Tom bakers delivery of Rivers iconic line “hello sweetie” was so sweet and beautiful. These two are surprisingly good together. You wouldn’t think it would work but it does. I may have to start listening to Big finish. Mostly the time war stuff as I’ve enjoyed the ones I’ve listened to about that. Also ones pre time war about Davros etc. xx

This brings me so many questions that probably will never be answered

It is always so cool to watch (or in this case listen to) characters from every era of Doctor Who interacting with each other.

Maybe this Doctor is the Curator.

The doc has a grandchild or daughter only means he was married many times before River Song. And him mentioning knowing River Song is his wife means something must have gone wrong with time. Each time River Song met a doctor 11 anime she erased their memories.

Usually during odd cross overs (like the 50th anniversary special) when they leave their separate ways time fixes itself and erases the memories of the non fixed points. This happened with the 5 doctors, I believe also with the 6th and 2nd doctor and of course the minisode with 5 and 10.

Really love this piece and I really do..

This is the first audio drama that I actually wanna get! Nothing against the others at all, it's just not a medium I'm used to. But THIS, my all time favorite Doctor with dialogue that's at once classic in tone and modernly written with great wit. And the details, classically the Doctor and River being again out of synch time wise...or are they? That's the question this teaser leaves me. Is it the Doctor in his 4th life? Classic Tom Baker? I think theres a good chance this audio drama is playing off the posed Custodian bit from Tom's guest appearance in the 50th anniversary special where he plays an unknown future self that chose to be That version again. Started off young again just as he appeared in Robot. Only now he's got the accumulated knowledge of the more than dozen other Doctors and an unknown number of lives past Jodie's Doctor. This could be the first of a series of those New Doctor stories! Thatd be AWESOME!!!! Even though I haven't listened to any of the others, once I get this one and if I enjoy it as much as this teaser then I'll definitely be more inclined to check out others, especially Tom's. And good on the producers for exploring this if it's what I think it is, because Tom will always be the Doctor to all fans and here are new stories with His version updated for the NuWho audience. A wonderful blending of the two eras of the show in a medium Tom at his age can still take part in fully and with the enthusiasm and abandon he's shown in the past for playing the character. So yes, use him while still happily willing and able to do so. For playing make believe in this universe, be it for the show or audio dramas or other media, should be a labor of Love for all involved. I know the work for the show can be quite daunting and taxing, especially in an online world where fan reaction, good or bad, can come Instantly and to quite the effect as well. But I dont hear Any of the stresses of that here. River sounds perfectly engaged and surprised to an extent where I can easily picture it from listening. And that lets my mind immerse into this drama. The others just didnt for me. Perhaps it's the perfect lure to get me in. Perhaps it's the fact that Tom's Doctor saved my life as a kid from severe depression where suicide in the 5th grade seemed like an option thanks to the abuse I was dealing with. It was always his Doctor that came to mind in my darkest moments, him and Pertwee as they both were my first Doctors. Finding the courage to do what needs to be done to survive even though I was scared helped to get me through. This show means more to me in a way than most will ever understand. This character, regardless of who plays the character IS that character for me. The continued seasons and new Doctor every few years, keeps Reminding me that the character is Out there STILL and hopefully bringing HOPE to whoever's needs it as they have for me. That's the intrinsic value of Doctor Who, giving fans HOPE via demonstration in Fictional stories. We get Relief from real world drama for the time we spend in that world. This is a point that the tv shows producers and BBC exec's need to be reminded of whenever taking the future of the show and these other productions into consideration. Their inherent Legacy is Outweighed by their Value to the Mental Health of the fans. This is why we cry when the change over from one Doctor to the next, because Every Doctor is a fans 1st Doctor. And that emotional attachment does come with future nostalgia, which should never be taken advantage of for profit, but Stewarded and drawn from to maintain the Core Consistencies and Values of the show that have kept the show going for so many decades. It's more than just a long running, longest running scifi show in television history, its evolved into more than that. It's a National Treasure for the UK. It took 20 some odd years give or take for the UK to return to a new and better normal after WW2 and just when things were getting groovy, that's when the Doctor arrived and has been there constantly in one form or another. The Doctor has remained in our collective imaginations that NuWho was essentially an inevitable return. An undeniable influence in the hearts and minds of not only the fans of the UK but the world over as well. And especially Now in the bleakness that is the virus, when ignominious reasoning threatens lives for the sake of the illusions of working economies darken hearts and spirits, depression and anxieties being triggered hourly and fears for many are terribly realized leaving everyone else fearful...this is one of those times where HOPE is so desperately Needed. And occasionally I find myself needing the Doctor like I do now. That dear exec's is why the Doctor is important to fans. That is why the Doctor will always be important to me. And all of that is why the future of the Doctor should be an absolute priority for them. It's a treasure, its Hope for the future and No one else anywhere on the planet has a franchise with That singular intrinsic value and built in renewable plot device amazingly Yet, barely tapped. There is no question to whether the future for the franchise is Finite. It's as Finite as the lifespan of modern society if handled consistently right. Because the stories are written by successive generations with successive Stacking understanding of science and theory and a gazillion other sources and other fandoms to seed ideas that have proven themselves to one extent or another to germinate and produce amazing stories for the show. The cross pollination of seeding imaginations today is IMMENSE compared to the early days of tv and film...there's just So Much More Everywhere. A fan made Doctor Who anime can be watched on KZfaq featuring the 3rd Doctor and it's fantastic and an excellent example of that very cross pollination of imaginations and influences from around the world. While Our world changes with every passing year and decade, the Doctor always remains the Doctor, always cheerleading us towards a better more advanced and inclusive future, and does so without making the show About That. The base irrlevancies and stupidities human can engage in to harm each other shown through the lens of a space and time hopping alien adventurer is where we get to examine those things without falling into either Misogyny or Misandry to do so. You've no idea how much I've missed Alex Kingston. Oh it soooooooo good to hear her again. And to be teamed up with Tom's Doctor...oh my!! I'm gonna get this one. Fuck me I ramble...lol
