Dan makes some good points. My advice for someone who loses a lot of money with the fish hooks would be to play them similarly to the way they would play a pair of 9s or 10s. It can be a big mistake to play them like they are aces or kings, especially when a lot of players are in the hand.

Daniel I have a good question what if we are deep into a tournament and two tables left and usually the final table pays so around a 50/100 person tournament usually I end up mid to low stacked and to my right is a top chip stack .....he seems to be splashing around early from position 3/4 x and stealing blinds is this a good way with jj 1010 99 to limp call a raise if it comes or just raise from the small blind usually bigger stacks exploit me by min raising or just shoving how often should I balance this is it just an auto shove with 15/30 bbs ? Or is it a good idea to trap and check call one street how often should I play aggressive or passive in this situation ? Thanks you for your input and do we also have this same concept against an aggressive cash game stack doing the same tendencies? Do we ignore 1/2 paint cards and close bets or play em passive and release with certain board textures?

since i play more cash games than tournaments wondering what some tips for cash game situations would be that are diff from here. obviously the deeper it is, the more careful you must be and try to re-raise pre only in position. but when i 3bet in pos in cash game and the flop is K72 and guy checks to me, its prob a good cbet i would assume.

Daniel, I play cash games strictly and there's a point I think you missed. What happens when you raise your jacks and an overcard hits flop. You missed the most important stat (even though you didn't give any)... If you have JJ, 59 percent of the time an overcard will flop. Personally, I like to pot control with jacks when deep as you mentioned, and I have no problems folding flops with an ace or a king. First of all, you have to consider what hands will call your preflop raise.... most likely hands with either an ace or a king. Maybe you can call a flop bet with a queen and reevaluate turn. Maybe against certain looser fishy opponents you can call a flop bet with an A or K showing. But I think the proper move (especially multiway) against solid tight opponents is to fold A or K high flops. Anyways, love you as a player and I look forward to seeing your future content!

Can someone please answer this: Let's say you are 9 handed. And you have around an average stack size in the tournament, let's say like 30-40 big blinds. You get dealt jacks +2 under the gun (not sure if that's the correct term), under the gun folds, under the gun +1 raises 3x big (and he's been playing pretty loose). You aren't sure whether to call or re-raise him because there are still 6 people who have to act after you. You decide to re-raise to 6.5x big blind hoping it folds all around and you get into a heads up scenario. It folds all around and the initial raiser goes over top again to almost 33% of his stack. Do you shove in this situation, do you call, or is it safe to say he probably has AK at the worst?

So the best thing for me to do is not to overvalue JJ, especially in early position, and treat them as if they were a smaller pair like you said in the video. Okay makes sense to me, thanks for the answer. I'd really like to see more videos like this one that address specific hands and different scenarios with them. Big fan of yours, by the way. My uncle, Mike Avidan (bald Mike) and my father used to play cards with you - long before your success though

I had to exercise option 2 once. Had a raise, then folded to me. I called with Jacks. Next person 3 bet it. Folded back round to original raiser who 4 bets it. I look at my hand once more before slowly pushing it in the middle.Three better then shoves and gets called instantly. Obviously it was Aces against Kings. Original raiser had the Aces and holds.

7 players. Blinds 500/1000. Loose player raised to 2600 UTG. I call in the hijack with JJ. New player on the button makes it 7600. UTG folds. I put him on AK and flat call. Flop is 862 rainbow. I bet 11,000. Guy min-raises to 22K. I only have 35K left. I go all-in. He turns over Aces and I miss on the turn and river :(

@moptim

Depends on. If the raiser and caller are bad and loose (as it often is in the micros), you need to consider how they react to a squeeze. If they are of the kind that will call with small pairs and suited connectors despite not even getting enough implied odds for it, then jacks should be a fine squeeze. If on the other hand they raise a lot of trash and fold most of it against a squeeze, it's better to squeeze drawing hands such as suited small aces, suited connectors and small pairs. It'll be a profitable bluff then, and when they call with a strong range in position, you'll be able to stack them if you hit your set or straight.

Squeezing with blockers (such as A5s) has its downside. Yes, it makes it LESS likely your opponent has an Ace, but not entirely impossible. So the times your opponent has an Ace (and you do too), hes going to call your squeeze with a better kicker than yours and so your equity decreases by a large percentage.

I don't know why people hate jacks so much. I love playing them. It is easy to tell when someone has higher pair or AK pre-flop and flop, if you get mildly aggressive with JJ and they come back at you. I play JJ to at least flop or turn unless the board is bad or they are trying to get me to go all in pre-flop. No A no K hits the board on the flop, put out a bait bet, draw out the bigger pocket pairs and hands get the flop chasers out. If someone who is normally aggressive with big pairs raises on the flop, then I'll likely drop it. But I don't scare easy with JJ, and sometimes you can bluff it as a bigger pair easier than straight junk. easier to keep a straight face saying you have a decent or big pocket pair when they actually are.
@guibox3
@guibox3 7 жыл бұрын
More often than naught, it is the rag hands that always kill pocket jacks and not over cards on the board.When I'm called by a few hands after I raise, and the board comes out with less than 10, that's when I know my JJ is going to get screwed.

It's amazing how much better QQ plays than JJ. I love to squeeze with QQ, for example, but not with JJ. A good rule of thumb I use in tournaments is to play JJ exactly like 99, unless you're short stacked or it's a short-handed table.

I really don't like the tranquilo aproach with JJ on BB. I mean what exactly your post flop plan going to be? check fold if overcards apear? check call all the way if they don't? I prefer to play agressive mostly for info.. if somebody 4bets you can evaluate the situation again based on image.. history.. stacks etc.. but if you just call there it will get horrible with a ton boards.. specially with more than 2 other players.. unless you are playing exclusively for set value which feels a little weak IMO

Aye, jj is considered as a somewhat so so hand for it is useless after flopping even a single ace , king or queen. So Daniel is right . Be calm, check the reactions around the table. If more bets or raises, don't be ashamed to fold for one may lose bigger unless he folds timely.

Even pockect aces won't be useful if one doesn't play smartly. And jacks aren't strong enough clearly. So why get hastey? Breathe in slowly and observe the table. Don't hesitate to fold if feels right. May be later..
