. The sexual abuse scandal has shaken the Catholic Church for more than 15 years, ever since explosive allegations emerged out of Boston in 2002. But even after paying billions of dollars in settlements and adding new prevention programs, the church has been dogged by a scandal that is now reaching its highest ranks. The Pennsylvania report comes soon after the resignation of Cardinal Theodore E. McCarrick, the former archbishop of Washington, who is accused of sexually abusing young priests and seminarians, as well as minors. “Despite some institutional reform, individual leaders of the church have largely escaped public accountability,” the grand jury wrote. “Priests were raping little boys and girls, and the men of God who were responsible for them not only did nothing; they hid it all. For decades.” The report is unlikely to lead to new criminal charges or civil lawsuits under the current law because the statute of limitations has expired. Only two of the cases in the report so far have led to criminal charges. End of article. While religious people roleplay about magic, superstition and invisible Jewish zombie overlords, their churches keep molesting children and accumulating material wealth. If you are a xtian, you are responsible for supporting your parasitic priests and your evil church. Civil society isn't pleased to see you. You superstitions are not needed and your invisible friends are false and ridiculous. You are obtuse, arrogant, ignorant and should be ashamed to be a facilitator for those who hurt children. Religion is disgusting and dangerous. STOP NOW.

@@matthewfuoss2622 Want to point out something here in either a freudian slip or a moment of honesty I'm actually pretty amazed was drawn out. The reason religion is still alive is how many people had it force-fed to them with death, torment, or at least ostracism being the alternative. Calling that a choice is laughable, at the very least. The circumstances haven't changed much in recent years. It has taken a whole movement and indications toward a vast number of horror crimes committed in the name of god to start changing the paradigm. Everywhere are still stories of people stating their parents haven't spoken to them since kicking them out because they denied their god. There are still stories of people being put to death for blasphemy in the modern day. There are still reports of torture in order to squeeze people into cookie cutters and fundamentally denying who they are just so others can feel good about torturing in the name of faith. The world needs this shift toward secularism.
@theruntofirishmusic
@theruntofirishmusic 4 жыл бұрын
When I was a child I was abused by a catholic. In between torture sessions she used to read me and my brother stories about martyrs and “holly” nuns who slept on broken crockery. When I was ten years old I was in church and I told myself that I didn’t believe in any of it. In my early twenty’s I experimented with various spiritual ideas. I ended up in a dangerous and exploitative cult. Eventually I broke away but I lost my brother to the cult. For many years, since, I have been interested in Buddhism, but I have come to realise that I am not interested in the religious side of Buddhism. I am interested in the psychological and philosophical side of Buddhism. I no longer believe that I need to reach some stage of “enlightenment”. Recently I have been listening to Richard Dawkins on KZfaq and I think it right that he raises the questions that he does. For thousands of years people have believed in all kinds of barmy nonsense in the name of religion. Some on that nonsense is harmless but some of it is very nasty indeed, as I know from my own experience.

