Your concrete floors are in good shape. Just acid stain the concrete and save a ton of money and maintenance. You can also roll a piano over it no worries. The wood will actually sound brighter than the concrete and 1/2" of wood over concrete is going to be about the same on the low end. Just an idea! Wood is cool too.
@jinacisvet3 жыл бұрын
You have right with money and maintenance, but this is DREAM studio. Of course wood needs more care but looks much more better.

and carry all the sound through the floor to the neighbours?
@floordoctor3 жыл бұрын
In many situations that'd be fine....with an epoxy etc. Would look nice too....but there's multiple tenants in the building, and rooms in the studio... so he's trying to isolate them as much as possible. The floor is likely going to be elevated somewhat (at least in some areas, with possible channel / space for some wiring. At a minimum, a vapor barrier under the wood with can be accentuated as well.

Really loving the thought put into these responses. I’ve built a few studios as part of a team and a lot have been spring isolated from the outer wall - almost nothing transfers even with some heavy sub and very loud people inside. Claudio hasn’t got the height or budget for that. Wood will look nicer as he’ll be filming there so aesthetics do count plus its just nicer to be in all day. I think he has nobody below but adjoining to the side and above.
@floordoctor3 жыл бұрын
@@jamesrbrindle What do you mean spring isolated from the wall? Trying to picture what you're talking about specifically. I'm working on plans for a therapist office with hi-fi audio room(s). Won't be used for recording purposes, but the extreme levels of different frequencies could present some challenges room-to-room. Isolation & accuracy are going to be extremely important a good portion of the time. Looking at any and all creative possibilities as options.

A great choice of Air Conditioner -I have its bigger sister (with 2 axial fans and 3 phase) and very happy with it. As for the engineered timber flooring , irrespective of the wood colour you choose its lacquer honeys up over time with exposure to sunlight. Watch out for sound leakage through the A/C ductwork and vents.

Wood is the wrong way to go and will be a huge investment, you’ll need to grind down the concrete first then surface dpm and fully bond a T&G engineered to the floor. You want a floated floor so my advice (considering it’s what I do for a living) is check the moisture content in the concrete first with a hygrometer then prep accordingly, after which I would go with jumpax and LVT it will help acoustically and you could have a logo or design in your floor to make it more bespoke looking for less than wood costs.

!!! DON'T USE ENGINEERED WOOD flooring Claudio - it's noisy to walk on, can't replace planks if damaged/difficult to repair and bit of a pain to keep clean over long time. Been through this so many times now .... practical solution is Karndean LVT Luxury Vinyl Tiles (doesn't sound great if vinyl, but honestly is quiet/sound-deadening, 'warm' to walk on barefoot & super easy to keep clean!!!!). Not cheap but will last forever as you can simply heat up/retrofit new plank if damaged. 😎👍🎹🎶🍻

Number 5 for colour! I've got fake wood flooring and it's easy to chop out and fix, it ain't noisy unless you did it wrong(underneath...and installed it wrong too!), and it's a piece of cake to clean! Get one of those huge duster/push brooms that you take off the duster mop head thingy and wash it every few weeks! Makes the job super simple and takes less than 15min to do the entire house! Oh and cleanups are easy as hell too, cause you know for a fact people gonna be spilling shit on the floor the first few days guaranteed! Prolly soda!

Hey Claudio, check out the Phillips Hue led lights for your studio. Those are connected to your wifi and you change colours manually or sync them to your PC to follow the colours of whatever is on display or playing. I got some in my home studio and it definately changed the way I work or just chill there. Shoutouts from Perú, and congrats for the studio!

Hi Claudio! Definitely choose light or bright floor. Number 5 seems too dark for me, if you want to keep only daylight sometimes. As your colegue said, you should preffer bigger grid, room will look bigger. Nice video. Keep going. From choosen, nr. 2 looks the best on video, on real light can be different.
