Quite right. This is one of the finest seasons of nu-who.

I would say he's using his "telephone voice". Still sounds very Northern, but he's doing that semi-comic, pretentious thing, often subconsciously done by Lancastrians when trying to sound more august.

Tennant was my first with this season so I never experienced Regeneration at all in those four to five years of his era. But I did learn more about the show during that time and watched Classic Who and learned about how it was a staple of the show so I just accepted it. Until Tennant changed to Smith and I had that EXACT question because I loved Tennant so much and I’m glad I kept watching to this day.

@@GibbySoapBox Thanks for that story. I like these stories from people like myself who first were introduced to Doctor Who in the new era. I just remember 2005 my dad saying Doctor Who is coming back. Had no idea what he was talking about and soon I became more obsessed than him :D

@@seanbhoycfc4834 it’s amazing still how big this era was when it aired. We had Doctor Who and lucky enough to have two or three different spin off shows that expanded the amount of content we could watch. Between that and Classic Who on syndication that my Mom would record for me, I think there was no way I could have not loved this show. And School Reunion is still one of those episodes that I watch countless times and post 2011 makes it feel so bittersweet to know that episode was never the end of Sarah-Jane and her time on the show.

@@GibbySoapBox Man, I think I met my whovian counterpart! Couldn't agree more, it was a golden age. We had Doctor Who at its best itself. We had the Sarah Jane adventures for kids and not so much the whole family show and Then Torchwood for the adult audience and what I think gave Doctor who more respect among more mature viewers. I had my Sonic Screwdriver and so much other merchandise every Saturday beyond excited to watch my show with my dad. It was our thing. Series 4 did an infinity War before infinity War was even a thought lol this is why when skeptics say DW will never be back to this level of popularity again I remind them of what a comeback it's already had in the past Doctor who was bigger than ever during the Ten and parts of eleven's era and that was after the horrible fading away of the late 80s Doctor Who is the definition of a series that can be rebooted whenever. So, they talk about bad ratings or whatever. All temporary with this wonderful series

Since the reboot, there’s only been 3 years where we’ve not had 1 season. 2009, 2016, 2019. EDIT: Admittedly 2012-13 was one season spread over 2 years.