@John Michael Strubhart The greathest trick that Satan has made is to try convince the human kind tha Satan does not exist. The consequence of accepting that hypotesis, is that is that Bible is wrong, another consequence is that 'Biblical God' does not exist. Let's begin with that. So, if that is true, that would mean that only science is your 'God'. The science does not need the God existence hypotesis. That is true since the science methodology is institucionalised (you could try experiment in your own laboratory). If we accept all of this hypotesis, you end up with contradiction. That is that all science theories has been proven wrong. In the end. Let's start with your question. The Karl Marx stated that God does not exist, and that Bible is not holy schripture. If we take that as a fact, than, 'everithing is allowed' since there is not reference point in realiti by which we can measure what is right and what is wrong. If everithing is allowed than all actions are allowed in order to reach utopia (in reality distopia). If you would study the means to achieve this (Holodomor, Bleibur, Holocaust ect.) maybe your heart would find its path to the God.
@JohnMichaelStrubhart2022
@JohnMichaelStrubhart2022 5 жыл бұрын
@@oklevetanihrvati3698 You first have to establish that Satan exists as a real entity outside of the minds of believers. Same is true with God, but if you can show that one of them exists, it increases the credence that the other does also. The Bible is demonstrably wrong about several things, unless you employ special pleading to make your case that it is not. How would you rate your scientific literacy on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being a working scientist? Of course, all scientific theories are wrong to some degree as all of them are incomplete, but that's not important. That science works very well is the important issue. The fact that we're having this conversation on a KZfaq channel is testament to that overwhelming fact. Atheism is not the starting point of Karl Marx's political theory, nor is it a central idea. It's more of a side note. Holding religious beliefs was never illegal in the Soviet Union, but having a church without government permission was. Soviet or Mao style communism was a bad idea, because people are corrupt when given power. I've studied many religious writings, both ancient and modern. I simply don't find them compelling. I think a more useful approach is for people to actually get out and help each other rather than praying that things will get better. Anyway, the point of this video is that some people are secular. We matter. Some people are religious. They matter too. It gets bad when religion tries to force its dogma on those who don't accept it. Secularism doesn't do anything like that. We have a secular government, which means that religion shouldn't be considered when making laws. Our secular educational system doesn't promote atheism or religion, and that's the way it should be. Let parents instruct their children on beliefs, and let people choose lifestyles that conform to their own consciences, whether that is driven by religion or humanism. I fail to see why that could ever be a problem.

The Apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. 3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

God loves genocide. Genesis 6-8, Genesis 18-19, Exodus 11-12, Numbers 21:2-3, Deuteronomy 20:17, Joshua 6:17-21, and FINALLY 1 Samuel 15 all tell us what a loving god he is. Mass murder is his pastime. Men, women, and children all. Matter of fact, he makes explicit points of killing children in Psalm 137! "Happy is he who repays what you have done to us/ He who seizes YOUR INFANTS AND DASHES THEM AGAINST THE ROCKS." To be clear, I don't think that was a metaphor. That was an absolute statement of "kill all the little children." That isnt the end of killing children, though. Turn to Genesis 22 for Abraham being directed to sacrifice Isaac. Sure, he didn't go through with it (only because God stopped him.) Fear not, if we look ahead to Judges 11:30-1, 34-5 then a daughter of a believer is sacrificed to God and they go through with it. Fortunately, she was a girl. Females are lesser in the eyes of Christians, so the blow is reduced a little. Briefly we take a peek at 1 Timothy 2:12 where it starts to color the fact of biblical female inferiority. To help color in the picture, Judges 19:25-28 says if we're being chased by a mob, throw the concubine to them and they'll leave you alone to rape her. If you're looking for package deals, there are murder/pillage/rape orders in Numbers 31:7-18, Deuteronomy 20:10-14, and Samuel 12:11-14. I could have morality all wrong, but God's law seems like it has a few flaws. Man's law may not be perfect, but at least it let's me eat shellfish while wearing a cotton/polyester blend and NOT condemning me to death by rocks. Keep believing your bible is truth and I'll keep telling you why that's bad for humanity.

If I was the creator of a sentient species, here is what I would hope for them: 1) That at some point their intelligence would evolve past the point of just being able to survive and reproduce.... 2) That they would develope critical thought, beyond their basic instincts, and begin to contemplate and understand the nature of their surrounding environment.... 3) That understanding their environment would grant them the skeptical insight necessary to discern reality from their dreams and imaginations.... 4) That they would use their dreams and imaginations to form ideas... 5) That they would use their ideas to form creations... 6) That they would use their creations to begin shaping their environment into a reality that THEY saw fit...... Then, IF they made it that far, I would just sit back, watch what they became, and cross my fingers that they wouldn't blow up themselves or my basement in the process.🔥🔥🔥

