One might call the Sony a6700 the perfect camera. Certainly an amazing camera, probably best aps-c camera right now. Better than Fuji XS20 in most ways, kills Nikon Z30 and Canon R7. But Sony cripple hammered it a little hard in 3 areas.

well you know how Sony is, if they are allowing all these pro features into their aps-c series, that means their ff line-up is probably going to be getting some large increases probably starting with the all new a-10 ???? who knows what they plan on doing.. but it seems they put some pretty good movie features and top notch af into this moderately priced body.. and I mean the footage I have seen off of it looks fantastic. Gonna keep watching because you get that 1.5x crop and 26 MP so using that with ff lenses.. maybe even with the 2.0x adapter and you have options up to 1800mm without any digital zoom. just got to the space bar pause.. on apple computer software, the space-bar is the universal "start - stop" key for recording whether using Final Cut or Logic for audio

@@hikertrashfilms I think you will get it. Its on its way. I have the older 24 and for me, its not super sharp wide open or MAYBE its only super super shallow depth of focus.... so when I want a sharp photo, I stop it down and it then gives me very crispy images. I love it for video... I guess the wide open works but its pretty extreme on the bokeh. Put it this way, its nice to have the abikility. I suppose for a magical wedding shot, you may need the 1.2. For me the 1.4 is plenty but I am not getting paid to take photos although I am fairly certain I have GIVEN a few people the best portrait theyll ever get...

Nearly all the people given/loaned review-units are sponsored by the manufacturers even if no money changes hands. (They wouldn't be able to make any content without the units. They have to be pretty favourable about the units or the manufacturer can cancel them [There are literally tens of thousands of cloned-channels to take their place]. It is really irritating when KZfaqrs preface their video by saying: "This video was not sponsored by such-and-such-company despite that company giving them free content not available to the general-public and even on occasion putting them up in a hotel etc for the trade-show events).

A6700 looks good... finally :) - with that said, the X-S20 still has many advantages: 6.2k open gate (crop for instagram and KZfaq), 7 stops IBIS (2 more than Sony, noticeably more stable and no longer jerks when panning!), no overheating in video, 4k60 webcam for external recording and power with 1 USB cable (no drivers needed), 10bit 4:2:2 360mbit with 14 stops dynamic range flog2 (better the X-H2S!), raw video external recording, nicer screen, joystick, fuji colours, cheaper, etc, etc - there's a lot to like! -- unfortunately the 4k60p does have a crop though despite reviewers claiming otherwise (unless I am missing some setting on mine?). Not to mention Sony have a history neglecting cameras once they are released while my old X-T3 is still receiving updates and is compatible with the new XApp phone app.

Man, your camera reviews are simply the best, and this is one of your best ever. (Yes, this is good content.) That Sony meeting was hilarious and gave us insight into why the screens haven't improved. Thankfully, they must have also won some side hinges at Burger King as well, as now Sony finally makes cameras with them. I'm also impressed that Sony finally got with the program and added a front dial. I am but a "photographer" (loser), but I do believe the a6700 is likely the best APS-C camera at the moment, even with some flaws. And perhaps the most miraculous thing is that the MSRP didn't increase since the a6600 in 2019. I thought for sure that they'd increase it due to the catch-all reason of "inflation", but nope. So I do think it's a good deal in the APS-C camera space.

In music production, mixing and mastering also I have my go to KZfaqrs I go to which I have found that speak the truth and don't ever shill on equipment and plugins so I can make better decisions on my buys. You channel is the first one that fulfils this requirement in the camera world. And clearly any that tell the truth also come with a great amount raw humour and you channel does that better than anyone else, that I know off anyway. The only KZfaqr close to this before, for me, was Kai and his duo friend Lok. I've already made entirely new equipment lists already just after a week or so watching your videos. When people hype up products it's so easy to be sold on specs and bells and whistles, but now I have a idea of how to get the look and function I need, without going over board so also my content can just be able the content and not drowning it out with fancy BS... but still be able to do enough of that to keep a certain level of quality of production. I've been on the never ending hunt of the perfect audio tool and now I will join you on this search for the perfect camera that will never end because all companies in all fields operate under the playground capitalism creates where they have to be competing with each other instead of combining their knowledge and insight... hell, they even have to compete with themselves in a capitalist system... they have to better their last product but cripple that product in some way to not quite completely defeat another product they still sell... crazy fuck wods

What you got yesterday is Sony's second best APS-C camera for video, and the best Sony APS-C for stills. I think the FX-30 is still best for video. The A6700 is great all-around. One flaw the dudes at PetaPixel noted is the damn thing overheats too quickly while streaming in 1080p over USB-C. By default it overheats in under 30 minutes, unless you set the heat threshold to high. Then it can stream for over 2 hours.

I think Sony is "Worthy" now of the cripple hammer! I remember the days when they were the underdog that everyone is cheering on to beat Canon's BS. Now that they are the leaders they went full Canon on us. Like you said in a previous video a camera from last 8 years would be a better value. Heck getting a used A6400 or A7C is the right move now if you were stuck in Sony's ecosystem for some reason. But if you're not I think the right choice atm would be Panasonic S5II (1500 USD open box body on ebay) for talking heads/light movement with their amazing stabe and Go Pro 11 or even better the new Insta360 GO 3 (which I have and love so much) for Vlogging!
@anonymousl5150

This camera by Sony is the exact opposite of a cripple hammer. If you look at the A7C, it had a crap ton of compromises - terrible evf, mediocre ibis, mediocre video, etc. They put the latest software and advancements into this apsc model, which is not a typical Sony move. A typical Sony move would have been to gimp it in several areas as to not take away any appeal from their full frame lineup.
@Rationalific
@Rationalific Жыл бұрын
I agree with @anonymousl5150 in this case. This isn't the Sony camera that warrants talk of the cripple hammer. It's probably the best APS-C camera on the market. I remember when Canon was putting out cameras that were at least 3 years behind but they were still selling better due simply to momentum. At least this one is at the forefront if we don't really focus on the screen and IBIS. (Though as a photographer - not a vlogger - I find that 5 stops is just about enough in almost all cases except for telephoto usage in dark conditions...even for APS-C cameras. But just barely, and further improvements would still be appreciated.)

So you both don't see that it's recycling of many parts especially evf and screen, or that they never touched the half decade old overheating problems. Or the non existent ibis. Hi, to add to the previous comment---the new IBIS of the a6700 includes 1. no stabilization; 2. standard stabilization, 3. and more than the a6600----active stabilization. all these can be manually turned on and off.

Not to mention 6.2k open gate, no overheating in video, 4k60 webcam for external recording and power with 1 USB cable (no drivers needed), 10bit 4:2:2 360mbit (vs 100mbit on the Sony), raw video external recording, 13+ stops dynamic range, nicer screen, joystick, 30fps stills, fuji colours, better app, cheaper, etc, etc - there's a lot to like!

Yeah, slow mow cameras like the Chronos 2 - ~ $7000 for 1080p 1000fps and Freefly Wave ~ $8000 for 1080fp 1440fps - still too expensive for too little and niche egros. In 2014 I got the Sony RX10 MKII - 4k 30fps, 240, 480, 960 FPS in their HFR mode- sure it was limited by a few seconds and a long buffer - however the result was really cool even though image quality was poor- I TOO want a 4k 240 and HD 960 body that's like a pansonic or something - run and gun no limits! I don't even need AF with DJI lidar AF... Oh well I'll just have to get older and watch the camera market.
