The Master's title was an in-joke when the character was first created way back for the 3rd Doctor. Because he was a villainous reflection of the Doctor, and a Doctorate is an academic qualification, the villain was named The Master after a Masters degree. For the character's reintroduction to nuWho, his alias in disguise was a Professor, another academic title. So it's an in-joke within an in-joke.

The first series did a great job of introducing the Daleks to complete newbies. The Master, though, is a little more tricky. Bafflement is a normal reaction to that cliffhanger.

The actor who played Jojen Reed in Game of Thrones really just said "he's like fire and ice". So close to A Song of Ice and Fire.

_Blink_ is of course a great episode. However, the more you watch it the more you can't help noticing the angels are not really very "fast" except at dramatically important points.

They are dramatically slowed down by our viewing of them, interrupting every attack attempt they make.

That's because, usually, they don't *need* to be. No-one's ever looking behind them often enough - so the angels don't need to be fast.

The master (or john saxon) has been seeded since david tennants 1st christmas invasion story in season 2 (his name was in the newspaper being read) and there have been little hints throughout season 3.. the character is an old school villan, first appearing in an early 70s 3rd doctor story called terror of the autons and created as an intellectual equal to the doctor but bad, his Moriarty so to speak...

Remember the speech that Bill gave at the end of "Kill Bill 2" about Superman vs all other superheroes? Human Nature/Family of Blood embodies that speech.

To this day blink still terrifies me especially if I watch it at night even though I know it’s a show it still holds an effect on me like the episode Bloody Mary in supernatural

TBH, the family of blood 2 parter is my least favorite. I've never liked it. I don't like the fact the Doctor was human, and I don't like the fact he was in love with someone. In my opinion, they need to keep It more like it was in classic who. In classic who, the Doctor never wants was in love with his companions. That is, however, just my opinion.

What!!! Its one of the greatest stories of new who!!! TV is done differently today, I think if it was made more like the classic series it would die a death.. people connect better with emotion... also, each incarnation of the dr was supposed to be a different facet of the same personality, the tenth is obviously a more emotional part I think, john Smith more so...

That's not a valid reason to dislike that story. The Doctor is not in love with Joan, John Smith is. The whole point is that the Doctor can't have that life, isn't capable of it. It's supposed to be a tragedy, and an exploration of the dark side of the Doctor.

I don't be sure if you really should show Family of Blood 2 parter to people who never watched it before. I just say, Scarecrow's who are running around. Some people could get the wrong message here !! There are other much better episodes to present the show to people who never watched it at all !!
