I bought an X-S20 but ended up selling it and moving to Sony Full Frame, it is smaller, cheaper, lighter and much better, I recorded a video about it on my channel if you're interested. My biggest problems with the X-S20 were IBIS corner wobbles, low dynamic range in 6.2k and surprise surprise, video autofocus: doesn't work in low light, doesn't work with multiple subjects and missing basic functionality such as tap to track in video (only works in stills).

Yes but consider the price, any new full frame Sony costs DOUBLE. What sony camera is out there with these specs at this price point? New A6700 is around 300-400$ more for body. Obviously Fuji isnt aimed at pro work but it will do wonders in right hands. Fuji is usually photography based so no wonders there. @@DigiDriftZone

Just bought a slightly used X-T4 and I think it's amazing!! I love the look of the XS-20, but the lack of weather sealing and dual card slots are a deal breaker for me. 2nd camera for the future? Maybe

I'm going to hold both the XT-5 and XS-20 at Adorama and make a decision. I don't *think* I need weather sealing. But given I only use an APS-C camera while traveling, and I go to the UK and the Arctic a lot....

Jesus Christ, wrap that bitch in a plastic bag and you are good to go. Not optimal, but beats any weather resistance feature.

@@BrendanMacWade there are better ways to protect the camera than just trusting its weather sealing (unless it's a Pentax, haha) but still, extra peace of mind might be worth it

What are the unique lenses for Fuji? I am looking at buying the x-s20, but am stuck with picking the lens.

@@DesuetusThe Fuji ones: 35mmF2 is such a great tiny travel lens, the 50-230mm is very light, the 15-45mm power zoom is surprisingly great and nice to have the 15mm on the wide end - nothing I couldn't really live without though.

@@DigiDriftZone Thanks! The 35mm will most likely be my first lens, the XC version. The 15-45 sadly doesn't have constant aperture. I was hoping the 16-80mm F4 will be offered as a kit option like it was with x-s10 but it's not. And I was looking at the 7artisans 35mm f1.2 manual, for a character lens. Saw a review on that and liked the photos.

@@Desuetus The 16-80 F4 was my least favourite lens, I kept it for 6 months, hoping to find a use for it but ultimately sold it. F4 is very slow, it is approaching phone territory, fine for well lit situations but really limits the use of the lens indoors, in the evening, for past moving objects, etc. It's also much bigger and heavier than the 18-55 F2.8-4 and F2.8 is literally double the light hitting the sensor, a massive improvement, so I "upgraded" to the 18-55. The 16-80 is so heavy in fact you really don't want to bring it when travelling. The extra 2mm on the wide end is nice, but 55 vs 80mm is very minor and not worth the size/weight in my opinion. I don't know why people like to have a constant aperture, a wider aperture is generally a lot more useful on the wide end than at tele. At 18mm, F2.8 vs F4 is huge, at 55mm, your depth of field is already so shallow, it's a lot more subtle of a difference. I had a 12mm F2 Samyang but manual focus gets old, you can't hand the camera to someone to take a group shot, you often miss focus just a tiny bit, it also had strange colours and it picked up horrible glare from any light source above, so many images looked very washed out. I absolutely adore my Viltrox 13mm F1.4 though. I have the XF version of the 35mm F2 but the XC is optically identical, it's a fantastic photography lens but it's useless for video due to abysmal focus breathing, just bear that in mind.

@@DigiDriftZone Honestly the A6700 looks really nice too but its a Sony, the downside is the pretty pissy EVF which is pretty garbage on the A6700, and the inferior screen on the back, you could alternatively buy a Xperia 1 II or 5 II and use them as external monitors via USB-C cable. Thats possible, you also save battery life doing that but its like another 200g of weight added with the phone AND the plastic holder for the phone. No crop on the 4k60 is nice but realistically there very few scenarios you would shoot that in, and at least in my experience working professionally there very few times you want to use wide angles for videos, its just, bad. I myself am pretty torn between the two, I owned several Panasonic S1, S5 and now S5II, great cameras, all of them, but so Goddamn heavy, so big, lenses are big, everything is expensive, really expensive, hard to justify when you do not use these cameras at least once a day, also big camera = bigger gimbal, its just a nightmare, everything doubles in size when you go full frame its ridicules. Both Sony and Fuji also have Sigma and Tamron options for lenses, honestly if you only want the best image, 3 of those Sigma f1.4 primes with the 18-50mm f2.8 are the only lenses you need in your life, and maybe some telephoto, but these lenses alone cost the same on X-mount and E-mount at least in Europe, they are small, fast, and amazing image quality as expected from Sigma post 2012. Frankly, the A6700 has good specs, but its just so uninspiring to work with, very difficult body, the IBIS is reportedly the same as it is on A6600 which is pretty bad, I rather have good IBIS for photo, and I can use my compact gimbal for video work. As for AF, the X-S20 is probably the best autofocusing Fuji body to date, with firmware updates they can fix a lot of the quirks that are in the body, like the weird unsmooth focus shifting that occurs, but all the tests I seen makes it appear extremely competent, in a comparison test with A6700, it actually locked on to subjects just as well, which is ridicules for a Fuji, you never would expect it. There is also a Japanese douga maker who did a test on the Fuji S-X20 AF and found it to be extremely reliable even with old Fuji lenses but also third party ones, its coming to a point were every camera is getting A7IV level AF and when you reach that point, you really have to dig for the most minute scenarios were AF might fail, its just petty toothpicking at this stage, does A6700 have better AF? Yes it does, but its mediocre at everything else, the dynamic range of the sensor is also inferior to the Fuji which has the same sensor as the X-T3, its the best APS-C sensor in terms of dynamic range and noise performance to date, its like 5% better than the best Nikon D7200 APS-C body which was already the peak of APS-C sensors.

