I didn’t see someone in the comments mention it but there’s a thing of regeneration psychosis, essentially when the doctor regenerates there’s a cycle where the doctors a bit looney as he (or she) doesn’t know who he is yet, he slowly works it out and gets it together, this was a concept in the old series as well, in the old series one of the doctors strangled his companion before snapping out. It may or may not be different each time

1. As far as the Doctors and their personalities, they're sort of informed by the state of the regenerating Doctor. Likr with Nine, he had come following the Time War and carried a lot of that baggage. When he regenerated into Ten, after spending time with Rose he had become more cheerful and it showed. 2. Fun fact, 'Torchwood' was a code word for Doctor Who. It's also an anagram for it :D

think of it like this. Regeneration changes every cell in his body, including braincells. All he retains is his memories and skills. But the personality will change a lot everytime, and often based on how his last death was

The Doctor isn’t necessarily sick, he’s just taking time to completely finish the regeneration process, so his body is kinda messed up, hence him breathing out the weird yellow clouds, saying he’s having a ‘neurone implosion’. He’s just biologically getting used to his new form or appearance, that’s my interpretation anyway.

That's one of the most interesting things about Doctor Who; it's the only show where you can expect the main character to (effectively) die every now and then.

There’s a novelization of this episode and when everyone’s heading for the roof, I’m pretty sure it mentions that disabled people either walk or literally drag themselves along and babies start to crawl along as well. I’m not 100% sure I’m remembering that right but the novelization definitely makes mention of some of these things because there’s a disabled character in the book that I’m sure gets taken over by the blood control and manages to get up out of his wheelchair to walk to the roof with the other victims. Also on a completely unrelated note, in the wide shot of London when the ship appears you can see Big Ben has scaffolding and building works all around it because it’s still being fixed from when the Slitheen ship crashed into it in series 1

Best thing about Doctor Who doesn't matter what time of the year it is for you time travel you can watch it all the Christmas episodes of you want and no one can judge you if it's not Christmas because boom time travel

To answer your question, the Sycorax are not Classic Who villains. They're a completely new species to the show.

Every doctor has to relax after they regenerate you get used to it. It’s like them being reborn

The species Sycorax is named after a unseen character in ‘the Tempest’ who was a powerful witch, which is quite fitting to them controlling the blood. In the script, the Sycorax were written to be positioned like Queen in the Video to Bohemian Rhapsody. There is a funny outtake if this during a break the actors are singing the song. Remember the Doctor isn’t just sick with a flu or something, he has just literally replaced every cell in his body. That would take time to recover from.

About Santa Claus, I recommend watching a BBS mini-series called 'Hogfather'. It's about a different world Death finds out the Hogfather (their equivalent of Santa Claus) has been kidnapped so Death pretends to be Hogfather on Hogfather's Day.

Yes, there was a 4 series/season spin off called Torchwood. I only liked the first 3 series, a lot of people only like S3.
