They need to bring back the Doctor and Donna for just random, recurring gags. Like there’s an alien spaceship over London, 15 is running around having a terrible time, and it cuts to the Doctor and Donna sitting there, having a coffee, talking about something mundane whilst watching this giant spaceship. Then it cuts back to 15 having a terrible time.

As a wheelchair user myself, two other things stood out to me and one of them meant the world to me.. That part where Kate says to Shirley words to the effect of "and you! As an old-school Whovian (my first Doctor was Pertwee on PBS in the States) I was split (no pun intended) about the "bi-generation," but then I watched it again and realized it really *was* the best outcome. 14 gets to be with his best friend and family while 15 gets to fly around and be a madman with a box. The scene were the 14th Doctor thought about the lives which were lost and the 15th Doctor hugging him really brought me to tears because he exactly knows how it must feel and how much he needed someone to hold him in this moment. My theory is that when the 14th Doctor was regenerating a deep wish and the influence of the Toymaker made the Bi-Generation possible so that The Doctor can have a life instead of always running but still be out there to explore the world and help people in need.
@intergalactic92

It took me a moment to really get it, until I realised that David Tennant is now the first Curator. Wider media has established that the Curators are past versions of the Doctor whom have all retired, thus bi-generations could happen again to give each Doctor an opportunity to retire like 14 did.

Yeah but it was too fast. You can't insert massive character changes in a story without showing them take place. If you have a character who's been traumatised and then just shoot to "six months of therapy later..." then you've just skipped a major part of the story. Sure, they can that the Doctor has stopped and rested and let go of some of the baggage he was carrying, but if they don't devote a season or so of the show to that then it's meaningless to me as a viewer. I recognise it would be a bold and risky move for them to change the pace and themes of the show for a while, but if they really wanted to address this issue then that's what they should have done. We need to see the Doctor taking five; to have this time out with the Doctor, and then when he's ready to resume his adventure, we come with him. I'm still open to the prospect that the next season of Doctor Who will be a good one, but if the character's just going to go forward without having addressed the things he's seen (and which we've seen with him) and the people who have died, then it's a real disservice to the franchise so far.

Be like Dick Van Dyke, who tap danced on TV at age 75 without a care in the world. He'll be the most annoying and spritely geriatric you've ever seen, making the young people jealous whilst simultaneously freaking out that he's about to break something. The Giggle was perfect. This was truly the first of these specials that felt like a celebration of 60 years of Doctor Who. It had all these great callbacks and mentions to so many character, most if not all of whom are no longer accessible to the Doctor like Amy and Rose Tyler. Is it wishful thinking to hope that no mention of Martha means Freema Agyeman will pop up again soon? Neil Patrick Harris was fantastic! I loved the switching of accents. Evil camp is always fun, especially when it’s as sinister as this was. And the “Spice Up Your Life” dance sequence. I still have no idea what the hell bi-generation means. I mean we heard from all the Doctors previously in the reboot that regeneration was super dodgy but making a whole new one is not a twist I was expecting! But this establishes that in a one-on-one-hundred-million-billion-billion chance, Time Lords can reproduce asexually. The end fight with the Toymaker had the frenetic pace of Ten's fight with the Sycorax way back in 2006. I loved Ncuti’s energy. He really felt like a showman, much more than the other Doctors previously. And because they said he processed his trauma, Fifteen seems like he’s going to be a Doctor who is having fun and not haunted by his dark deeds or running from something. Which is a Doctor RTD never gave himself the chance to write. And it looks like we have another RTD mystery box on our hand with the Meep’s Boss still left unanswered and I now the Toymaker mentioning a threat or a cosmic imbalance (I don’t remember the wording exactly). love that Fourteen’s costume got split between the two so Fifteen spends the entire episode in underwear! But because he got the shows, not only does Fourteen speed the entire 3rd act barefoot, which is hilarious and of itself, Fifteen feels even more naked. I love that they let Ncuti keep his true accent. I love that we didn’t have to say goodbye to Tennant again. Not really. That scene of him having lunch with Donna's family, really his family, was just perfect and I'm happy that his last words are technically "This is the happiest I've ever been in my life." You can really hear Tennant’s Scottish accent on “wheelchair accessible.” It really feels like they are setting up a UNIT spin-off. And I am here for it! I need it to be Kate, Shirley, Mel, and the Vlinx, whatever the hell that is and maybe Osgood (fingers crossed).