My advice is don't hold your breath waiting for a "secular nation." Religion is the basis on which all societies and nations are founded; religious commonality creates the value basis, behavioral basis, common rules, and trust basis that all cultures require. This may be painful for some to hear, but religion is the basis either directly or indirectly, and will continue to be, the basis of any given society. A society does not create religion, like Marx insisted; it is the other way: a religion creates a society. Each religion creates a society of its image. Every Lutheran society is a Sweden; every Calvinist society is a Switzerland; every Catholic society is an Italy, every Orthodox society is a Greece. Likewise, every Sunni society is a Saudi-Arabia, every Shia society is an Iran, every Mahayana society is a Vietnam, every Theravada society is a Myanmar, every Hindu society is India and on and on and on. Religion matters to the society much more than the ethnicity of which it is composed of; this is why I can go to church on Sunday in a room full of every race imaginable, and no one cares. The fact that we are all Christians is the only relevancy. Religion is the mortar which adheres the individual human bricks of the society together. Remove it, and the society will collapse. The reason is twofold. First, you cannot create stable ethics on basis of atheism. As there is no perception of greater "supernatural" forces at work (call it God, karma, or whatever you choose), there is no deterrent of playing foul other than what the society can punish you. Thus, every atheist society needs to create "hell" themselves. The second reason is collapse of birth rates. Atheists don’t create many children. Atheists have usually no children, and if they do, at most one or two. There is no such thing as a “fourth generation atheist.” All atheist societies throughout the history have collapsed, USSR being the most remarkable. This is also the reason why the KGB held anti-religious subversion so important: its main intent was to undermine the Western societies within. It succeeded beyond all expectations! A society can stand a minority of its members being atheists; once this amount exceeds a certain limit, decay and eventual collapse follows. No atheist society or ideal community has ever lasted even one hundred years. They have all collapsed on their own, usually from internal disputes. Religious societies and ideal communities, like monasteries, can and have lasted for millennia. People are hard-wired psychologically and emotionally for belief, not disbelief. In cultural evolution, atheism represent a memetic vacuum, an empty memetic niche. As in biological evolution, such niche is certain to get filled by a way or another. It is all about cultural evolution and the memetic struggle of existence. A strong memeplex will supersede weaker memeplexes, not to speak of memetic vacuums. Religions are not for individuals. Religions are for societies. And a religion-less society is basically a heap of bricks ready to pushed down. It is very likely Islam will prevail in Europe within 100 years or so and overthrow both atheism and Christianity - by sheer violence. No one will ever fly a jet into a skyscraper as a demonstration of their "disbelief." Religion inspires, motivates, and enjoins people with astonishing effectiveness. Strength and cohesiveness in groups is founded on common beliefs, not common disbeliefs.

I've always found "agnostic" to be a weird, nonsensical position, too. Agnostic comes from the word "gnosis", to know, and the a- means not, in this case not knowing whether a god exists or not, but that has nothing to with belief. I think the way most people would define an atheist as someone who doesn't believe, a theist as someone who does believe, and an agnostic as someone who doesn't know if they believe. But that's nonsense. Like you said, you either believe, or you don't, there's nothing in between. I call myself an agnostic atheist, meaning I don't claim to know whether a god exists or not, but I sure don't believe it.

Secularism is the state of being separate from religion, or of not being exclusively allied with or against any particular religion. Oh, no that's not me. I believe we should throw out ALL religious beliefs as nonsense. As soon as we confirm that a religious belief is nonsense, then it should be thrown out that second. I realize these beliefs (you call it) are in our future, and secularism is the path to get to it. Therefore I agree with present secularism, but definitely I wish it would hurry up and move to the next level. Religion is dying, sorry secularists, get use to it.

