Resonance Of Fate, also called "Why you should never EVER release an RPG the same week as Final Fantasy ."

News flash for anyone who doesn't have a PS3 or 360 but still wants to play this: it was actually released on Steam and PS4 about a month ago, so more options are now available.

Played through it 3 times since it was released. Deserves a sequel in my opinion.

The gun crafting was also pretty convoluted if I remember. I had like 6 scopes with mutiple barrels and stocks and 3 magazines sticking out of the gun.

Resonance of Fate was my first -ever platinum trophy. I LOVED this game. The setting, the characters, the aesthetic, the combat... I never get enough chances to talk about it though. You weren't lying about no one remembering it. >.

All I remember is going to do a mission, knowing I needed machine piercing ammo for the trip, didn't buy enough before it was too late and then I was stuck at a save point with no piercing ammo and a bunch of machine encounters that I couldn't win because normal bullets don't do jack shet.

Tri-Ace... They made one of my favorite games of all time Radiata Stories! I wish they would make something similar to that again.

Oh gymnastic shooting, every time I remember this game I freak out about with a friend. It's probably my favorite combat system I never experienced (a.k.a never played the game)! Wished I played it but what I heard about the combat system made it unappealing but super fun to watch.

This game and The Last Remnant are the obscure RPGs I like to recommend to people. I may enjoy Last Remnant a little more but this game is still fantastic. I love finding those unique combat systems.

Does anyone remember (or even know about) Radiata Stories on PS2? Pretty sure that was another tri-Ace game with a RIDICULOUS amount of detail, love, and content built into it. A little odd, but I think it's really accessible... provided you have the strategy guide to help with recruiting allies. I doubt anyone could recruit some of the better people without it.

You didn't even record the weapon customisation menu. Why in the would would someone try to sell this without advertising the SEVEN BARRELED THRICE SCOPED HANDGUNS. Jokes aside RoF has the sharpest difficulty spikes I've ever seen, it has valleys of easy boring junk with an impossible sideboss here and there that you won't be able to tackle because the leveling system penalises specialisation and you have to pass the Good Handgun and the Fireworks Box around. Also can I just say how the machinegun hoodie hobos that populate the middle levels random encounters being inspired by Zephyr's massacre is fucking spectacular environmental storytelling?

Kinda hard to forget about a game when I've never heard of it from the get go.

I know I'm late to the party but I just want you to know that there is an HD/4k remaster for PC/PS4 for anyone interested with the game, definitely worth a try Sad that this game gets almost no traction from gaming channels that i know (and I know a lot of them) so I only know about the remaster months after release ;/

This game is just so great. Now would you rather have a sequel to this or Valkyrie Profile? The correct answer is Valkyrie Profile, but Resonance of Fate is a pretty close second (we probably won't ever be seeing either because Tri-Ace has a hard-on for Star Ocean and that's not exactly going well...but a man can hope).

Since this game is own by Sega, why don't they give it to Atlus to try and revitalize it. It gives them something different to work with.

This is one of my favorite Jrpg's of all time, despite its issues. So sad it got nowhere, because I'd KILL for a RoF 2, or at least a spiritual successor. *cries*

Sadly, the only Of Fate I remember playing is Threads of Fate. It was a fun, but short ride.

Thank you for bringing this game from the abyss! Gosh, it's been so long playing Resonance of Fate. I have put 145+ hours in that game and still haven't finished it because the difficulty and grinding.

I remember playing the demo for this game back in 2009. The battle system was certainly unique.

To be fair, you have to have a certain I.Q. to fully understand the mechanics of this game.

The mechanics is complicated a f, Imo harder than Dark souls. Haven't have the chance to complete it, still stuck at the first 8 hour everytime I tried to start a fresh new game

I actually have this game, and I HATED it. I really wanted to like it, too - it has a really strong opening, as you said, and the combat system is flashy and fun... at first. It has two huge problems that just keep me from sticking with it, though. 1. The combat is the sort of thing that's really fun the first time you do it, but that gets really obnoxious around the 100th go-round or so. Which, given that it's a JRPG, is really not a good thing. 2. This game has possibly the worst case of it-gets-better-10-hours-in-itis I've ever seen. The story just *stops* after the beginning, and the game doesn't let you get any freaking equipment upgrades for at least 4 chapters (out of 16!). I reached a point where I realized that I was a few hours in and I was *still* using all the default gear, and the battles were all running together because you do the same goddamn thing in every single one, and then I realized I needed to grind some items to unlock more of the world map (which is the *shittiest* idea, ever), and I just thought to myself... why the fuck am I still playing this?

I do. I remember the amount of frustration this game made me feel. It was the most frustrating game I had played at the time, but at the same time I did love it. The art style was pretty generic so it aged like milk too. The games biggest issue was shitty frame rates and awful anti aliasing. One of the last console games I played so it still holds a special place in my heart. Damn shame it looks like ass now so I can't be arsed to replay it. I can't handle them cinematic frame rates