it crammed too much for me to process in 1 hour, should've been longer, like why was there a "biregeneration" or who is "the one who waits", why was mel glossed over so quickly, surely we should've spent more time with her, why was it so important for the humans to be fighting each other if they didn't matter at all in the story?
@joeparker3815
@joeparker3815 5 ай бұрын
poor take imo. The giggle was disappointing. The toymaker was the best part of the episode, yet they minimised his danger. He makes the world go mad at the start and then it just isnt mentioned again. There was no connection to the threat he was imposing on humanity. Not enough of the toymaker, it needed more of him. Maybe having it be a 2 parter would've been better. The explanation as to why Tennants face returned wasn't explained. I would've liked the idea of the toymaker being the one bringing his face back and maybe linking it to a game the 10th doctor played, but instead the toymaker only appears because of the salt in episode 2? Making the toymaker be the reason why 10's face came back would also explain the clothes regeneration too. But nahh its just once again lazy writing, especially considering such a satisfying explanation being such a low hanging fruit. The Bi-regeneration is just timelord metacrisis 2.0, and surprise surprise its with tennant. Russel T Davies is just re-hashing the same old gimmicks as he did in the original series. You have to ask WHY are we keeping tennant around? Is it to maybe continue having adventures with tennant in doctor who spins offs? Well why not do adventures with the metacrisis doctor? Why are we duplicating him again?! Speaking of Russell re-hashing the same old gimmicks - the master and the gold tooth is just a copy of his last explanation as to how the master returns. Its nothing new, its nothing fresh, its just trying to catch lightning in a bottle for a second time, but accidentally setting the house on fire in the process. The whole 60th has ruined season 4s ending. The tragedy of donna's character is that she had to return back to her old life. It was tragic and sad, but poetic at the same time. Now, rewatching Journey's end, it has ruined the emotion and the tragedy of the character and that moment. The whole point of doctor who is making new stories and new adventures, not ruining old stories.

This sincerely might just be one of my favourite episodes of the show, period. I’ll have to give it some time before entirely committing to that, but I can at least say that Neil Patrick Harris’s Celestial Toymaker most certainly is a new favourite. He captures everything you want in a Who villain; campy, menacing and ultimately just an absolute riot to watch! That dance sequence was just magnificently silly! And as for the story itself, I gotta say that twist at the end (I’ll try and stay spoiler-light, but maybe wait to read this next bit if you haven’t seen it), is actually something that really worked for me; despite the controversy in the fandom it’ll no doubt cause. It’s an anniversary, after all, so wrapping everything up in a nice little bow is honestly just a perfect send-off to me; I mean, as the characters literally pointed out, David Tennant’s Doctor has earned his swan-song! And Ncuti Gatwa… I already know I’m going to love his Doctor. We’ve never really had a Doctor (minus Christopher Eccleston’s 9 I suppose, due to his off-screen regeneration) introduced with such a definitive sense of who they are. And man do I like it. Comforting, vibrant and ultimately radiating fun: yeah, this guy’s gonna be good! So yeah, safe to say I loved it. As a whole, the 60th anniversary itself was not what I expected but, despite going into this episode with uncertainty on whether it could stick the landing, it gives me an innumerable amount of joy when I say that this gave me everything I wanted and more. Doctor Who is never going to be objectively perfect, but this is pretty damn perfect to me. Now, let’s bring on Christmas!!!!

It’s actually beautiful what Russel has done bringing different people together making people apart of it. Wheelchair accessible etc you don’t take these things for granted but yeah it’s great that other people can be apart of that.
