Absolutely. I had my problems with his run due to many of the stories. I never blamed it on Smith, though. He's not my favorite but he was a great Doctor.

I am impressed! A seven year old is pretty young to be carefully and efficiently cooking, though there are a lot of cuts so we can imagine the occasional mishaps of half a dozen dishes in a row.

I always loved this scene. I remember at the time a lot of people calling it too silly/corny for Doctor Who, but I always felt that regardless of how amused (or not) you were about the food stuff, it's a great setup to the "scary crack in your wall" line. Maybe The Doctor was even faking not liking stuff just to get a better feel about Amelia???

I read somewhere that the regeneration process itself is really long, which is why some doctors even sleep through it. I suppose that this regeneration the Doc had was so full of energy that he couldn’t even sleep through it, so he resorted to eating his way through it, like waking up in the middle of the night with a craving.

"Fish Fingers and Custard" one of the most recognisable moments from Eleven? I'll agree season 5 was crap but it had some funny moments, this being one of them. This is just Matt Smith beginning to settle into the gigantic shoes left by David Tennant, and in the later series I'd say he pulls it off pretty well. (Take his speech from The Rings of Akhaten for example, that was pretty powerful.)

I was already set on liking the Eleventh Doctor in his first scene at the tail end of End of Time Part 2 but this scene really cemented the new breath of life the show had into it after all the melodrama of the Tenth Doctor's era. The enthusiasm and chemistry between Amy and The Doctor here is perfect. and Steven Moffat's writing hit every single comedic note perfectly. "Beans are evil, bad bad beans" "Bread and Butter, now we're talking..." "AND STAY OUT!!!" These phrases need to be used more in everyday conversation.

This is kind of a great summary of Eleven. He has so much energy that he goes utterly nuts for a few minutes but the whole time he's been connecting the dots on the supernatural element present, and within seconds flips from happy manchild to 900+ year old Time Lord who's seen multiple apocalypses and reads people like a book.
