This video was specially created for #NewNewYork, the worldwide tweetalong of the Doctor Who episodes 'New Earth' and 'Gridlock' on Saturday 30 May 2020.
Written by Russell T Davies, starring Anna Hope as Novice Hame and featuring music by Murray Gold, this video was home-produced remotely during the 'lockdown' period of the COVID-19 outbreak in May 2020.

David Tennant says "hello" and we cry. He says he's on a final journey and we cry. He sits with Novice Hame and tells stories and we cry. Because everything ends and that's sad, but everything begins again too and that's always happy.

I think, this is exactly that. I wonder, if eleven or twelve or thirteen comes back to new earth, and finds out about the long trap, too. I wonder, if the tie in with the song of Akathen is a hint on some connection and the Doctor will spring or defuse the trap. Maybe, new earth is old earth transported there by some mysterious cosmic entity just before the sun of our original solar system explodes.

This is absolutely amazing!!!! I miss rtd.... running who so much..... this is hands down the best doctor who I have experienced in at least three years!!! Murray gold .... my god... that that’s music that builds emotion...and of coarse the tenth doctor will always be my doctor!!! Pay attention chibnal..... this is what doctor who is all about.... a amazing,, fantastic,, journey to get lost on , away from everyday life ,, for just a little while....not a preachy mess... thank you all for this

I lost mine 11 months ago and this hit me hard. I don't know if I'm ok or not but I seem to be coping. I feel I carry him in who I am. I'm sorry for your loss and I hope you can carry your dad with you too. Stay strong pal.

@@superraegun2649 who knows? i certainly can see it happening. jack, a immortal man from the far future is back after all. but we also must remember that chibbers does have a "5 year plan" for his tenure, which i pretty much suspect will englobe the 13th doctor's odyssey all back to her roots, and sumn abt yaz, i suppose. nothing more we can do but wonder indeed.

I lost my Novice Hame, my mother, to this pandemic. Yes, this beautiful piece made me cry because I still have tears of mourning to shed. Tears even for myself as the last of my line of Wonderers. But in my living memory their memories live and still keep my wonderings company. And for that, and every creative act that reminds me to continue that loving heritage -like this animation- I could not be more grateful. Definitely think Russel was hinting at ravalox, trap of infinite complexity was the trial and the matrix, and when she dug deeper she found Marble Arch, maybee the time lords hid a signal calling the evolved earth creatures back home

Also as short as ten's life was, it seems he spent a large portion of it infected with radiation visiting everyone he ever met. I bet he was about 950 by the time he saw them all

@@finnstewart4747 Moffat was big on pointing out how short 10s run was and how long 11 lasted, probably to wind up his mate RTD Think he clearly made 10 state his age in Day of the Doctor, which was meant to be his last, off camera adventure before "The End of Time" so yeah, poor 10 was only around for 5 mins Best 5 mins of their life though ;)

@@Thekellin1 one fan theory is that 9 spent a lot of time in between leaving rose and popping back (to her) a couple seconds later and telling her the tardis is also a time machine. This is even used in a short story written for the 50th.

Sigh...my feels are hit in the feels. This is the power of great storytelling. At its best, Doctor Who truly is about time travel, but not just for him. It's about us, and the magic that RTD somehow tapped into during his tenure. I wish that the current Doctor had a writer and show runner that just "felt" what this show is really about. The new show is so mired in trying to tell us why the new doctor is better than everyone that has come before that it forgets what the Doctor truly is about - its about HOPE, and hope appeals to all of us, no matter our race, gender, sexual orientation, political ideology. Hope is the one thing that ties us all together as humanity, and it is the exact thing that is missing from the new show. Thank you for this, all of you involved, for the tears and the smiles and the wistfulness of it. It's been a long time coming.

Chibnall wanted to kind of return back, to the Classic Who without drama, it was a very action-oriented show, without much reflection, but with a lot of mysteries. Maybe it didn't work out.

This beautiful video is another reminder that Russell T Davies brought heart to this series. No attempts to be cleverer than thou. No efforts made to be extra funny. Nothing politically correct for the sake of it. Just a man with a pen, who closed his eyes and expanded a universe he grew up loving, so all of us could experience that joy with him. What a wonderful way to start a new week and a new month. ♥

I sometimes forget the absolute poetry and heart that Russell put into Doctor Who. And I sometimes wish he would write again for Doctor Who, because the stories he told were beautiful and the connections we felt to them are real

RTD was a gift, i miss his world in dr who world its a shame chibs didn't care about the world anywhere near RTD. Eventually the children who grew up with RTDs run of the show will become writers and treat it with the same care he did

Thats what none of you understand....its all the same show! One is Fve is Eight is Ten is Thirteen---it ebbs and flows, grows stronger and sometimes grows weaker, but its all the same story! Its funny how you say you can so easily grasp the concepts of Time And Relative Demesion In Space and the multidemensional relationship of Any and Rory to River, but you can't seem to allow the show as a whole the same life to grow and change and die and be born again!

I like the idea that Hame discovered New Earth was actually Old Earth. When Earth was going to be destroyed in The End of The World, a later Doctor finally couldn't bear the thought of Earth ever ending and came back at the very last second, when on one was looking, to save it. He pulled the Earth across the Universe to a new home where it would be safe. Remember, no one actually saw the Earth be destroyed. Of course, the plants had changed and evolved over the years.

I really enjoyed this. Anna also plays a recurring character/friend of the Doctor (but also not a companion) in the Sixth Doctor audios called Patricia Menzies, and I love how she's got two such characters that she plays.

I just lost and buried our beloved 16-17 year old family cat Roxy yesterday, so a dear friend of mine and fellow Whovian shared this with me to help comfort me. I was very moved by it and it brought me to tears and made me think of Roxy, and I hope that she too has moved on to the Great Cat Kingdom.
