This is a revised and improved method using a power drill to sharpen the electric razor heads. This works with the newer versions that have a curved profile.
Please subscibe to support my work and keep updated on any new material I produce, I don't produce many just when I have something different to share.
kit can be ourchased at www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234736971491

Glad I watched this as I was about to try lapping the blades from my razor flat. I will try this method with metal polish compound I have on hand.

This is very clever but i think on a whetstone is better. BTW, I remember Philips says many years ago that it was not necessary to change the heads, because they are self-sharpening. These days they have a different story and told you to change every 2 or 3 year.

Your lucky if you get that one year is to long with my beard tough cutting the blades don't cut well before year is up.

Also using a wet stone works for completely flat blades the norelco are not they have to fit in the curve recess of the foil which is not flat. Slightly rounded

That is perfect method, thanks! But why wouldn't you use the shaver itself? Just prepare the paste with oil, put that on a plate (we no longer need a perfectly flat surface as blades are sharpened inside the head), put the shaver head in a paste and press a little.
@dodeedo
@dodeedo 5 жыл бұрын
the paste gets everywhere, you don't want it to grind away the seals, as then you will not be able to rinse under water

I have to do something like this cuz the remington XR7000 doesn't seem to disassemble! I think a SMALL amount of paste will do it. Then rinse thoroughly...etc. It is worth a try before I pay 50% of shaver cost on replacement heads...which are additionally out of stock! So, we're really looking at a shaver replacement. I'm *definitely* trying it.

This is probably the best way to do this as both faces match after grinding so as will as the heads cutting a scissor action of both edges meeting. and i know this from me old trade engineering so i agree with Sergey Vorobey

You will grind the plastics and the shafts so not a great idea

I agree -- try it without disassembly. Just use VERY small amount of sharpening paste -- don't get it everywhere so things you don't intend to grind don't get ground.

Very informative video. I have a s5420 aquatouch, which method should I use? Lapping over mirror or this newer method?
@dodeedo

Personally I prefer this method with the power drill as it keeps the profile of the had and blade together, just remember to keep them paired together

@@dodeedo I don't have power drill so I simply filled the heads with diamond paste and placed the blades back and turned on the shaver for a minute. Color of paste changed from blue to grey.

People come up with the most wierdest and complicated methods to sharpen this blades yet on the box of Phillips electric shaver it says "self sharpening! The more you use it the sharper it gets" weird isn't it lol

@@joescheller6680 I tried sharpening and it doesn't make any difference in fact only the first 2-3 shaves the blades feel sharper but after that they feel the same whether you didn't sharpen them for 1 month or 10 months it doesn't feel any worse.

@@joescheller6680 normal shaving razors get dull after 5-10 shaves no matter how hard and sharp they are and they have twice more cutting edge length than rotary electric razors so if a rotary electric razor can still shave face hair after 50 shaves without getting dull that means that they are indeed self sharpening and stay always sharp at the same level, now someone like this in video might believe that sharpening it to a very fine egde beyond what it always operates at is gonna make big improvement but believe me I already tried it with Japanese 15000 fine grit stone for cut throat razors and after few sharper feeling shave it goes back to it's default sharpness once again simply because it's always rubbing very fast against metal mash, an example of this would be trying to sharpen a knife to 15000 fine grit stone by rubbing it against 15000 grit stone 20 times and then after that rubbing it against more rough 12000grit stone 1000 times 🤗 is it going to stay 15000 grit stone shar? I don't think so! So I say to people who believe this don't do it, it's pointless unless you are prepared to do it before every shave and "once a year sharpening" is a complete nonsense because rubbing against default metal mash at 5000rpm would dull it back to factory default sharpness within the few minutes of turning it on.