The way which leads to peace, joy and happiness, is through Immanuel (the anointed one) called Jesus. Where through him we shall avoid all religions; for religions are all led by the many blind guides and false prophets who are misleading us, including the Pope and Christianity. When only Immanuel called Jesus, was sent by the Lord our God, to be always our one Teacher and to set us free from all religions… “I will put my dwelling place among you, and I will not spurn you. I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people.” - (Leviticus 26: 11-12) - “I will raise up for them a prophet like you [Moses] from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth.” - (Deuteronomy 18: 18) - “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign: A young woman is with child, and she will bear a son, and will call him Immanuel.” [“God is with us”] - (The Prophet Isaiah 7: 14) - “If you have ears to hear: then hear.” - (Jesus Immanuel, the Messiah, at Mark 4: 23) - “God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” - (Jesus, at John 4: 24) - “In truth I tell you, anyone who gives heed to what I say and puts his trust in him who sent me, has hold of eternal life and does not come up for judgement, but has already passed from death to life.” - (at John 5: 24) - “Beware of false prophets, men who come to you dressed up as sheep while underneath they are savage wolves. You will recognize them by the fruits they bear.” - (at Matthew 7: 15-16) - “Any plant that is not of my heavenly Father’s planting will be rooted up. Leave them alone; they are blind guides, and if one blind man guides another they will both fall into the ditch.” - (Matthew 15: 13-14) - “Do not call any man on earth ‘father’; for you have one Father and he is in heaven. Nor must you be called ‘teacher’; you have one Teacher, the Messiah.” - (Matthew 23: 9-10) - “I am the light of the world. No follower of mine shall wander in the dark; he shall have the light of life.” - (Jesus, at John 8: 12) - “Take care that no one misleads you: For many will come claiming my name…” - (Matthew 24: 4) - “Many false prophets will arise, and will mislead many; and as lawlessness spreads, men’s love for one another will grow cold. But the man who holds out to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the Kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the earth as a testimony to all nations; and then the end will come.” - (Matthew 24: 11-14) - “You shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” - (John 8: 32) - “When you pray, go into a room by yourself, and shut the door. Pray to your Father who is there in the secret place; and your Father who sees what is secret will reward you. In your prayers do not go babbling on like the heathen, who imagine that the more they say the more likely they are to be heard. Do not imitate them. Your Father knows what your needs are before you ask him. This is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come; your will be done, on earth as in heaven, Give us today our daily bread, Forgive us the wrong we have done, as we have forgiven those who have wronged us. And do not bring us to the test, but save us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, for ever. Amen. For if you forgive others the wrongs they have done, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others, then the wrongs you have done will not be forgiven by your Father.” - (Matthew 6: 6-15) - “Pass no judgement, and you will not be judged. For as you judge others, so you will yourselves be judged, and whatever measure you deal out to others will be dealt back to you.” - (Matthew 7: 1-2) - “Truly I tell you; if anyone obeys my teaching he shall never know what it is to die.” - (John 8: 51) - “Always treat others as you would like them to treat you: that is the Law and the Prophets. Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.” - (Matthew 7: 12-14) - “I am the gate; anyone who comes into the fold through me shall be safe. He shall go in and out and shall find pasturage. The thief comes only to steal, to kill, to destroy; I have come that men may have life, and may have it in all its fullness.” - (John 10: 9-10) - “I am the resurrection and I am life. Everything in the Law and the Prophets hangs on these two commandments.’” - (Matthew 22: 35-40) - “There is no greater love than this, that a man should lay down his life for his friends.” - (John 15: 13) - "Stay awake, and pray that you may be spared the test: The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." - (Matthew 26: 41) - “My task is to bear witness to the truth. Show the mathematics how life started and became so advanced. Remember a system with only 42 parts is one to the 50 odds. The human body has 5000 name parts some repeated millions of times in the right place and shape and size. So instead of the common name calling and rudeness that I get from atheist( You are adults now not 5th graders...Act like a Responsible adult)... Give your math step-by-step how this could happen.

@@deanpd3402 The nazis had "Gott mit uns" on their belts. "God with us" in case you aren't familiar with German. Just to make a point, let's not forget...

Creationism should not be taught in public schools for the same reason CRT and wokeism shouldn't. Schools are for education, not indoctrination. Creationism is the "CRT" of the religious right wing.
