Excellent analysis, I really appreciate seeing this take on Victoria! Now that I've seen all the 2nd Doctor stories, Victoria has become one of my favorite characters. I can relate to her a lot, and I've also noticed she is a good representation of anxiety. I think she's actually one of the bravest companions there is, as going about life when you're constantly afraid is _really difficult._ Also, ending a video about anxiety with a jumpscare 😂not sure if that's appropriate or ironic.

I’ve said it before and ill say it again, since before 2013 we basically only had Tomb of the Cybermen and The Ice Warriors we had the two stories where she was most out of character and damseled the most (in the case of the Ice Warriors)

I know this is an older video but I just had to comment! It's wild to hear that Victoria is a disliked companion-the second doctor niche of the tumblr / ao3 DW fandom (one that I'm a part of) seems to really adore her so much! I absolutely love Victoria and her father-daughter relationship with Two / her brother-sister relationship with Jamie! I know some people see her relationship with Jamie as a little romantic, but I just can't see it, her dynamic is so beautifully familial with the both of them-plus, there's the fact of her being, like, 15 when Jamie's in his early 20s!

I’ve always liked Victoria as a companion but never really loved her I never called her a Damsel in Distress and she was definitely better than Susan but she was always my least favourite of the Troughton companions This video has made me really appreciate her more. I’m actually working on a video all about Season 5 where I will talk about Victoria and I’m gonna need to rewrite some of it because opinions have now changed thanks to this analysis (also, I still need to update it to account for the Abominable Snowmen animation so I was gonna go back anyway)

TURLOUGH IS AWESOME DONT BE MEAN TO HIM. Turlough had a a super unique storyline and I liked his personality. He’s also super fun in big finish as well. A lot of people do like him, just not as many as the super popular ones.

See this is why I hate it when Victoria is called the worst companion. No! The issue is with the lost stories is that we have gaps. Thank God we have abominable snowmen, you binge watch a character who struggles from patriarchy Victorians to women holding guns and hostile monsters. The issue is that many other companions hold that trope. You see, there are no arcs in the classic series but when you binge watch an era or series there is a subtle arc, like Jo’s character development. But because there is no clear arc, like the new series, you end up cherry-picking stories as if they aren’t linked to other stories. Ever since I was 11, I loved her and still fucking do.
