My mother always used hot water & I am 75 yrs old! Also we have reverse osmosis & clean hot water tank annually-- cleanest water can ever use! Ice maker broken after warrant up(of course😩), so am resorting to ice cube trays. Thanks for all your tips, videos, etc So do miss my home states WI/MN👍

I've used hot water to fill my trays since I learned that hot water freezes faster in hs chemistry class. I didn't know about the tilt though and now we have an icemaker so I don't need to fill trays anymore. Oh well, I'll just pass this along. Tfs!

Hello dear.... Q: about how much faster does it freeze would you say in your experience with ice cube trays for example? 🤔😊

@@wiseforce7045 unfortunately, I've been out of school since 1995 & my memory isn't that good. LoL It's probably not much, but when you love to eat ice like I do, every second counts. 😂

Glad you shared that w/ everyone👌 My mother told me that in 1958. I no longer do that as I use filtered water w/ bohonkin container. Thanks, Andrea!

I used to fill my ice trays with hot tap water until I learned this fact. Hot water from the tap can contain many contaminants. Hot water systems like tanks and boilers contain metallic parts that corrode as time goes by, contaminating the water. Hot water also dissolves contaminants in pipes faster than cold water. So I now use bottled water, but if Im wanting ice faster, I'd boil it and let it cool slightly. When I used to use my tap water, my trays used to be covered in a white residue. I could literally scrape it off with my fingernails, but it did not wash off easily. 😵‍💫

My building was built 1976. Until 1986, however, lead-based solder was used widely to join copper pipes. Lead-free solder and lead-free materials are now required by federal law for use in new household plumbing and for plumbing repairs

Fill with hot water, but not from the hot water side of the faucet. Do you know what's in your hot water tank. Hot water tanks and boilers contain metallic parts that corrode as time goes by, contaminating the water. I never consume water from the hot water faucet. Warm up cold water in the microwave or stove then fill the tray.

Hot tap water, is not as clean as cold tap water. Take a minute to warm up cold tap water either on the stove or with an electric kettle. Freeze 2 trays overnight until you fill up a gallon size zip lock bag. Hope this helps.

Our water is very hard and has a bad taste. I use bottled water to fill ice trays. The ice cubes always break and some of the ice always sticks to the tray.

First off I don't use tap water... Our town uses too many chemicals and bleach and our water to use our tap water... That's pretty sad when it should be clean water...
