I like how Eleven is the exact opposite of Ten in terms of romance. Ten snogged every woman he met (so much for the virgin queen), yet Eleven only loved his TARDIS and River, and actively rejects Amy's advances. One downside for Tennant was swapping companions every season. For Smith, the fact that Amy and Rory were with him for about 75% of his run allowed for great character development and relatability. Big reason why the 11th Doctor era is my favorite.

They had terrible chemistry imo. Donna should have stuck around after rannaway bride.... or they could have done the thing from the comics where he gets a second companion halfway through. Like keep Martha and then add Donna. (only my opinion of course - but would you really rather never have met Donna?)

Every Doctor has their "core" companions in each life. Amy and Rory were the 11th Doctor's "core" companions. That trio was iconic in every way.

Kind of makes you feel bad for Martha. Rose was the love of his life (at least until River Song showed up) but the Donna also fused with him and you could argue that Rose is more aligned with the 9th Doctor. Martha was a good companion but fit in more like a stop gap.

Rory asking "What colour?" is legitimately one of the most useful questions as their colour indicates their role, rank and level of weaponry. I mention this every time I rewatch the episode and it bugs me so much that the other characters act like it's a stupid question.

Yes and no. Over the number of eras, colour means very little as different eras use different colour patterns for different roles, and all concurrent daleks use the same basic weaponry except Special Weapons Daleks (who are impure and thus probably unlikely to end up in the Asylum). However, it's not totally useless either... Mind you, Rory acknowledges that it was a knowingly dumb question because he couldn't think of a good one. It's possible that it's also a dumb question because "all of them you twit it's a planet".

@@deusexmachina9776 not gonna lie I'm personally pretty okay with this boyfriend getting emasculated plot. I think it not only elevates the doctor's charm for being an "alpha male", creating team dynamics, comedy and subtle character progression for Rory/Micky, but also balances out the gender differences since the "weaker" boyfriends signify the female companions' ability to be independent and strong. The other companions who didn't have boyfriends (Martha, donna & clara) were given richer characteristics, Martha being a doctor and later a soldier makes her already a strong female, donna being just so fierce and funny on her own, and Clara acting almost just like the doctor himself. It just works, all the previous doctors and companions, I watched this show till 5 in the morning and could still go on. Now the thirteenth doctor on the other hand...She's okay, definitely not as good as the previous ones but I blame the writing, it's pure garbage.

@Kingofnerds77 Kind? Good god no. He was a figure of uncompromising strength, authority, power and security. He rescued the Monarchy from the days of his weak father, Henry III. He laid the foundations for Parliament, where I would argue he was the first Monarch to truly do so. He was known as the English Justinian, for his law reforms were vast, expansive and overwhelming. He was a deeply religious man who stayed faithful to both of his wives throughout his life - and being deeply in love with the first. He cultivated a court of chivalry and was obsessed with the legends of King Arthur. He was also the first to break the Norman traditions of his forefathers and spoke English as well as having a distinctly Anglo-Saxon name, which he kept after his Coronation. That is not to say he was WHOLLY benevolent, far from it. He expelled the Jews from England to seize their assets to pay for a Crusade. They would not be allowed back until Oliver Cromwell. He conquered Wales and imposed on that country an unruly, harsh, arguably racist regime which affected the relationship between those countries until the present day. In his conquests, his wrath was incredible. As a teenager, he had his family's baronial rival, Simon de Montfort, ripped apart as a lesson. When he laid siege to Sterling Castle, he ordered the castle be fired upon with a Trebuchet simply because he wanted to test out the new invention - which was AFTER the castle had surrendered, mind you. And, as I mentioned, he was obsessed with King Arthur BUT he used that to his advantage to crush any Celtic hopes of their King coming back from the dead to save them from the English. Overall, like any historical figure, he was an intensely complicated man. He was what a Monarch should be - harsh but not cruel. Strong but not overwhelming. Forceful but not tyrannical.

This was the peak of Doctor Who after the reboot. The Rose era will always be my favourite due to nostalgia and David Tennant being my favourite Doctor, but the Ponds and the 11th Doctor definetely had the best story and possibly the best chemistry. Clara was good too, but it's hard to follow up something that was just so good.