"Huge" it still has AF problems, ironically the X-S20 does not have AF issues, its very close to A6700 but its still dragging its feet when shifting focus in continuous mode but thats more than likely the lens problems as I did not observe those issues on any Sigma lenses.

Funny. I have no issues at all! It drastically improved things for me and small bird photos. I use native lenses only.

@@juliettemansour Almost all its AF problems are in the continuous during video and challenging scenarios such as poor lightning, busy backgrounds, a lot of movement the AF seems to struggle locking on to its target. Whereas likes of Sony will always nail it. It be great if Fuji could move the AF algorithm from X-S20 to X-H2s in an update.

I love my X-S10 and I'm keeping it to compliment my new X-S20, sometimes it's nice to have 2 video angles :)

that's the best way. just enjoy what you have and spend more time shooting. People get far too caught up in the latest and greatest tech which is exactly what the camera companies and reviewers want you to do. I swear these days people spend more time worrying about the latest specs than they do actually going outside and taking photos/ videos 😂

@@VTeixex I think you might've misunderstood, but an 18% crop (1.18x) is 82% of the 100% sensor. I'm not sure why you would do 82% of 118%? Edit - and just to clarify, this is all an approximation because the crop-factor is really the ratio of the diagonals, not the area.

Its also less than when full frame crop to APS-C size to do 4k60p

@@randomlyunknown2012 That's not how math works. Those 82% and 71% are simply incorrect. With a 1.18x crop, you get 1/1.18 or about 84.7% of the diagonal. With 1.29x you get 1/1.29 or about 77.5%. In terms of area, assuming identical aspect ratios, the crop factor is squared, and a 1.18x crop is already only about 71.8% of the area. And a 1.29x crop would only have around 60.1% of the area.

For photo, yes, even an X-T2 from 2016 gives some incredible photos, you'll be hard pressed to tell it apart from an X-T5 in most shooting conditions. But for video, we are still saying major improvements, the video quality from X-S10 to X-S20 is night and day difference, despite being the same sensor. The processor was really holding the X-S10 back for video.

What lenses do you recommend for video? I am looking at buying the camera but am stuck with the lens. Did you go with the kit options, 18-55, 16-80 or a prime ?

@@frostgodx fair Also as an added note , i work in a really budget social media managing company , and most often than not we'd recycle the content we shoot in landscape to portrait - if open gate was easily accesible , it wouldve been nice for us videographers

i think it's weird that simply not cropping now even has it's own expression. it's the opposite of doing something to the image. it should be the default!

@@markifi yeah but humans dont really figure it out first try , the prevalent growth of video on digital cams is when tv and 16:9 the most sought after ratio So manufacturers wen for 16:9 by default , and the sensor stayed at 4:3/3:2 because its cheaper to artificially crop in than to create new sensor wafer ratio since a new ratio is a PITA for wafer production and would neccesitate either a smaller or larger wafer adjustment An example of this is that 26mp sensors are cut from the same cloth as 42mp sensors of fullframe and if im not wrong the same from gfx100 So 4 apsc wafers is 6 ff wafers

The price is pretty similar, Sony is slightly more expensive, but all the lenses I love like the Viltrox 13mm F1.4, Tamron 11-20mm F2.8, Sigma 18-50mm F2.8, etc they are all significantly cheaper for E-mount than for X-mount, so the Sony ends up even cheaper in practice.

The ZV-E10 won on lenses options, AF ( but not that much, people should watch some nikon user and not the nikon's hater cause since the Z6II the AF is really good and all nikon's DX cameras have basicaly the same level in AF as the Z6II that's between the A7III and A7IV in AF performance ) and catalyst browse for stabilization ( and it have a headphone port i guess ). The Z30 have way better colors, fewer but better lenses ( at the same price point i mean, all the DX lenses are really sharp for their cost ), a way better screen, a way better build quality, real buttons ( not the oversimplified ZV bullshit ), better exposition and white balance, and a way better 1080p for slowmo ( it's just really bad on the sony's APSC ). I think the ZV-E10 also have a better heat management and all the logs to ruins your video since it's still 8 bit, so not that great for color grading, i prefer having a great color from the start ^^

Nobody buys a Fuji for it's color accuracy! 😂I decided to just embrace the glory of the 'Chrome' color setting. If you want a color accurate Fuji, maybe locate a used S5 Pro?

If you’re already invested in the S5, why not just upgrade to the S5 II? You get to keep all your lenses + updated autofocus.

fuji has much nicer colours especially if you just wanna shoot jpegs and have fantastic looking shots ready to upload within seconds. I own a Lumix myself and I'm really not impressed with their colour science. Colours just look off for the most part and the onboard jpeg processing is awful. I do however love the stabilization

The XS20 can use the optional cooling fan to extend recording times. I can’t find any thorough overheating tests but in the mode that was tested it more than doubled recording time. Hopefully as it reaches customers in 2-3 weeks there’ll be more data available.

There are some tests online at 33c and the battery dies before it overheats, that's very promising. It's also nice to have the optional fan accessory, from reviews the new A6700 tends to overheat more than the Sony but there is no fan accessory to remedy it.

1k is a lot for most. Also you need more than kit lens and that's not just 1k more. Prolly 1,5-2k at minimum

@@trym2121 I was wrong the 1K price jump included the brilliant 20-60mm lens. For vlogging, this is actually a lens you can't match with anything in the Fuji crop world, regardless of price. We are talking abut 13mm/f2.3 equivalent in crop.

They all look the same. I tested every codec in 240p.

@@DigiDriftZone Plan is to wait until the Sony A9 III is out and see what megapixels we are dealing with on that one. If that's too low I will just save up and go for the Sony A1.
