I have been a detox nurse in the US for almost 20 years and I can certify that the only medically recommended OTC (over the counter) 'home remedy' (as opposed to inpatient, doctor prescribed) is vitamin B1 100mg, *lots* of fluids (to counteract the dehydration), folic acid and magnesium sulfate. If you go to the ER for extreme hangover (extreme symptoms such as continual vomiting, tremors, and the inability to hold down fluids not relieved after 24 hours) is what's known as a "banana bag," which has all of the above ingredients, except it is given IV.

I find a /tiny/ bit of booze the morning after can help get rid of the immediate badness. But literally, I mean a mouthful or two of lager. Other than that, water, ibu, paracetamol, carbs, four pints of water and a twix will sort you in 30 minutes. Existential dread is still incurable, though, which is why I stopped being excessive.

@@DrKaran there's a ton of B12 in these. That's what you find in eggs which is why a lot go for a fry up the morning after. I'm fairly sure both these things are leading to any sort of healthy lifestyle though
@koriw17012 жыл бұрын
@@YaMoBeThereAbout B12 is not the medically approved vitamin associated with excessive alcohol consumption. The only medically prescribed "cocktail" (if you will) is vitamin B1 (Thiamin) and fluids. The more severe the toxicity, the more fluids given, e.g. IV fluids. If a patient presents in the ER with true alcohol toxicity, they will be given what's known in the US as a "banana bag," which is an IV that contains the following: thiamine (aka vitamin B1), folic acid, and magnesium sulfate, and are usually used to correct nutritional deficiencies or chemical imbalances in the human body. The solution has a yellow color, hence the term "banana bag."

I made a discovery myself a while ago and long after I changed my drinking habits and I can tell you that if I had known about it then it probably wouldn't have been good. I not only works great for a hangover and I haven't used it for one but I remember how they feel I have been sick but not from drinking mild virus. Coconut water does the job i wouldn't recommend drinking anymore than a shot or less at the first time you try it, i recommend caution using it because more isn't better you can become over hydrated and that's dangerous so go easy never give it to children. I had a virus did a shot and I had muscle aches and I ate a tablespoon of mustard about 5minutes later felt better.
