The teleport was in the trailer WTTW showed prior to the airing and on first hearing the line I thought The Doctor said, "Sorry, mustache." which naturally made no sense.

IMHO Tom Baker is the best Dr Who.

This is the first moment when I started watching Doctor Who.

It's probably Colin Baker's best story(next to "Revelation of the Daleks"). The commentary on reality TV and also TV violence is even more relevant today. It got criticised, but I think very unfairly - and the critics were missing the point. It also introduced the character of Sil. Philip Martin did a great job - it's just a shame that he only got to write one more Dr. Who story.

Shame about the special effects being worse than Night of the Demon's from the 1950s, because this is a really good story.

Do people realise this was a childrens show cos i was a child watching this in 87 and I couldnt get emough of it so enough of the derision, it was a success with its target audience.

As a child of 1969 I got Pertwee and Baker; I'll always consider Baker MY doctor but I do have huge affection for Pertwee, especially as I loved Worzel Gummidge 😊

What happened to Rassilons voice in this clip? This isn't the original!

Rasalon the greatest, smartest most powerful time lord ever. He knows we about the dangers of nigh unlimited power. He is not some cacklling villain. I think it's safe to assume that he understood the dangers of the universe and the threat. The original idea of a tyrant was that of a protector. In times of crisis one man would be given unfettered power to make decisions. Once the crisis passed they would step down, be paid richly and retire to some far province. In desperation some of the High Council forget the lessons and turned back to the tyrant. Rasalon obviously shared the concern. He would let the universe burn so that the Time lords could live forever as energy. Now ol Barusa never stopped to ask where were the others that sought and found immortality? Don't see any around? Then again what do you think immortality means? Is it invulnerable, ageless? Eternal life. Well if our species declines in health at fifty years old what is life like at one thousand years old? No sickness, eternal youth, no natural death? Poison? Violent death?

Yes...imagine it being done today - by the current BBC!!! The storyline would perhaps be about climate change on some far flung planet (which looks identical to Earth), the people there bizarrely voted to leave the EU (Equinox Union), and we all know what the five doctors would be - female, trans, gay, black and confused. I remember hiding behind the sofa at Dr Who in the 1960s. I'm off to shout at clouds.

Ah yes, the old 4 doctors episode... Good stuff, but sadly missing the best one.
