Just discovered your channel and this build you have, and I'm enjoying the content. I believe whether or not it's "worth it" is up to you, and anyone's opinions that say otherwise doesn't matter. It's a pretty dang sweet build and that engine looks clean under that hood. If it runs good, and makes you happy, and you have a good time with it, then I'd say it's completely worth it. Plus you have the satisfaction of building it yourself.

The 98-02 F-bodies were advertised with 0-60 times of like 5.2 seconds with the Ls1 and 4l60e combo & 3.42 gears (,if memory serves)

My bone stock 85 did 14.06 in 90* heat

Depends on what you're swapping out! If you're swapping out the L98 then it'll 1,000% be way faster!!!

Is that they Sony Xplod 12" spiral sub? I had one imported from the US in the 2000s and still regreat selling it.

I'll make a prediction and say yeah, from the l83 to an ls for sure it's worth it. Swapping the 84s is a great idea. There's plenty of them and they're cheap. The 85-91 with the l98 still makes sense but not as dramatic a difference. Swapping a 92-95 probably isn't worth it unless you want huge power from the ls which is easier to do. Swapping a 96 6 speed in my opinion would be stupid since they've got the lt4s and there's not tons of those. Not a collectors car but still cool. Let's see if I'm correct.

Really enjoying your video series Zeke! Did you have to cut the inside of the 84 hood for clearance? The 84 hood has the air channels that looks like they might hit the intake on the ls engine swap.

Did well with it a set LS3 heads and a camshaft with matching valve springs with 226-230 intake duration and 236-244 exhaust duration with a 3600-4200rpm stall converter would make a world of difference in this cars performance these LS engines love higher stall converters and 10.5 to 1 and up compression

If you actually compared the 2 engines pictured in the thumbnail the ls would get its shit pushed in. Decent engines for easy power, at the highest levels, that gen 1 shit is going to embarrass that gasket spitting LS.

Real question is what do you want to achieve dedicated drag car/track car/Street car. I learned to fabricate on LS's so I am bias. LS aluminum block with new bigger sleeves forged crank and pistons, Cam swap, ported heads, turbo and tune means any LS can be better.

Average 0-60 for 84s is about 7.0 flat and 15.3 at 89 in the 1/4. The 85s knocked off a second on the 0-60.

I bet that car drives pretty good, my 84 is tiresome to drive, finicky transmission shift points and engine is always running at low rpms. Computer were so slow back then.

I just received a 1995 C4 and I’m going to be LS swapping it, now that you’re done with the swap for the most part would you recommend I go for a 6.0 or should I just go for a 5.3 and have it be less of a hassle? Curious to hear your thoughts, thanks

Im assuming this car had an L98 which was advertised at 245hp and the iron 6.0 was advertised at 300hp in lq4 trim so these numbers make good sense

My 1985 Corvette ran 0-60 in 5.18 seconds. Stock engine but did have 3.73 gears.

I think bc if you did the swap right the lt1 motors are far more expensive to work on and a lot more annoying, but the ls motors are cheaper to slap turbos or superchargers on them and since they came in like every chevy truck and gmc and cadillac parts are cheap and easy to get

get a used 4L60e. That dragging sound from the start is like a clock spinning so this could easily pull 3 seconds at a 3500 launch with trans brake/lock. This is a LS these engines are nasty. Idk if the LS1 is superior to the truck motor other than ones iron and ones alloy but it seems the LS1s like my ws6 and trans ams and camaro ss were so fast

What was the 0-60 w/ 1ft rollout? Should be at the bottom of the dragy 0-60 slip. That is what the magazines and manufacturers report. Probably a 4.7 or so.

they are superior engines, stronger, internal balance, higher rpm, smoother plus many other improvements. An sbc can do the job decently with the advantage of being cheaper to produce and preserving the original look

I would pull the 317 heads off the 6.0 and put 706,243,799 on and it will probably make 50hp more

For about the same money you could rebuild the sbc to make as much power. Most are getting tired of these ls swaps.. it is like going to a car show you don't eye ball the swap if you have seen it 30 other times in the same row.... it was the same with the sbc and sbf not that long ago. Point is if the original engine can be made to do the same then keep it original. Unless you wanted to put a straight six in it that sang to the moon. Now that is a corvette! Not saying that I won't still watch parts of it but yea a corvette should get a straight 6 or maybe a v12 point is you could have just got a slightly newer one and had the same thing... more would watch you do the other then ls. I have three different projects that could and normally are ls swapped and I refuse because of how many have been done. I would rather have a nightmare of problems swapping in a tractor engine that has been open to the elements for a 100 years then do a ls swap... I still haven't figured out what engine I am putting in the toy. But that will be a 1000hp engine with minimum of 9k read line.... probably a straight 6 or maybe a boat engine. Have both so never know.

No the only thing that makes a car faster engine wise is the power to spine it up to the moon so you can reach higher speeds. The power is different depending on what you are after. A lot of salt flat racers end up with such a high gearing that it takes forever to hit top speed. Then you have the other end where 140 in a 1/4 mile under 10 secs is fast. With funny cars they hit around 20k for a red line and have one use before completely rebuilding. The salt guy will go faster with less power just not as quickly..... miles instead of a fraction of a mile. So for a day to day car most lean one way or the other. What you have to remember is it faster or quicker they are two different things. As well as I end up talking to a ton of drag guys but the info that they tend to give is to make your car quick not fast.... please learn the difference if you don't know....

Could have installed a SBC 400 and been even faster without the headache of an LS install
