Mrs Flood (RTDs Greek chorus) told us "Well we'd all like a lot of things...that aren't going to happen." That's RTD talking to us the audience about all our theories and expectations, and the Doctor did the explanation near the end of this episode on the same subject. the fact ruby's mother was ordinary made this episode work for me, I do not see this episode as a doctor who finale, i kinda thought of it as a Ruby Sunday finale with b plot from the doctor's past... and i kinda like it as a one season thing.

Great reaction and 100% agree with your passionate take on Ruby's mum being a normal person. Basically, you don’t need to be someone huge like a god or so to matter. Being ordinary is just as powerful, so powerful, it beat a god! Which I loved. Loved the episode - not quite as good as last week, but it was still a very good & satisfying finale. 8.5/10 my rating. I loved that Ruby's birth mother was ordinary. It made me cry.

As much as I loved the idea of the story arc of Ruby Sunday so far (there is more to come), I do believe RTD dropped the ball on the season finale. It suffered from too many glossed over details, plot holes and poor writing. HOWEVER... People are still missing some very subtle clues throughout the series which sets up for Series 2. This doesn't involve Susan Triad directly, but does have some correlation to the theme. Let me explain the background before my theory here: Throughout the series, we have been presented with Mysticism, Gods, The Rule Of Three (A Triad.. Also Witchcraft), The Universe, Family & humanity, Creation (Death, then Life). If we go back to Space Babies, we have had the miracle of "creation" and "birth" as in life, In Boom we have had the threat of "annihilation" and also the "resurrection" of Ruby after being shot. In The Devils Chord, we had Mysticism & Portent on an oncoming storm and trouble ahead.. including a god with a fear of what Ruby is (or is to become). In 73 Yards we had an alternative future where there was a threat to "humanity" from an antagonist and in Dot n Bubble, it was all consuming dread & death from being shut off from the "universe" in a bubble, but with someone watching over them. The Legend Of Ruby Sunday pulled the majority of these themes together at a head. The Doctor's Pseudo Family in the form of UNIT, Ruby partially discovering her origins, mother and yet-to-be seen father. The existential threat of death, and resurrection & the mysticism of the Gods & Mrs Flood (yet to be fully disclosed). My Theory: Kate mentioned that Ruby's step-father was a wrong-un, NOT her yet-to-be-onscreen biological father, "William Benjamin Garnett". A Garnett is a semi-precious stone which is a deep red colour, and was originally classed as a type of Ruby in ancient times (not now however). Throughout the series there have been a subtle theme of shades of red - "Ruby" & "Cherry" Sunday, Mrs Floods "Pink" Jumpers, "Gau-de-te" from the Heckler, "Gaudete Sunday" ("Third" Sunday in Advent which is marked with "Pink/Rose" Candles marking the rejoicing of a saviour), Mel dressed all in Red & with Red Hair, "Rose" Noble and of course "Ruby" Road. In terms of Gemstones there are only "Three" that possess a very special quality, a Ruby, a Garnett & a Sapphire. These possess a feature called an *ASTERISM*, which is a bright star-like occlusion of the same name, when held up to the light with a brilliance like the stars in the night sky. An ASTERISM is not only confined to Gemstones, but also the Cosmos and Gods of Mysticism (also in reference to ASTERIA the daughter of the God of Witchcraft, HECATE which also means Star in Greek Mythology). In cosmology an Asterism is an observed pattern of stars in the night sky as perceived from the ground and is represented by Three Asterisks "*" in a Triangle (Triad) in written form. In 73 Yards, Roger apGwilliam (Son Of William) for a moment when he first met Ruby, looked at her strangely as if he recognised her, but not from where/when, also the realisation when he ran off. There is a possibility that (as ApGwilliam is still a fixed point in time and will occur in the 2040s), he is her Brother (Son Of William). He could have been looking for Ruby, hence the DNA Database at the time of his reign as PM to track down the Mother, potentially being guided by someone in the future to do so through manipulation. The circumstances of why wont be yet apparent, however if we look at Mrs Flood, she appeared Ethereal & Slightly Malevolant like a God at the end of the episode, standing on the roof against the backdrop of the night sky and heavens. If we go back to the ASTERISM and HECATE, she is a God of the Night Sky and the Heavens and is also a Three Fold Diety, having Three distinct personalities (*As seen with Mrs Flood throughout the series), she is also the guardian of Doors/Portals,Crossroads of time and is said to possess the keys to creation but not able to enter heaven (So would need to tear down the gates of Heaven to get in). Mrs Flood stands guard over the goings on in Minto Road and her front door, watching and waiting... She also mentioned to Cherry if she was religious and would tear down the gates of Heaven as she had such plans. When it comes back to the ASTERISM, I think Mrs Flood is the Three Fold Diety, and works in Three's as she needs to bring Ruby, her father & brother together for something much bigger and potentially malevolent, so is guiding and manipulating them until she gets what she want's and the Doctor is a hinderance of sorts. Even more interestingly though the term ASTERISM is also an anagram for "IS MASTER". The Master has summoned Daemons/Evil Gods before namely "Azal", so it wouldnt be past him to try this again, hiding away.

