hints he still changes into gatwa - could well be in the future we do see a full change into gatwa say in gatwas last episode..... we will see....

There's also a possibility he becomes Jo Martin's Fugitive Doctor.

He doesn't, though. 15 literally states he's only "fine" because 14 stopped and worked on himself. Furthermore, of course he knows he won't be able to stay with Donna forever. But very much like what was shown in "The Husbands of River Song", happily ever after is just time. He finally has time to stop running and just breathe and enjoy life while his best friend is still around.

@@juliag6126 you just proved my point. The river song arc is the perfect example of what I’m talking about, he knew he could never stay with her forever. He knew when his time would be up, he’s always known that when he settles down for a while. This last episode he says everything he’s been through has been for this (to be with Donna and her family). Did you even watch this video? He explains his feelings about staying and watching everyone you love die, he gets tired of it, that’s why he travels and never stays. Have you even watched doctor who?

@@themetagames5993 Yes i have, but River is canonically one of the few times (if not the only time) he was able to catch his breath since the beginning of New Who, and even that only lasted 24 years, compared to suffering for billions. And even amidst stopping, that time was all about saying goodbye to her, not self- reflection. Yes, The Doctor believes immortality is a curse and he's destined to be alone. But even then, he doesn't turn away from human connection to "protect" himself. he simply cannot not care. So if he can't have his loved ones by his side forever, the very least he can hope for as a reward, as a way to keep moving, is live by their side whilst they're alive and well, not having to be plagued by the knowledge he was the cause of their demise or misfortune. Yes, Donna will inevitably die, as will his next companions and the ones before her. But now he knows the fighting isn't all his existence must be. Some rare times, he can simple be, simple rest before going through trials AGAIN and that's okay too. It's a lot like real life: it doesn't stop being hard because you decided to work on yourself or undergo therapy. You just learn how to face it all, until living with your history becomes a lot more bearable.
