Kickstarter, Indiegogo, GoFundMe, and so many other crowdfunding sites are full of fitness and health related products, but whether they are reliable and healthy is anyone’s guess until you actually get these items in your hands. Well that’s where I come in, because I nabbed a bunch of the most funded health-related products from Kickstarter and I’m here to give them my seal of approval… or disapproval. Have you tried any of these? Let me know down in the comments which ones work or you want to try!

Dude, anytime I see a jump-rope marketed with a cable, I just know "that's going to hurt so freaking much when you miss your jump." They market it as 'durable', but jump ropes are like $15, and my nylon one has lasted for 10 years. I will gladly buy a replacement once a decade instead of living in constant fear of missing a jump and getting whipped by a metal cable.

Hey Mike, *BIG* shout out to you for saving my butt not 10 minutes ago. Remember the dog park video you made once upon a time where you were teaching us how to safely break up a dog fight? Had to put this skills to work just now as my Mom's Husky/Husky-Malamute dogs are staying with me during her visit, and one has food aggression when the other approaches their food, so they went at it Lion-King style. Lots of growling. Lots of teeth. Lots of rearing. Lots of scariness as I didn't want them to hurt each other... But thanks to you I knew enough not to go in for the collar grab and grabbed the nearest blanket off the couch and threw it over their heads and was able to pull them apart from each other that way. The one doggo is x15 years old and largely deaf now and has minor eyesight stuff going on, so it would have been bad if I would have gotten between them to separate them like I would have done in the olden days way back over a decade ago when I was a teen. Thanks for your help, Mike... You literally saved my skin!

Basically different fabrics may be more stretchy from selvage to selvage, or parallel to the selvage at its length and some are more stretchy on the diagonal. now I'd need to draw that to explain it better but that will do for now.

Small detail that’s bugging me: there are different kinds of stretch to fabric. 100% woven cotton has no stretch for example. If you pulled on it, it would rip instead of stretch. 2 way stretch will stretch horizontally or vertically but not both. 4 way stretch is likely what that product referred to meaning it stretches in all directions.

@@grouch314 Thanks anyways but I don’t like milkshakes or smoothies or almost anything like that and it doesn’t matter how I try to take them I still choke every time so I just take liquid forms of medication whenever possible instead because for some reason my gag reflex isn’t triggered as badly that way, go figure 🤷.

Just moved into a loft with no real doors. Didn't worry about such things because there was YMCA two blocks away which was closed "temporarily" due to covid. Temporarily has become permanently. If I have to drive/train/bus/whatever to get a to a gym, I know from experience I won't do it often enough. Winters are abet too brutal for the park option, so I'd probably leave it up half the year then put it away for the warmer months vs constantly setting it up/putting it away.

Speed rope is only supposed to come to your belly button's height when your legs are holding it down at a normal standing width, otherwise it bounces from hitting the ground at a too high angle. Small enough angle also helps maintain the momentum so the speed stays same (helps with the rhytm). Another thing to note is you should have sneakers that protect the front to avoid injuries in your toes. :) Ps: Speed rope's main function is to be fast enough so you can effectively do standstill running with it with the rope going around you once per leg!

As a plus size person, I can 100% confirm that not all fabric has 4-way stretch 😂 In fact, no matter what size I've been, I've always had broad hips, so when 4 way stretch was introduced it made finding more comfortable clothes a little easier. And for workout gear? If it doesn't allow for more movement, then what's the point? Gotta have that total stretch 💁

The jump rope sizing was off so that the rope ended up being too long. Cable-style jump ropes do take a while to master, but you can spin faster once you get used to the additional weight and get the hang of flicking your wrists and not using your arms as much. Depending on how long you jump, and whether they are singles or "double-unders", you can get a nice cardio workout.

"Have you ever stretched a Tshirt and went like 'oh, it only stretches in one way.'" yes. I've had a few clothes that were poorly designed focusing on the look before making sure they could be worn with a full range of movement. Usually restaurant work pants. They are designed to look like they're ironed and in turn uses material that can't stand stretching in certain directions that usually are required for 90% of restaurant jobs.

Hi Dr. Mike! I'm a high school xc/track runner, and I just signed to run D1 this fall. I'm doing like 40-45 miles per week rn, but I know that once I start running in college, I'll be jumping up to 50-60 mpw. I was wondering if you could do a video to tell athletes (especially female athletes) how to take care of their bodies in practice and out of practice, and like what food to eat to recover best.