I noticed at the end of it is snowing around Mrs flood. Maybe she was the one making snow around Ruby's memories to make them bigger than they were for reasons we don't know yet.... It's possible that some of the reasons this episode was lame is because they're not the real explanations for what actually happened that night.

The reveal of her mum and dad was underwhelming, I felt they rushed the ending of sutekh. The tardis was split in half meaning sutekh could still be alive and still hiding. Mrs Flood might be a the master before he lost to the toymaker who knows, she could be anyone at this point, probably someone from the doctors future she made it seem like she knew how this version of the doctor dies.

While there were problems I found with the reveal of ruby’s mom, I still enjoyed both this and the season. Some hiccups sure, but a very fun and unique season. Of course some things we know for later: moffat is writing the Christmas special and Ruby will have an appearance throughout the next season

love your reactions, i'm new to watching these things and yours are funny and intelligent, and one of my favourites. I've been a fan for 52 years and there have always been those who seem to hate anything that differs from what they think is right ,usually what it was like when they started watching ,its a sad fact that some of us are just dicks resisant to something differant . personally I loved the episode ,saw it at the cinema ,it was fantastic felt like you were travelling through the vortex with them and while there were some thin spots in the narrative they don't bother me to much i will still give it a 9 because it was fun and it was beautiful. the Doctors crying doesn't bother me its understandable 14 did the therapy 15 gets the effects those tears are him experiencing grief and frustration and then letting go of the pain intead of bottling it up

You are so right in being mad. Yeah someone may not like the finale, but that doesn't mean they should flush the whole thing. I saw several reactions and people were absolutely engaged. There was a whole spectrum of emotions, yet they just hated it when it ended. That just feels like hopping on the hate bandwagon. Keep up the good work and insightful comments.

Someone should tell Sutekh to go and fetch a stick or something. That old doggo absolutely needs a hobby, By the way, bringing him back even after this end would not be hard at all. The Tardis was split a while ago. So, if they wanted to bring Sutekh back again once more they could just say he was split as well. Though if they do I hope for sure they give him a sense of humor...... or even better: turn him into a puppy and make him a quasi companion to the Doctor. Why? Because I would find it hilarious. Anyways, this was a great season. I had a lot of fun with the new Doctor, Ruby and everyone else. And now the wait for the next episode begins anew.

This season as sooooo meta! I feel that RTD was having a conversation with the fan’s and their expectations. The episode with the FineTime racists is a great example of this. So many people thought that it was an episode about social media, that they missed all the racist micro aggressions, even though they were pretty clear to see on the second viewing. And then the whole episode of 73 yards, there were a lot of fans, insisting that this episode meant nothing, and was a waste of their time, but it came back in a big way for the finale. I may be going against the grain, but I feel like this season has actually been kind of brilliant.

I do feel , there’s more stuff to come, including Ruby Sunday’s birth Mother. And herself ( Ruby Sunday ). Like what if Ruby’s birth Mother could sense Sutekh / monsters. That’s why she wore a black cloak ?🤔 , her birth Mother wasn’t fazed about seeing the Tardis and hearing stories about her daughter traveling around in space/ time with 15th Doctor Who. PS - oh what ever the vortex sent Sutekh to a different timeline?😮🤔. ( Still a great episode - finale )!!!!!!

Now we have two sutekh in Tardis 14 and Tardis 15.

8/10 love this episode…I wish I could explain why I love this episode. With that being said, I think there are a few flaws

I don't know who your favorite companions are, but I haven't seen that many of your DW videos. Martha is my favorite companion. I also love Victorian Clara and Sarah Jane. I like the others, I think. I think a lot of the incarnations of the Doctor have been emotional, but not that many have cried a lot. He has cried (in the eyes leaking way, not in the sobbing way) in most of the episodes, although he's had some reasons also. Not saying this is good or bad.

I didn't mind the mother stuff that much, the pointing was kinda stupid but I'll let it go. However the snow and song nonsense with ruby herself kinda like the heck was all that about? Over all I did have fun!

The pointing thing was nonsensical. Didn't like Ruby calling her biological mum her "real mum." It was mostly good, though. We better get Susan back at some point. And Jenny!

Very disappointed with the finale because of how it was way to fast and easy and anti climatic to beat him, however I loved the character work and I was having a blast watching the episode

Standing O for the rant, but I add respect the fans. We don't want to lose Dr. Who because of the haters. I loved this episode --and I agree that some are gonna need a minute to realize they are mad because the build up wasn't resolved as they expected/hoped. I cried when the mom did not remember she lost her child. I cried when Ruby found her Mom. That scene was exactly what I wanted to see.

I felt this was a big let down. And what the hell was that spoon scene about? I have loved this series mostly, but this finale actually made me angry a bit andd made me lose my mojo for the show...I;m sure I will get it back but yeah like I said, I am pretty annoyed with it. I feel sure he wrote himself into a corner and had no idea what to do.

Worst episode since the series 9 finale "Hell Bent" the ending was a real cop-out and boring.
