I never realized how 10 said "spoilers" at the beginning of the episode before river showed up and now it really hits different. that was like the perfect precursor to the episode when river is introduced

When Miss Evangelist's communicator is saying "Ice Cream" on a loop, I always understood it to be a deliberate homophone wherein it also sounds like she's saying "I scream" over and over, hence the ominous tone whilst it is happening. It's the juxtaposition between the light-hearted vibe of the phrase "ice cream" and the haunting vibe of the phrase "I scream".

If you think River Song is confusing NOW....

When they mentioned the "I'm a time-traveller, I point & laugh at archaeologists" line... I love having foreknowledge. I hope they remember that line when they're watching the 11th Doctor's run. The parallels are hilarious!

I love the Miss Evangalise scene, it's one of the least mentioned tearjerkers of Doctor Who, but for some reason her death and the stuff she talks to Donna about always gets to me.

Eric is so smart. I really enjoy how fast he catches on to things.

Oh man, I wanted to see them react to the Doctor and Donna just nodding to each other and simultaneously ripping the Non Disclosure Agreements. It's one of my favorite Donna moments just because of how much she and the Doctor are on the same wavelength.

River's and the Doctor's timelines occur in opposite orders. Every time he meets her, she knows him less and vice versa, with very few exceptions.

Aaron's constant cringe watching this is gold. Not able to say anything.

This two parter is still one of my all-time favorites. It so jam-packed full of cool concepts and it unfolds as a mystery really nicely. And of course the more you come back to re-watch it, the more powerful it gets. :)

I really like how doctor who thumbnails are changed based on the episode.

This is another Stephen Moffet story, the guy who wrote the two-parter where we met Jack with the Gasmask kid; the Girl in the Fireplace, and Blink.

In addition to this episode having Walter from Arrow, the actress who plays River Song was Sara and Laurel's mom on Arrow.

This two-parter is a pretty "iconic" duo of episodes for River Song's story arc, infact you can say it lasts a very long period, how long? Spilers ofc but she has a few good episodes throughout, even past Tenant (won't say more then that). Get used to River Song, she's a keeper.

The intro to the River Song concept was soooo well done here. Top marks. Like these are the kind of things you want to do in a reboot/remake etc.

This is a great two-parter! The first part is a great build up to the mystery of the library and the introduction of River Song is great and will keep you asking so many questions! Highlights are: Donna kicking the door, mocking that the sonic doesn’t do wood; the interactions between River and The Doctor; Miss Evangelista’s sad demise; ripping out the contracts and that cliffhanger! Can’t wait for the Part 2 reaction! SPOILERS GALORE! :D

Man, I love this two parter. It scared the hell out of me when I first saw it, I literally couldn't sleep for hours after watching it

I wish they had a bit more to say about Donna. They say a lot less about her than they ever did about Rose or Martha, and she's by far my favourite of the 3. But I guess, each to their own.

When I started this video I went back to the last one because the intro there was pretty sick... TURNS OUT THIS WAS BETTER!!!😂😂😂❤❤❤

I always loved the River Song dynamic, and the character; I think Moffatt gets a bit full of himself in his writing, and he puts a bit too much on River Song and makes it far more convoluted. That said, she's a fascinating character, and the idea behind their relationship is super cool. Just not always executed perfectly. So seeing them discussing her excites me. HELLO SWEETY!

By the way; Blind Wave team: Strap in for the single greatest character arc from any piece of fiction ever made. The tale of River Song is one of the best parts of this entire 11 season show. Jesus, I remember watching this and the next episode and being so fucking terrified. They're my top fav Doctor Who episodes

Eric does seem to struggle with time-travelling causality quite a lot, doesn't he? Sometimes events can be causeless, like in stable time loops. Abandon the notion of the "first run" that was somehow different -- in many cases, there never was any first run. (Unless, of course, the universe runs on trousers of time, like e.g. Back to the Future -- choice 1 leads to future A, choice 2 to future B, &c., and any time travel just decides the leg of the trousers you'll be travelling down to, it doesn't change the trousers entirely... it... got away from me, yeah...) My recommendation -- treat the Universal and personal timelines separate. The timeline of the universe runs in a straight line from beginning to the end, while the personal timeline of a time traveller loops and weaves all over in all directions, but they're both still uninterrupted lines -- you can't live *your* tomorrow before your yesterday, but you can live *the universal* tomorrow before the universal yesterday. Time travelling causality becomes far more sensible -- after all, it's *your* causality that's doing the things that seem to make no sense externally.

The best way to think of it is River and Doctor are travelling in different directions through time.

In few years when you finish the Christmas episode with Singing Towers - you have to watch some videos done by fans that basically include all River Song's moments - that show how her timeline went.

These two episodes and Midnight are the ones that I most regret watching right before bed.

As soon as I saw the library I remembered which episode this was. Ahhhhh! River Song!!!

I know this video is old so i dont think anyone will see this. But my late father actually worked in the building that part of this episode was filmed in (see 3:06). When I was somewhere between 8 and 10, I forget the exact age now, not too long after thid episode, my dad took me here for my birthday. Being there in real life made me very uneasy about all the shadows. Fun fact: The books that they decorated the shelves with were still there, and they are actually all just empty binders with labels on them!

Shane wants to burn a library, meanwhile I’m still salty about Alexandria. All that knowledge, gone forever.
