I'm so happy I ran across your page! Thank you so much for sharing, I'm very much so inspired! I am actually trying to start my own mobile bartending service! I am running into a bit of an issue when registering the LLC, since you are not purchasing the alcoholic beverages what would be the proper NAICS code and sub code? Scared to select the wrong thing if it even matters. I also made the mistake of going to bartending school, didn't need it because bars and restaurants do NOT care! lol

I’m so happy I found this. We are in South Carolina and it has been so so so confusing trying to figure out all the licenses we need or don’t need (liquor or liquor by the drink, etc etc) and so far it looks like we only need Safe Serve certifications if the clients provide the alcohol? I don’t know why they make it so complicated

For Alaska you need a TAP Cert. It's an alcohol server course. I get the whole private bartending thing.

Thank you for this, if folks want to go to bartending school that’s fine but there’s no license but you need the alcohol license to sell and serve

Hello great video! However, I'm curious. If the private event is not or does not want to provide the alcohol and ask you to do so, what type of licensing or permitting is required for that? Or is that not even something that a mobile bartender can do in Atlanta/Georgia?

have a question. do you need to use a outside kitchen to make your mixers for your drinks. i see you use dry fruit, is that due to not wanting to pay for a kitchen to prep for an event?

So what all I need to sell my alcoholic beverages out the bed of my truck. I’m basically using a generator with blenders powered from it to make my drinks for the summer. I only have TIPS certification and a LLC for food.

I am pretty sure there is a pouring permit required. I simply pour wine 'on occasion' for work in GA and had to get a Pouring Permit and renew every year. I was curious why you didn't touch on that at all.

I bartender once for a private party and ran across an issue. What do you do about rinsing your shaker tins and tool when doing a mobile service. I used a bucket of water but noticed it got dirty kinda quickly. Was wondering if you had any advice on this?

Hello, thank you for the video. My question would be. On the for profit sale's. Can I sale food at a existing restaurant, with no ticket sales, or alcohol sales, and serve free alcohol. Comedy show, live band, poetry

I'm honestly not sure. It could fall into the category of still needing a permit. I believe in any event were there are sales, you would need a permit.

That depends on what you’re offering. It can for the most part be home based.

So to be clear you only need a permit if you’re doing festivals or serving at a venue ? I had a client that wanted to book but she was told she couldn’t by the venue owner because I wasn’t “licensed”.

Permit requirements depend on a few things. Location mostly, and possibly the nature of the event. Also, venues will say that. Next time, get clear what they are asking for. Venues will ask for a "bartender's license" but there's no such thing. They're most likely asking for business licensing and mainly insurance.

Not true in Wisconsin counties. We have to have an actual license to bartend many places. In Milwaukee WI there is a Class D Bartenders license that is renewed every two years.

It’s true in Atlanta, Georgia and other cities/states I’ve lived and bartended. Anyone with the basic necessities to get a job, can walk into a bar and be a bartender. They will ask for SS number, address, ID, etc. Never have they ever asked for a or required a “bartenders license.” 🥂

What if venue asks ABC license is that the same thing as the certification for TIPS

No it's not the same. I've realized venues aren't aware of what they're asking when they request a "license." You don't need a "license" to serve alcohol. TIPS state you've taken a responsible serving course.

This is wrong, you need a certificate or license. It’s called seller server cert/license

It’s not wrong. Neither a license or certificate is required to be a bartender. A certificate is optional and typically received if one went to bartending school. To SELL alcohol yes, one will need a license. To SERVE, possibly a permit depending on location or situation. Perhaps you didn’t watch the whole video.

I’m gonna keep it 100.. (no flex) I bartend for celebrities and high end people and nooooone of them have ever asked me that. Just bonehead people who romanticized about being a bartender. I learned how to bartend off KZfaq. 🤫 As long as you have your alcohol certification or a safe serve certificate, you can bartend pretty much anywhere.. (in CA) Just did my first solo bartending private event last week and no one asked me there either…

Perhaps it’s your area and people there are aware. We’ve provided service for celebrities and “high end” clients, not “bonehead people who romanticized about being a bartender”…just people who are trying to cover all the bases and essentially protect their own businesses in some cases. Event planners, venue owners. People genuinely just don’t know. Anyone can claim being a mobile bartender, and these days, it looks like everyone is! …People are just looking for a reliable dependable service, so asking for a license (which makes sense when you consider what we serve, poison) is just a way to ensure the business/service is credible. The funny thing is, it’s BARTENDERS claiming to have a license that doesn’t exist. Finessing people in their effort to obtain business and build credibility but, it’s a no.

1. This video is at least a year old, so if it changed then whatever. 2. To SERVE and not SELL, no you do not 3. Read the title, “bartender’s license” not a “liquor license” you do not need a license to be a bartender. ✌🏼🥂
