Just started doing this about a month ago and haven’t shot under 720 in league since. It’s a good system

One thing I had a hard time grasping at first for aiming was that you don't generally walk towards your target. You can, but I feel like it adds a layer of complexity that's not necessary. I want to end up at the same spot at the end of my approach as where I started. People walk straight and angle their body towards their target. Realizing that made it easier for me to visualize trajectory

They say you're never too old to learn. This intrigues me very much. I have tried similar targeting in the past but it just feels beyond weird and I revert back to old familiar ways. I'll give this an honest try and see if it works for me. Thanks JR.

I just bowled league with this in mind, and immensely improved my game. I had a problem with the ball not travelling diagonally right enough when playing way left at the foul line, making the ball go Brooklyn side a lot. This video made me realize that I am getting fooled by my own vision - I was just not creating enough angle towards the right! I adjusted my target by half an arrow to the right - and it looked like it was going to go in the gutter - but the ball drew a beautiful trajectory on the lanes, breaking at where I wanted it to, and giving me a flush strike over and over. Thank you so much!

I am glad you uploaded this video I am 1 year into bowling and stopped looking at the arrow I look at the dot and make my adjustments. Thought it was wrong to do, thanks for the feedback.

I think shooting straight at single pin spares (and the ones that straight is better on) helps with this immensely. It really gives you a feeling of trajectory. If you're not used to it, it sucks at first, but long term its way better.

Thanks for the advice always appreciated really helping me out. Bowling can be a frustrating game when it is just a big mystery and there is a lot of knowledge out on the web. Feel like Bowling can really expand because of the internet.

I target the same way. I always aim at the dots and not the arrows. Arrows causes me to roll to fast and off target.

So the rule of 7 is for the dots on the lane and not the arrows? That makes more sense to me now because as I see bowlers move left if looking at the arrows it’s way more than 7 boards

I line up between 21-23, depend on lane condition. I throw the DV8 AlleyCat. What works for me is I target about 15 and throw at the 6 pin. As game progresses I shift far target to between the 6 and 10 still lines up at 21-23 aiming for 15. Usually by the 3 game I’m throwing at the 10 pin with everything the same.

Great video! If you have time could you go over where exactly one’s eyes should be looking. I find my self running my eyes through the ball path but when I release I’m looking at the reflection of the 6 pin. Is there any rule on where my eyes have to be at release or is what ever works?

So when using this method where are you locking your eyes in at? Personally i have been keeping my eyes on the board i want to cross at the arrows. But dialing it back to be even closer seems interesting. Looking farther down lane as a lot of people mention to me to do when they want me to "push" more or get the ball out to the right later. is a real struggle for me, i start doing some weird stuff with my release when i do that cause its uncomfortable.

In general do most pros target at the arrows or dots? I've tried both and have more success aiming at arrows because it keeps my head up and balance in tune.

Jr love the targeting advice but i have one question, are you saying pick a zone like 12, 13, 14 but still aim for 13? If you want to hit 14 and hit 12 thats 4 boards or so of a miss down lane vs aiming for 13 and missing 1 board left or right for only 2 board or so down lane? Just looking for some clarification iade any sense. Still great content as always

Really Informative 👍- I am Left Eye Dominant but Right Handed... How should I target at the arrows if I want to hit say 15?
@richarddawson2892
@richarddawson2892 8 ай бұрын
With left eye dominance you will miss the target by three boards left. Some just target three boards right of your desired target to compensate. But an alternative is setting your body angles in your stance and walking straight to the foul line. Extend your visual targeting down to the break point. Shorter targets like dots and arrows get distorted. Getting the body properly angled in the stance and repeating your finish consistently at the foul line is just as important as visually lining up a shot.

As I release the ball, should my eyes be looking at the dots, the arrows, the line to the break point or the pins? I follow a line but I'm not sure where my focus should be as I approach the line.
