Having worked with a few patients with dystopia I can only imagine how much it would get into your head as a runner. Kara’s mental strength and character is inspiring!

One of my favorite episodes. As others have said, reading Kara's book is an emotional journey that makes you rethink what you support, and how you think about the structure of the sport. As much as I absolutely love in-depth shoe analyses, I'd love to see more of these long-form interview-based episodes!

Congratulations on a great episode. I've heard Kara speak on several other podcasts, including her own, but you brought up questions that I've never heard before. Thanks!

Great point on running without worrying about time. That's why I rarely look at my watch while running. We do our best when relaxed, and being obsessed with time doesn't help.

If I could change one thing about the sport of running? Kara's answer is on point! Running is hard, especially if you compare yourself with other (faster) people. It would be great to just enjoy the run sometimes.

This is so great hearing Kara normalizing training.. meaning it’s okay for your body to change - my case getting older and still have goals and be 😊

Really loved this week’s episode. It’s tragic that abuse of top athletes is so widespread, but I’m glad systems like Safe Sport are working on it, even if there’s still a lot of work to be done on improving the system.

I forgot my watch and phone at a recent race. I exceeded expectations and ran shockingly good splits. I'm considering using it for training only in future, I loved the freedom from mental math while running.

In talking about all the high tech watches etc people use today, it reminds me of an interview Greg Meyer did where he talked about the first time Rob DeCastella showed him the heart monitor he used. Rob told him he only used it on his easy days. He already knew what "Hard" was so he used it only to make sure his easy days stayed "Easy". Dan

I loved the comments about getting the watch out of running. I think we definitely should try to get back to pure running and not consistently looking at our watches/data
