For temper tantrums: ignore it. Giving him attention for it will basically make him learn that “if I whine, mommy will give me attention”. When he stops getting that positive reward for the tantrum he will learn to find it another way which is where you can start rewarding him for desirable behavior. Reward is a much stronger motivator than punishment which is why it’s easier to teach a new behavior than extinguish an old one. Operant conditioning is a great tool!

Also Jenny Le, we learned in my pediatrics class that you can give them a toy to bang on (like a drum set) to let out their anger.

I have three children who are school age now. I preferred acknowledgement of feelings. Like "oh no you fell down, what should we do?" Oh no mommy had to get you down. Lets go play" I feel like kids need to learn coping skills too and he is so young. I tried being mostly postive about things and saved the assertiveness for safety. When you are postive they evenutally learn that no means no and things happen but it will be okay. Good luck. He is too cute girl! ❤

Tight hugs for temper tantrums are the best! I always explained to my son "why not" so we would not feel frustrated and not understood. I really thought he was too little to understand, however, surprisingly he understood most of the times.

I teach my daughter (10mo) sign language so that she can communicate what she needs to us. She have just taught her a few words (eat, drink, all done, more, milk). It helps to minimize the outbursts.

I love your vlogs...this is just me on tantrums....it's baby's way of telling you he's either tired, hungry, sick or just wants your company, and cuddles. Baby can't speak or enunciate for himself how to communicate and I don't believe a baby can be manipulative. He just wants you there for him no matter what. I learn so much from you! Thank you so much for sharing your life!! Love from a wanna be but never will be a doctor. Jeanie

Jenny Le My mom's one friend started doing 1 minute time outs when her baby was about 1. Then she stopped for a while and started it again when he was about 2 to 3 ( toddler) , and it really helps so the older he gets the longer the time outs gets.

One way I deal with my daughter tantrums when she was passed the age of 1 where she doesn’t know much but still knows a lot was to let her have her tantrum and explain to her that it was okay to feel angry and upset, however when she did something wrong I started the time outs with me in the room at first and then by herself. She is now 2 1/2 and she understand very well when she is doing thing she is not supposed to and I rarely have any tantrums although they are still present. If we go to a kids fun place and she doesn’t want to leave one thing I do it’s before getting to the place (although I feel kind of silly) I let her know we will stay there for certain amount of time and then we are going to leave, I will repeat this many time until we get to the place the. When we are leaving and she is having her moment I let her have it and then ask her to remember when mommy said it was time to leave and then we’ll come back another day, so there is a lot of negotiations with the tantrums age. Good luck to you. Love your videos, I am a pre nursing student with goal of becoming a doctor one day, you videos help a lot. Also you have a beautiful baby and a beautiful family. Thank you for the time and effort in KZfaq.

This is honestly my second time watching you and I really feel like i can trust the information that you convey to your subscribers which now I’m one of 😍 Right now I’m 15 and a half and I’ve been thinkig and LOVING radiology and thinking of being a radiologist in the future hopefully. I really want your opinion on radiology and whether it could be good for me or not and just give me some pros and cons of being part of it ❤️ Edit: i know you’re not a radiologist but probably you see some radiologist around ?!

Don't use the word "no" at this age. He is too young. Say uh-uh. He wants to be a helper. Make it fun! Let's close the cabinet Wyatt. Can you help me? Give him directions. He is smarter than you realize. Treat him as such and you will see his temperament change.

The thing about tantrums is they serve a purpose..not sure what lol..and just let it happen and ignore that behavior. He will come to understand throwing tantrums won't get him anywhere. He's too young to reason with and too young to understand time out concept just yet. He is really about wanting to be with you. So just let it happen and do your best to ignore it. Hes so cute!

I have found the best way to stop tantrums is do not give them the attention in a tantrum, and never give them what they are screaming for. Example: In the grocery store and you see a toddler on the floor screaming for something. The parents are embarrassed and want to quiet the child, so they get the child what they are screaming for. This will teach them to scream for what they want. Sometimes they throw tantrums due to being tired, but the name, " temper tantrum ", they are angry they didn't get their way. Just don't give in to rhe tantrums and he won't be doing it at 4 or 5.

Whatever you decide to do- time out when acting out, gold coins when good, etc., be consistent. I know consistency is hard, but Wyatt will act out more if he knows sometimes his temper tantrums get him what he wants. He'll start thinking that he has to be louder to get your attention and for you to give in.

I understand that. In those cases, I take the kids I babysit into another venue. Like if you're at the grocery store, take them to another part of the store or take them out of the store and then try to calm him down and just smile politely at anyone watching. With one year olds it's hard to control temper tantrums- at least until they are around 18 mo. because they usually get frustrated that they can't verbalize their feelings and sometimes can't understand you completely yet too. Once he reaches the 18 mo., he'll be easier to handle if he knows that you are consistent in how you deal with everything since you can actually talk to him- in my experience anyways. I'm not sure why it's such a magically age though.

Is family med outpatient clinic usually that diverse in terms of procedures? I sometimes hear people talk about how it’s almost all diabetes/obesity management.
@drjennale
@drjennale 6 жыл бұрын
I think that is dependent on the provider. I know many family practice physicians who are procedure heavy just because that’s what they like to do. So they schedule more of them.
