I think it's the acting from the Gonds that let it down. If they were great actors it would be one of troughtons best in my opinion.

I think it's just his weakest story. It's fine but Troughton worst.

I remember seeing Episodes 1 and 2 of The Krotons back in October 1981, at a boarding school in England, and from what I could make of it, this DW serial from 1968--69 was a satire of what might happen if education became computerized, regimented, and taken over by an alien race of the distant future. And, it's a sharp comment on exams and testing. Must've been scary for younger children. I beg to differ on one point: there was a "twiddly--donk, twiddly--donk" background music, for those who remember seeing it. Holmes' stories were cautionary, and this, his first DW contribution, is no exception. The Krotons look like giant crystals with robotic bodies a la the Lost in Space robot. If it has been released on DVD, I shall definitely buy it! 😁😸🇬🇧🇬🇧

I wish the Second Doctor stories had more interesting titles rather than most of them being just 'The Something' or 'The Something Something'...I know there were some titles not like this but most of them were. To me a title is everything because it intrigues a viewer and makes them want to watch if that makes sense..anybody else feeling me?

My favourite title of a Troughton story was Fury from the Deep because of the fact that it breaks the 'the' rule

Get the UK DVDs. No huge OFLC ratings slapped on the covers, and the discs are R2+4 encoded :)

The Doctor destroyed them with acid. There was a lot of it about. It was the 60's.

I beg to differ, Robert Holmes may have gone on to write better stories, but this is still a fine example of his craftsmanship.
