A lot of young people are being misled by the lies and deceptions of those who proclaim that "Love is Love" -- those who take all their desires as their Gods -- but we must remind ourselves that true love is truth. So we must ensure to show care, concern, and respect for those who struggle with the tests of this worldly life that manifest themselves in the form of lustful bodily passions, no matter the gender or orientation. We must show love with firmness and clarity.

He also accepted his past missteps. This is the first time I have heard a highly regarded scholar and a person piety and taqwa publicly acknowledged his own mistakes. Subhan Allah! This episode is extraordinary and highly enlightening. We need to listen and think. Overall, a message of love and respect for and submission to what Allah has ordained and the message of Prophet (sm) without compromise or contradiction.

After listening to this, it reminded me of the story you shared last Tuesday re: Huzaifah (RA) whose father Al-Yamani was martyred by mistake as a result of mistaken identity. I think a lot of times, we bring down our own brothers and sisters, based on our assumptions and misunderstandings instead of looking beyond our snap judgement. How anyone could ever think that brother Omar Suleiman have supported such a thing. I have always seen the brother as taking a soft approach by having fruitful dialogs and explaining things from our paradigm and what we believe and stand for. While at the end of the day everyone outside of Islam may disagree with our position thats fine. But too condemn or criticize someone because they are not using their platform too stand up with a Megaphone and condemn a group, individuals etc is not the only way to be! The Problem with modern social media is they show you the truth you want or you believe in. A person who thinks LGBT to be legal will never be shown this video and that is insane.

Well, I was heartbroken when I heard the rumors and some videos from other brothers speaking about Shaykh Omar since I had him in good light after watching some of his early videos. This was a much needed clarification.

I can't believe people thought that because Sheikh was at a protest (that had nothing to do with LGBTQ) where there were LGBTQ activists, that he was protesting for LGBTQ.

I don't like the fact that a lot of people were saying that Dr. Omar Suleiman supports the LGBT group. It's ridiculous and to think that of a scholar without asking to confirm it is not a smart thing to do.

I remember the love knows no boundaries post. And I remember the activism was about the people of Mexico. Then I saw the spin that was put on it. It was from that day that I realized that all the rumors were false and people simply slandered or took information without verifying. I lost a year worth of dawah and encouragement which affected my ibadah and mental state. But alhamdulillah things got better and I’m grateful for this work of Yaqeen Institute and I always make dua for them all
