Doctor Zhivago is a 1965 epic historical romance film directed by David Lean with a screenplay by Robert Bolt, based on the 1957 novel by Boris Pasternak. The story is set in Russia during World War I and the Russian Civil War. The film stars Omar Sharif in the title role as Yuri Zhivago, a married physician and poet whose life is altered by the Russian Revolution and subsequent civil war, and Julie Christie as his love interest Lara Antipova. Geraldine Chaplin, Tom Courtenay, Rod Steiger, Alec Guinness, Ralph Richardson, Siobhán McKenna, and Rita Tushingham play supporting roles.

Incredible how Hollywood transformed a swarty Egyptian Arab actor with close cropped curly hair into a Russian man. The movie made zhivago a more sympathetic character then in the book.

One of my husbands and my first dates. Seeing this movie... it was well done, emotional. I truly dusliked Julie Christies character......she was in the overthrow... he, Dr.Z was overtaken w.her. I thought poorly of him as well. Destroyed a marriage and children. So.. overall i didn't care for the movie.

what a load of crap. people who die in their 80's don't die "tragically" - and the title 'ALL CAST DIED TRAGICALLY when half of them are still alive is such an additional load of crap. To add insult to injury, your statements of elderly deaths "which left us deeply saddened" is the supreme load of crap. I say this to help you NOT waste you time watching this poorly produced. I'm just sure the Chinese person who narrated this is crazy and wild about the Russian revolution.
