What I think would be funny would be a parody of Midnight Diner, but have it called Midnight Saloon where Natsuki is the master and foreigners think they are walking into a bar, but it is actually Natsuki's Salon. The bits could center around misunderstandings because of the language barrier but ends with Natsuki giving profound advice after some zany antics and a hair cut

Midnight Diner is great series. Place, where customers come with their stories and problems. And chef always manages to help them and of course food was always in some ways connected to their personal story. So here customers come to Natsuki's saloon carrying some personal item, which is somehow related to their main background story. Then there is always another option to make something like Samurai Gourmet version, where Natsuki is retired old man visiting different eating places and correcting misbehaving folks..

@@silverian Episode 1. A jet lagged newly arrived JET teacher lands in Yamagata. Armed with his limited Japanese and needing a drink stumbles upon a sign that reads "Natsuki Saloon" "サロン" in katakana. In the corner sits Natsuki strumming his guitar to a tune of some punk British song. The wesry traveled can't help but to hum along. A barber seat stands between and a start of the greatest friendship in Yamagata starts. Sometime later the miserably JET has his Twitch streaming friend visit. The friend needs a trim and there is a misunderstanding over the price of the trim because the friend is balding. Half the hair half the price for a trim.

Hello Captain Chris and Pilot Pete, I can't express with mere words how delighted I was when Chris mentioned his old dream of making a full-length film. If you make a reenactment of your (Chris) story in Japan, make sure to cast Rissotaro as the villain. And I can't seem to wait for the new AIJ intl. programme 'Journey across Sweden', where you go and meet every 32-year-old Swedish fan of your channel. 'Journey across UK' can also be an option where you explore every single Gregg's on the British Isles. A sausage roll accompanied by UK's characteristic weeping weather would be wonderfully poetic. Thank you, Sayantan.

Lol, I love your comment about Nagoya being a place where people go to hide. I've lived there for over ten years and I know tones of great places that would make good content. There's Oasis 21 in Sakae, Nagoya Dome and they even opened a Ghibli Park and Legoland. Tokoname is also very interesting, and Central Japan airport is interesting enough that the local people go there for day trips.

Hello Chris! We love the series and have begun making arrangements to visit Shinjuku Tokyo in march 2024! Thanks to your show we’ve added many suggestions for our trip. Would be an honor to buy Naski and yourself a beer if possible! Keep the content coming, and your style of comedic delivery is fantastic!

A rare comment and its a critical one, so apologies, but Chris has a habit of jumping into the next segment before giving Pete a chance to finish or before it feels like a segment is done. For example they'd be in the middle of a bit of banter or it would seem like Pete would like to reply and Chris jumps straight into "We got a story this week" or "Keep the questions etc" without a pause. It's jarring and seems rude. I know he's not being rude but it always stood out to me.

It's actually pronounced "zoyce", rhymes with Royce. That's if QI didn't lie to me. You've been in Japan far too long not to notice how bad everywhere else is when you go to visit. Even with the negatives, I think if i'd managed to establish myself there I probably wouldn't want to leave.

I get it's cool to hate on Japan to make YT content about it, but if you're making a salary from a non-corporate job and you don't live in the most densest of wards in Tokyo, Japan is 3000 years ahead of the US or the UK in terms of: Dining, Transit, Cost of Living (well, depends on where you are renting), Shopping, Internet, Geography/Climate/Weather, and...uh yeah. Basically everything. You can have more fun, eat better, food, go to more places, and live a healthier life there compared to either of those countries. Even the most expensive places in the US/UK (London) are still pretty trash-tier in comparison. I spent 45 days in Japan this year and coming back to the US I feel like I am 500 years in the fucking past. God damn. Food service is slow and bad and awful and expensive. Weather sucks. Roads suck. Internet sucks. Life sucks "in general". The only thing you really struggle with in Japan as a foreigner is (a) socializing and (b) working around the JP gov't/customs and their arbitrary BS.

This is inaccurate, there are documentaries, and Japanese KZfaqrs outlining many many negatives about Japan. It’s easy to find and these are based on longstanding experiences, of people living there. There are so many examples. Check it out. You experienced the beautiful wonderful fake politeness of customer service so you don’t have a handle on it ( it’s a fact check that concept out too, and by honest Japanese folks no less who are willing to call it what it is). Still so many wonderful aspects of course.

Lidingö in Sweden? I saw it in the thumbnail. Sadly it's not a nice place. The mot unfriendly people in the whole Sweden with the worst drivers too. Everyone (20yo and younger) looks the same, no kidding. They only chooses those who looks exactly same (height, weight, hair color etc) as them as friends. There're numerous more other reasons which might get me canceled despite being the truth. Aaaand I'm from that place. Sweden has declined incredibly harshly during those 8 latest years now, it's indeed not the same country anymore compared with +10 years ago. The decline only worsens for every week now, our economy probably the worst in Europe right now, but the crime in Sweden is PROVEN the worst in Europe outside the war here in Europe. Nothing works here anymore, our "politicians" ignores everything now by the fear of being canceled, or being accused of being racist... Don't believe in the false hype surrounding Sweden.

5:44 - Is August really that bad of a time to travel to Japan? Is there a video rant dedicated to the horrors of summer in Japan somewhere? I've only been to Japan once (in 2010) for a month and 20th of July to 20th of August was pretty much perfect since it was the period right after the rainy season. Sure, it's hot and humid, but otherwise lovely. The plants look alive and the shopping malls have air-conditioning 🤷
